Maps that are made with multiple tiles will create a flickering effect due to Z-fighting but i have another premium module to compact the tiles into a single image. Outside of that you might want to replace overhead tiles with 3D objects if the map has any (for example, if you have overhead tree tops they will look weird in 3d, but you can just plonk down some trees from the 3D asset collection included)
@@theripper9300 cool, could you recommend some modules to go with the 3d canvas? Maybe some you're using in the video, I'm running 3d with 2d maps but when rotating the map doesn't look as good as the normal view, maybe something to do with the lighting or map reflection
If I were to make the entire map in Blender would I be able to import it to Foundry as a playable map? I would assume it might act as a giant mesh where I have to manually place the floors and walls right? I'm looking to create modern day/scifi maps in 3D instead of finding 2D maps of those settings.
Yes, you can export a mesh or scene in general as a GLB file from blender and it will just work within 3D canvas - make sure to use pbr\exportable materials in general, no blender custom shaders. Outside of that, leave out interactive elements (eg doors) so you can place them separatelly within 3d canvas
It's interesting, but i have to ask. For those that prefer to use tokens like, well round tokens, will this still work or will it get wonky? Because, finding 3D models for all kinds of enemies, specially if you homebrew, may end up being a nightmare i think.
Yes, you can see from when i drop the 2D token it just uses the 2D image "standing up" - so circle tokens will just stand up and work pretty well in 3d in general - if you don't find a 3d mini that makes sense in the 500+ colored and 2000+ unclored ones that are included. You can also use heroforge
Adding that a recent update also added the "Coin" options for 2d tokens which will convert the 2d token into a coin laying flat on the map if you prefer that
@@theripper9300 Ohhh that's actually a pretty cool idea! Mostly, i sense that this mode, will allow some "Tabletop Simulator" style of play for my group.
