I like this replay analysis. The thought process breakdown is extremely helpful for braindead people like myself.

"Your opponents are not as smart as you think. Even some players you think are good are just using very efficient habits." This might be a gamechanger for me. I'm constantly thinking my opponent is ready to play 4D chess. It also likely applies to me. I imagine many of my wins are just because I developed efficient habits for certain matchups. on god Anji spin carried me to celestial because it just smokes people habitually throwing out big buttons for maximum reward

I thought you we're being a little rough on him at the start, but the "Just because you don't know what to work on, doesn't mean you can't" in response to his "Why can't I improve at this" was a nice thing I appreciated. Personally only thing I woulda noticed about his flaws is that he winds up getting 100% meter and either dies with it or burst instead of yrc.

great vid. as a newer player it's really hard to learn opponent's habits while playing them, because i don't know what habits im looking for yet. maybe watching more of my own replays will help

like in general or just strive?

@@PinkPuffyPastry I play other games too, but mostly Strive. I have only fought a handful of Ky players ever. So i just need to play more and reflect on the opposing players' habits and common scenarios afterward. Seems like the first step to learning to do it in the moment.

It will come in no time, just be aware of it, and check replays to start recognizing patterns, it comes with time, atleast thats what it did for me in sfv

Same... And I've been playing Strive for awhile. It also hurts when you actually learn the playstyle and then hit you with the "one and done" 🙃🙃🙃

Give it time. For me at least what matters is that youre looking out for any advantage you can get during a match and always changing things up and playing at least 3 or 4 sessions weekly. Given time you'll be able to learn opponents habits and they'll adapt to your adaptation and things will open up. Its weird.

Loving this content in particular. I found myself really understanding the perspective of the Bridget VS Ky, and of the Baiken.

this gives me the same vibe as the 12th doctor talking about slowing down time to do math in the tardis in his own mind like i mean if you can teach me how to slow down time and go into my own brain i'll 100% take that but like aint nobody gonna figure that out

Good thought. A lot of the situations are just familiar to him, things like Ky's amount of damage needed to KO and Ram's ability to cover escapes aren't new to him. So, the focus is on if the opponent recognizes the situation too.

10:35 Oh my God..... That was the advice I needed. So many players eat me alive just like that smh. Sometimes I need to just fucking stop (alongside labbing, studying frames, and practicing more lol). Thank you for that.

I've always refered to this as Auto-piloting. maybe that's not the correct term though. Whatever it is, it plagued me in my last fighting game, Rivals of Aether. Since picking up Strive in June of 2022, I have made it my mission to break this mode of playing and perform a lot more intentionally. I think it's the reason I've excelled in strive a lot more than I ever did in Rivals, despite to date playing Rivals 4 times as long as Strive. I have become capable of picking up my opponents patterns really really fast. If I can't read them within half of a healthbar, it usually means they're a threat. And if I can't read them till match 2, then it means they know something I don't and I have to sweat to get matches 2 and 3. And that's kinda my main problem as of now. Fundamentally and offensively, I feel like I am good enough to throw even the best players for a loop every now and then with a few solid reads. My best career win to date is one game against HonoredOgre, and that was only out of three. I was pretty quickly able to pick up that they didn't really respect me or my buttons enough to tighten up their frametraps or watchout for my resources. And when I picked up on that, I kinda dominated game 3 by mashing out into my own pressure. But only game three, and only until I got hit and was sent into the Chipp blender. Which is my main problem, my defensive knowledge is very very limited. There are few situations in the game on defense where I actually know what my options really are, and if someone loops something I don't know about, I don't know where to even begin. And if I see it just once or twice, I can totally read when the opponent is going to do it again, but it doesn't actually help me very much if preempting isn't the solution. Like with Axl/Nago/Baiken falling j.H, I do NOT know how to deal with it. I can pick out when they're going to do it before they do it, and my brain says to 6P, but I get counterhit and then I get too frustrated to think. As an example.
