I’m a sucker for lyrical rap, but I did genuinely enjoy WLR for what it is. A fun album with no real consistency in themes aside from saying stupid shit to beefy synth beats. I will say tho, it lowkey gets me pumped for no reason
Bro literally has plot armor, think abt it he dropped his mixtape having songs like magnolia, wokeuplikethis, let it go etc, it was good, everyone loved it. He had a cypher where ppl said it was bad, or mediocre, and his xxl freestyle where people said it was unoriginal, thought he never fell off from it, and now some people think he was the best on the cypher Then he dropped die lit, personally i loved it and its his best album, but when it dropped, it got mixed feelings from people cuz it sounded different, but now its considered one of the best trap albums of all time(or at least the decade) He then teasted whole lotta red V1 containing songs like Skeleton, Goku, Drip, Molly, Cancun, Hellcat, Woah, etc. unfortunately a lot of the songs leaked, so he wasnt able to drop, making his album delay for 2 years, but somehow, after all of that time, people still found him relevant and good. Then the songs Pain 1993 and @Meh dropped, which carti was slandered due to his high pitched, barely understandable voice in both songs, ppl hated it, some ppl liked it, but somehow...THIS GUY DIDNT FALL OFF, OR LOSE POPULARITY, IN FACT HE GAINED POPULARITY. NOW PPL LUV THOSE SONGS, AND IT GREW ON THEM Then he dropped Whole Lotta Red, which had some controversial opinions, some thought it was bad, some thought it was mid, some though it was good, etc . But now a lot of people love the album, it was the #1 album of 2021(it was dropped late 2020 too) and it influenced several underground rappers at the time. Now hes STILL not dropping for more than 2 years, and he is still relevant, and being talked about. What im trying to say is, this guy never falls off, and for a reason, his variety of sounds keep the people entertained, and the people love it so much they make remixes and edits, to keep other people(Tiktok goofys) entertained as well

Not everybody loves Carti but the people that do really ride or die for his fan base. He’s like underground but mainstream at the same time but mostly he’s just super rare he only pops out the crib once a century But did you notice how after WLR every rapper stared using F1lthy/ Workingondying type beats same with Yeat too Yeat was inspired by Carti & now the whole industry is influenced by Yeat so if you think about it there would be no Yeat without Carti
That man is not underground in any sense of the word... or at least he hasn't been for like 10 yrs almost at this point lol... like I get what you mean but alternative is a better word for it

for me WLR is easily his best album, for me every song is amazing apart from meh, no sl33p, jumpoutthehouse and king vamp. Even those i enjoy listening to i just don’t think they’re amazing. Die lit and self titled are both great projects too, i like a good 2/3 of both of them but in terms of songs i think are amazing on them there’s less. Obviously it’s all opinions and WLR does have to grow on u a lot, at first listen i only liked 3 songs and i was saying what’s the hype with this guy
ngl i hated WLR initially and only liked 5 songs (except for ilyihu, beno and new tank, new neon, and place. like i thought it was a 2/10. but throughout 2021 ts grew on me n now i think it’s a very high 7 to low 8. it’s his worst project to me still but i love it now. however i wanna know what life woulda been like had he dropped WLR V1 in summer ‘19. and if he dropped WLR V2 on “MoNdAy” 2020. because all them 2019 V1 leaks were him at his best

I like wlr since the beginning so fuck it, I was starting to listen to trap at that time because where I live nobody listens to trap, but when I heard that, my taste in music changed forever, then I started listening to scarlxrd, X, ghostmane and some other unknown artists that I don't remember anymore
pierre and carti are perfect together, pierre’s beats are so good that they’re often the centre of attention and in my opinion carti is the best artist at complimenting a beat. Other rappers can make better verses on beats arguably but musically carti will give it the most potential
I assumed he was a jiggilo…. Would make sense…. Especially if he doesn’t need a bit label, means he never needed the help because he already had the power from anther source. You don’t need a label, you need money.
Idk.. I don't get it.. whatever it is that makes it good I just don't see it. But albums like this I usually don't like whether its Kanye with yeezus or death grips... I don't like those type of beats or experimentation I guess

I'll check it out... for now my recommendation would be to watch RU-vid videos and analyze them... notice trends beyond the usual cliches... mainly study the type of youtubers you wanna be like but also do stuff that goes beyond youtube... learn ab books, philosophy, different languages... expanding your mind is important. Lastly, always be willing to evolve and change... and don't give up
in 2020 I wasn't a Carti, but I saw all the hype on Twitter for wlr and I had to check it out when it came out. thought it was complete trash, like wtf is this shit. I only like slay3r and vamp anthem, but then mid 2021 I listened another time and started to like it, now in 2023 I'm an opium fan til death
@@KingBenny nah, this was before it dropped. I'm a big juice WRLD fan and some of the pages I followed were hyping up the release, even Lil Yachty. I really didn't care about Carti, but I had to see what they were going on about. after that the hate stated 💀, posts like "whole lotta ass", people saying it's called whole lotta red bc they ears were bleeding red, it was crazy and I even joined in bc I really thought it was trash at the time
Oh and also, it does have to do with the music, the messaging in the music? The fact he has a song called “vamp anthem” on an album called “whole lotta red” bisexuality is part of the music itself

@@KingBenny what’s so unique about overprocess, vocals and autotune? Just because you have a distinctive voice doesn’t make you unique. It’s the same triplet flow that all rappers use today. It’s old and tiring
@@XoTheMisfit if you have a distinctive feature by definition you can't then "sound like everyone else" it's music. There's only so much that can be done in terms of differentiating, and carti does that through his voice and instrumentation which as it relates to sound is the two most important elements
I think Self-Titled and Die Lit are straight trash TBH, but I like the energy Carti brings through on WLR. That being said, he's not a rapper. His rhymes and bars are all over the place and simplistic, repetitive, breathy, and everybody comments on the production, not the flows or the bars. That means he gets carried by his beats. Nobody ever says, "Remember that iconic Carti line?" No. His energy is his only redeeming quality. And, frankly, I think his chemistry with F1lthy is better than with P'ierre Bourne.
