For the uninitiated, how would one go about adding artwork in the way that you did?

If you use the Decky plugin in gaming mode, just install the Steam Grid DB add on. After installing there is an extra option in the game’s steam properties that allows you to add user-made artwork. It works really well.

From what I understand the Steam version is made by the developers of Aleph One. i.e. It’s the same. This tutorial might be redundant at this point. :)
