You can't always choose every condition you get to photograph in.
Sometimes you can't choose the time you have available. Or the weather. Or the tides. Or the light.
But you can choose to go out there and give it your best.
I visit beaches on the Mornington Peninsula with my Fujifilm GFX 50R and Helios 44-2 lens.
I had no options of when I could be there, so I made the most of what I found.

Two geek questions. What does that lens bring to the party? I presume it's not just a cheap substitute for a Fujinon lens. What advantages does that camera have over, say, a Lumix S1R?

1. The Helios is a mass produced soviet lens, often found on cheap Zenit SLR's in opshops. It's a 58mm focal length. f2 wide open and has a clicked aperture ring and a declicked pre-set ring. It's advantages are: it's very easy to get, and very cheap. Used at stopped down apertures, it's more than acceptably sharp. Opened up wide, and in the right setting, and it displays it's famous swirly bokeh. It's easy to use, and I use it a lot on both the medium format, and crop sensor Fujifilms. 2. I have never used the Lumix S1R so can't comment with any authenticity.
