I expected him to be a crawler boy, a little disappointed. But, he's still super creepy, so its a massive plus regardless.

The perk "Unforseen" would probably be really good as Freddy, since Survivors failing skill checks to wake up will then power up the perk, so you have a way to punish survivors for failing checks just to get rid of your power.

The killer is so cool-looking, but the power is just kinda random, would’ve preferred if they made more of the hallucinations. The map is chef’s kiss though!

I do wish the power included some kind of crawl mechanic with how it was introduced, but he’s still cool and creepy nonetheless.

I get BHVR is good at subverting expectations, and I like this guy But I was excited for a stealth killer that can go on all fours and can possibly mimic in someway He does none of these things

Off the bat - great design all around. Issues with the power, 1. Hitting Survivors dead on doesn't help much, if at all. It allegedly slows them, but it doesn't seem like it does very much. It also cannot really be used as artillery because indoor maps and because branches cause it to bounce. 2. The bounce itself is usually more detrimental than helpful. I'm sure some mains can make some crazy bank shots with it, but the only way to reliably hit with it is to aim for the ground. 3. It takes a maximum of 4 hits to down a Survivor with it and a minimum of 3. It's not that bad, but it's a ranged version of Nemesis but easier to cleanse and doesn't give speed boost to affected Survivors. 4. Hallucinations are... Weird. You'd think they'd function like Doctor hallucinations, but they're instead Teleport points that... Are placed totally randomly, and can either be massively helpful or hugely detrimental based on where they're at. 5. Survivors can cleanse the useful ones, only leaving the useless ones - this is like a less useful version of Dredge's power in that it can't be reliably used in chase, nor is it that reliable for gen checking Other than that, the complaints largely come down to design - trailers made me believe it'd be like Blight-esque but with more stealth, this is just Bio-Bombs but creepy.

The lights coming through the wood in the basement makes me think of Hellraiser. It's a nice touch.

Seems like a really fun mechanic, and I'm always happy to see an original killer based on a classic fear. There's a handful already like coulrophobia with Clown or nyctophobia with Dredge. It's great to see then pull off the fear of the unknown so well, this might be my new favorite killer thematically.

They should make the circle be like a brand new part. All generators take 5-10% less to complete since its a one time use and youre broken forever.

Unknown's a really muddy design. He's got the crooked man/skinwalker vibes, a bouncing grenade launcher power, "hallucinations" you can teleport to, and his mori reads like The Thing. All these things, and for some reason, he's carrying an axe for his M1 attack. They're clearly going for an imposter/The Thing design here, but half his kit is so disconnected. He looks like an AI approximation of a prompt like "creepypasta imposter killer"

I mean could you imagine the possible negatives of the invocation perk applying the drawbacks to whoever finishes it over who started it? Like imagine not having that kind of perk, maybe not even knowing about the perk type but helping someone who has one do theirs, only to suddenly have debuffs like broken for the rest of the match in this case because whoever you were helping left the thing before it finished? New players would just be like "Nope! Never touching that again!"

That invocation perk would be super strong if the gen progress stacks differently depending on how many gens left

I hope they will add a skin featuring the creature being more visible, seing him tearing through the skin, having tentacles with meat and bones of his victims. Or the opposite, having him go full skinwalker

for the people who didn't watch the video all the way thru, the pink and yellow gas that starts building up on the side of your screen when playing the Unknown helps you know when you're gonna spawn a hallucination. once the gas stuff reachs the top of the screen then a hallucination spawns at your feet edit: HOLD ON DID ANYONE SEE THE BUGGED PICKUP ANIMATION AT 18:32? PTB moment Ig xdd

Such a awesome chapter! 20:01 At first I thought that was two survivors healing until I realized it was the Unknown's hallucination, but their hallucinations are super cool though!

While the power is cool, it is much more practical to use it passively as if you were skipping rocks as it explodes a few meters in front of the first bounce. It is stronger to use M1 in combination with power due to the cooldown. Pallets pretty much always confirm weakened by shooting underneath them or at the walls next to them. Windows can be shot in front of to make the window become engulfed in the explosion radius. You can precharge the power by tapping it (you can even spam power and it doesn't slow you down), which doesn't slow you down kind of like how demogorgon's shred works, and then you can hold the power button down to confirm the charge in which case you will be slowed down regardless of what you do. The teleporting to hallucinations can be used for zoning in such a oppressive manner. It isn't useful next to resources due to its incredibly long swing cooldown. On filler pallets the hallucinations are best used at the end of the long side because survivors don't have time to reach the pallet. The weakened lasts for around so long that you can fire 1 to 2 shots and the cooldown of the power is uncomfortable to manage. If you hit with the power you should not close out M1 as the two pair well with each other and give more time to land the down with power. In fact weakened into M1 into power down seems to be the fastest way to down with the killer. (It is almost insane as the second hit is almost guaranteed with the skipping stone strategy) The Unknown seems like a mix of anti-loop, zoning and a hard punish game. The combinations of power usage, M1's and teleporting will make for some great combos.

Dredge and Unknown look like they would be homies. Hell, they both live in the same realm.

At first the Killer seemed spooky but in game he looks like a Goober. Animations and his power really betray the horror aspect.

Something important to remember as a tip for this killer, It bounces off of objects the exact way they are facing, meaning if you shoot it over a surface facing up it bounces and extends the distance forward, it can also hit a wall after that if you are using the purple milk carton add on ^^, Simple terms, Its a bouncy ball

Killer is like a mix of singularity, demigorgon, ghost face, artist, clown, AND dredge all at once

Considering invocation perks are new im surprised sable didnt come with 2 especially since if another survivor has an invocation perk it goes 100% faster. Also we rrally need to be able to see perk loadouts in the lobby screen because invocations can essily go south if survivors dont play around them or know witch invocation is going to be used

I like the unique perk concepts, grtting a new killer and new map is nice too, just good overall

4:02 I wish this would confuse the killer, but sadly it won't. The broken side effect doesn't just leave you vulnerable for the rest of the game, it also announces to the killer exactly what just happened.

Damn... the new survivor 🥵

I've played a lot of The Unknown in the ptb, he can be super powerful if you learn to consistently snipe survivors from really far with the power, it's easy to do if you know there is at least one person a gen. You just need practice When you run into a survivor randomly even if they are healthy, because of the weakened you applied and left on earlier you can hit them then down them with UVX within seconds of starting chase. The hallucinations don't require much intention behind where they go but they can be extremely strong if you see an aura across the map and get right on top of them. I got a down only about a second after tping since the survivor was injured and either ran that way or were going to dispel it. It can be almost as strong as a hag trap sometimes AND they don't know it when or if you will tp. My personal favorite addon is the green that gives survivors weakened when they complete a gen for the same reason that sniping people with the power is good. Can lead to some very short chases. The 50% faster speed regain after tp brown addon is very nice for extra loop counterplay and the green that makes weakening survs charge up the hallucinations by 15 seconds (from 10 seconds) is also very nice.

Why do I feel like this chapter is important and essential to dbd lore.

That new survivor perk where you do a ritual actually could be amazing in a 3 gen situation! Especially if you have a man down.

The explosion of the power is actually similar to nemesis's where it can hit over objects but also I found on erie of crows you can shoot the edge of the second floor and hit a survivor as long as they arent on the balcony section. Meaning you can very easily hit people with little visibility

He was bummed out that his character was the broken one. And I think the killer has a perk that when he kicks a gen the terror radius is on the gen

An idea I have for this killer (and/or addons) is that if a survivor gets hit by the power, then decoys that see that survivor should start moving towards them. Or alternatively the killer could trigger the decoy to look for infected survivors in that area (possibly removing the ability to teleport to that decoy then). This entire chapter is really well done however I am loving the look of it!

Territorial imperative will actually be useful now. Before hand it was absolutely useless but getting that info could be game changing.

Another fact about the circle perk - If nobody is on it it starts regressing FAST, and there's a short delay where you can't instantly get back on it, so you really want to stick it. I'm gonna guess it'd work well paired with deadhard and ds, if you've already been hooked you can finish circle even if killer is just about to hit you then insta deadhard. I wonder if no mither would actually be alright with it, since you're gonna be broken anyway, only downside is if you get chased before doing it.

I can think of a possible build that could compliment the incantation they can also run no-mither and resilience so that way they always benefit from being injured and they can run a 4th perk of choice I think a few good prime choices would be prove thyself if you're in a swf (which is probably the only way to viably use this perk) or dead hard for some security in chase (but in any case where you use that ability you should avoid the killer as much as possible) which is why I advise to use the perk in a swf where everyone else is running perks that benefit from protection hits like OTR also everyone is running a brand new part on a toolbox that has increased repair speed to speed up the first couple of gens and someone using built to last so that way everyone constantly has fresh tool boxes

7:58 jajo attempting to perform the genkick 5% repairs to stop regression abuse (if you stop reparing. the required percent for repair goes up. meaning you can prevent the gen from ceasing to regress when not repaired. which means you can stop the killer from kicking the gen.)

I’m mixed on this chapter. The new survivor is just not for me in visual design or perks. The killer seems awesome, I love the visual design and the work the animation team did is amazing. The thing looks and moves like my worst nightmares. I just was desperately hoping he would be a mimic/ disguise based killer. All the marketing for the chapter (which was great btw I loved the constant teasing and the analog vibe of the whole thing) made it seem like it would be a mimic power with maybe an ambush attack where it crawls on all 4’s after a survivor. But alas I am burned again for hoping it’s a disguise killer. I think what they did has a lot of depth and strategy to be discovered so I’m happy about that but man it’s disappointing they didn’t do a mimic killer. I’m excited to get my hands on him when he comes out.

I know there's an add-on that kinda does this. But it would honestly be so cool if when you dispelled a hallucination, you got a heartbeat that progressively got more intense as the bar filled. As if the killer was getting closer to you. I know it ultimately wouldn't do much, but I feel like it'd enhance the immersion aspect

So even though I don't quite like the grenade as his power with him being a sort of analog horror nightmare, I do like the game it creates. Usually the way you wanna play is the Killer is trying to hold line of sight while chasing as close by as possible. The survivors on the other hand are trying to break line of sight to be unpredictable and maybe escape. But as the unknown after you get your first blast on a survivor it's in your best interest to try and avoid line of sight while still staying close, ducking in and out of cover, taking flanks around. And the survivor is actively trying to stay in line of sight, trying to keep their eyes on you, because if not then they don't break their weaken, and you can still land your power without being able to see them. The complete reversal of who wants to see who is pretty interesting.

Tbh I feel like a third of his addons should be base kit He's such a well-designed killer, he just needs some QoL improvements some of his addons give

otz, what if 5 gens are 99%, the killer has deadlock, & an incantation is completed? do all 5 gens get completed, bypassing deadlock? or does deadlock counter the incantation?

I would love it if the Unknown had some kind of crouch (or crawl :D) to help hide from survivors' LOS, seemed like it would've been a natural fit since there's a reveal mechanic and he was teased to crawl :P would add to the creepyness too!

The power just seems so random

This may sound crazy but I think invocation needs a buff

There are so many connecting loops and even more pallets to boot, it's crazy

there should be a unique animation if a hallucination is teleported to while its being dispelled. kind of like when you open a locker while the dredge is in it but its one hit instead of a grab. like a little jump scare almost where the unknown shouts and lunges at you with the axe.

He definitely needs better animations. Example - like one of alternative "Famous Mister Bobinski" from "Coraline". He should be more like a rag doll.
