This reminded me of putting up my Christmas tree every year and trying to get it straight! Beautiful tree and that was a huge hole that you had to dig for it. The weather is so unpredictable at the moment but us gardeners carry on until the job is done. You must be very pleased with the finished results. It's lovely that your son gives you both a helping hand. Does he like gardening? I'm like you and have a lot of potting on to do. It's a job that I really like doing.
At least no Christmas lights to untangle 😂 Our son likes helping out - but he’s not crazy about gardening in particular. He does like having a pretty backyard tho. Maybe he’ll like it better when he’s older. And so glad you still have some potting on to do, too 🤓 We feel quite behind… but it’s a fun job, so we also don’t mind taking it slow.
What a lovely tree and great size. We know just how heavy trees can be to manoeuvre and plant without machinery so we'll done! All that new planting space to plan and enjoy too. You're weather is very similar to the UK, rain, sun, rain again! Nice to see you as a family too. Take care guys ❤
AH thank you! He is a great kid. I'm not sure what that tree is tho... Lars has a tree specialist at his garden, so we'll have to ask him. For us... it's pretty... so it stays. hahah
Wow that’s a beautiful centerpiece tree will be a show of colors love it. You have a beautiful colorful garden thank you for sharing. Love from Washington State 👍❤️🙏😊🌷
Hope your tree will be all you want from it and the surrounding gardens. How tall and wide will it grow? You have a lot of patience with transplanting all the seedlings.
We set them in sand and fill in the gaps between them with sand, too. Just normal sand that we buy at the local hardware store. The rocks are called marksten here in Denmark (field stone, I think is the translation). Hope that helps!
Question: I have Lupines that i wintered sowed. They have nice leaves but they are still small. Can I just go ahead and put them in the ground? Will I kill it if I just put it in the ground instead of repotting into bigger pots. I have a whole bunch of them. Beautiful tree. Great for that spot. Thanks for sharing your repotting.
For our area, it's fine to plant them out already now. The fear of frost has passed for us and all of our seedlings have their second set of leaves. We DO have to be careful for snails and slugs in our garden tho... and they love tiny lupine leaves here. But otherwise, go for it:)
Gorgeous tree- so beautiful. Loed watching the team work potting on the seedlings. I so worry to so my seeds in cold temperatures, - I am so scared of them rotting in the cold damp soil, but I see from your video that they are ok and do well. Thank you.I do like your potting compost- it looks really nice. Is it coir based? Thank you for such an interesting video. Happy gardening 🙂
Thanks for watching! We keep all of our seedlings in that unheated glasshouse. If the daily temperatures warm up, we open the door to keep the air moving and not so humid. We do get moss on top of many trays...but we just scrape it off. AND, we do have some trays that just don't make it -- but that's just life of gardeners :) All in all, we prefer this method to sowing now in the spring... when there are a million other small jobs to work on :)
Well the tree has finally arrived! Its gorgeous! Just perfect in that spot. I'm hoping your viewers arr wrong about the wired roots. I'm sure your dealer knows what he's talking about ! Im amazed how much is in full bloom in spite og all the cold we've been having! I just planted my Wintersown seedlings in pots. But not so patiently as you Lars and far not as many. I had seeda from a plant i had last year called Summer phlox, which did so well I wanted it again this yesr. Maybe you know it ? Its annual. Anxious to see what you have nrxt on the sgends fit us ❤😊
Thanks for watching, Gloria! That summer phlox is a gorgeous one! I hope it does well again this year for you. And I hope you get some warm weather soon... it's been up and down here, too. As you can see, we're in winter jackets one day and short sleeves the next!
Wow your garden sure is popping in color! Cherry tree is just perfect for that spot. Does your son love gardening as such as his Dads? My grandson is 12 and he sure does love when I let him use the drill too.
Our son is 11, so we completely understand your grandson and the drill :) Ours likes to help... but he's not a gardener just yet. We still have time to help him fall in love with it. haha
Excited that your tree has finally arrived and been planted! I've been following this channel since last Autumn, watching old episodes to get me through the dreariness of winter. It's a riot to see how giddy you both are at the arrival of the cherry tree and emerging bulbs, I can so relate!
Thank you for following us for so long! We're celebrating our 1 year on RU-vid right now :) AND thanks for letting us know that you get excited about bulbs, seedlings and all the wonderful things that the garden brings us all. Good to know that we're not the only ones! :)
Love your new word "Pebblets" 😂What a lovely episode! Tree planting, seedling showing (thank you), fertilizing, and I can't wait to see what goes in around the tree! I could have watched for twice or three times as long!
Pebblets is the word of the day. hahaha🤣 Lars asks if you caught my extra corny 'north pole' joke? I'm such a dad... can't help it. And those seedlings! Yes. I thought of you, so we made sure to show a few more at the 'ready to pot on' stage 🥰
@@perennial-garden Bahahah! I DID notice and enjoy the Dad joke!!!! 😂😂😂I was actually going to mention it but then had so much more to mention by the end of the vid I forgot, lol! More please, I love Dad jokes! Thanks again for being so thoughtful about the seedlings, it was actually very helpful to see the leaf stage where you planted them on. Your garden is looking amazing and it's only April - can't wait for your next vids! ^^
@@brocktoon8 AND... we're actually trying to film every seedling as it comes up and we pot it on. Then, we'll combine with a video of how we sowed it (winter-sowing) and the final flower in the garden later + how to collect seeds from it, divide it, etc. It's a long process that will take all year ;) BUT... hopefully it'll be helpful.
All looks so beautiful. Your new tree is going to be amazing! Are those a smaller variety of peony? Mine get massive, I couldn’t plant them as close together as your new ones were - 1m apart doesn’t seem too much to be honest. Looking forward to seeing what else you plant this year 😊
Thanks for watching! And I wish our peonies got that big 🥰 These are Peonia lactiflora. We’re planting ‘Catharina Fontijn’, ‘Karl Rosenfield’ and ‘Coral Sunset’. We already have a few other ones in the garden - but they’re so old that we don’t know the names.
@perennial-garden Claus Dalby doesn't seem to have a problem packing all the plants in together, does he? ❤ That tree is amazing! I had looked it up when you first mentioned it, but it isn't hardy enough for here. I will admit to a tiny bit of cherry tree envy atm 🙄😂🌸🌿 Loved seeing your son climbing the other tree in the background 😊
@perennial-garden he's a scene stealer 😉☺️ It was lovely to see the whole family participating in the gardening... even if someone "only" there to hold up the umbrella or the tree 🙄😂😂
