Mart there was a memo don’t anger the Finn’s and yet you did. I wish you the best of luck from the frozen and broke hellscape known as Newfoundland Canada when you tackle the track again. Good luck bhy….
Another fun fact: Inside of cologne cathedral, in front of a Statue of the Virgin Mary, there is a small stone pillar, and inside of it, there is a fucking credit card reader for donations. Yeah thats right. The big man upstairs accepts credit card.
Little fact about the bronze covered stones: All over Germany there are similiar stones called "Stolpersteine" (tripping stones), which are the same in looks, but also got the names of victims of the Holocaust engraved into them. Their locations match the old adresses of those victims.
We have quite allot of them here in my hometown They arent matching the look of a normal stone, but more small signs with the victims data on them Still its a nice thing for us to remember what this country did and that we can avoid repeating this mistake
not exactly all over germany some places forbid to have those memorials on the ground as they think it would be disgracefull to those people to step on their names (litterally) which is why they instead have the names on the walls of certain houses
In germany u usually have to ask to pay at Restaurants. If u dont ask them to bring the bill it can take ages. Actually pretty good getting it in 40 mins haha
my family was litterally about to kill the workers, in portugal (were im from) you can get huge starters, a very good meal and a dessert for 4 people and leave the restaurant in less than 30 minutes
@@ismayonez6865 agreed, bringing a check to a table without them asking for it beforehand sounds incredibly rude to me(giving they havent been there for 3 hours or smthing)
@@ismayonez6865usually when they look like they're not eating anymore you ask if they're done and if they'd like the bill, then if they say yes, you give em the bill and they pay They = the customers
@@ismayonez6865To add to the response above me, less friendly establishments will slap a check on the table as soon as possible, figuring you'll just ask if you decide to order more.
10:20. Another fact: The Cologne Cathedral suffered fourteen hits by aerial bombs during World War II. It did not collapse, but stood tall in an otherwise flattened city.
Yes, many famous images showing it as one of the only structures still left standing in the city, with almost all the surroundings reduced to complete rubble. It's also where the famous Cologne Tank Duel occurred.
Its actually the „Richter Fenster“, designed by the German Artist Gerhard Richter. I think it‘s supposed to look great when the light is reflected on the floor and was randomly generated with the original colours of the cathedrals windows. That beeing said, I think it looks really shitty. Love from Cologne thanks for visiting :)
It is 2,000 kilometres from Germany to Finland, Martin. It takes 25 hours to drive this route, Martin. That's less than you have to drive a rally circuit in Finland, Martin. And you have to drive it, we don't forget Martin.
10:44 the "random arrangement of different colored tiles" is actually really nice when you're in the kölner dom at the right time. it makes the whole middle section incredibly colorful :> aside from that, more modern art displays can be found as the dome is never truly finished. theres even a statue holding a smartphone somewhere on the outside.
To get from the southern tip of Germany to Helsinki, you would need to drive 2500km, which is roughly 1/24th of the way Martin needs to drive around Finland in My Summer Car.
this game reminds me of my cousn that just passed tp cancer at the age f 23. the last time i saw him he told me he was hyped for the game and cant wait to play it. he lost the fight after 4 long years undergoing chemo, getting half his lung taken, his leg amputated and studying at the same time. he stayed happy all to the end and even managed to write his own grave speech. such a cool and kind guy
I work at the German Train company in cologne and was working on the traintrack/platform right next to the Kölnmesse, I did not see a single person I know over the entirety of the event, but the nice talks at the end of every day were quite fun, when all the people were waiting for a train to arrive and I could just take some time to get up to date without participating at the gamescom :)
I think the term he used was 'uncirculated', meaning it was fresh from the bank and whoever gave it to him collected it directly from the bank to give to people, making Mart receiving it the first 'transaction' it did.
@@stetson_newsie2600 to explain it to you, Deep rock galactic is a PVE Coop shooter by ghost ship games. it has some of the, if not THE BEST, music, community and gameplay and whateverelse i can think of. and the music youve heard in the video. at least that part on the crane liftup was from that game! give player of the game chills if they hear it (id describe it like that for the lack of a better word). if i can give you one single tip. BUY THAT GAME NOW! and yes even if its not on sale...its worth the 30€ it has a season pass thats completely free and fully unmissable and some PURELY cosmetic DLCs that, might i say, look absolutely fantastic! thats it go buy the game and make a opinion by yourself! YOURE NOT GONNA REGRET IT🤞👍
@@stetson_newsie2600 I'm not sure if I 100% understand your question, but deep rock galactic is a video game and there were snippets of its music used in the video; specifically at 1:22 - 1:28 , 5:00 - 5:06 and 5:29 - 5:42 (there may be more I missed). The songs used are called "They're Here!" and "Attack of the Glyphids" from the Deep Rock Galactic soundtrack, and in general, deep rock galactic has stellar music; highly recommend the listen. I don't know if I could fit deep rock's music into a single genre though, and as for the rest of music in the video, there are many songs from all over; too distinct to lump together in a single genre. This includes "The Blue Danube Waltz" made back in 1866 used from 3:25 - 3:47 (distorted fart sfx not included). Hope this helps. :)
I was gonna say. Took a trip from Hannover to Munich by train (because I had to catch a flight there)... I started a day early and nearly missed my flight
I like how Martin is the famous RU-vidr that brings his friends around traveling but he’s like the side character in the friend group. Like the other guy got interviewed and Martin was just watching🧍🏻♂️
fun fact: most old cathedrals where in construction for hundreds of years due to the complexity of all the engravings and stonework, even today complex and beautiful cathedrals take multiple years and sometimes even decades to build.
Big up to my two story Maccas with the conveyor belt thing. I got a box of 50 nuggies in like March 2020 for my flight back to Scotland and I demolished those bad boys.
I would like to require the Scientology book to go with Martin wherever he is and make a cameo in every vlog. Underwear can wait, shove it in the suitcase at all costs
I've been to Köln. Absolutely beautiful city full of awesome people, and it really is impossible to comprehend quite how huge the cathedral is until you see it with your own two eyes. Got to love the Kölsch too.
Great job travelling around Germany glad you didn't have to drive so much but watch out the Finnish live near there. Don't let them close the distance.

As a Bavarian I can only say that we don’t drink our beer in so little measures like half a liter (3:25). Lettuce be the alkoholics we truly are and tell the people we drink beer one liter at a time 😂
As a Rancher/farmer it is wild to me that there is a strong culture behind a video game that is my life. Not only that but the fact that it is competitive as well.
As someone who has spent a lot of time in munich and cologne this was really fun to watch! Also great job with the pronunciations, they were spot on (at least most of the time 👀)
fun fact about cologne cathedral! it was the main point the allies wanted to take during the battle for cologne and on the road just out front is where the famous cologne tank battle took place between a German panther and an m26 Pershing
11:38 Fun fact: Germans love working, so it's no wonder that a farm worker simulator is extremely popular. Because for us Germans it is only natural to relax after work, by simulate a more work.
the reason they took so long with the bill is bcs most places in germany you have to call them to the table (which is rude in most other places but customary in germany) I hope you had a great time!:)
2 corrections. A mars is 1 whole liter and the Kölner Dom is never done building since it constantly needs repairs due to the structure and material made with. Due to that there is a saying that the Kölner Dom is never done buildig until all the scaffoldings are removed which is when the cathedral has been given up and left to decay.
