To put in perspective how crazy Jerry Rice's numbers are: When Steve Largent retired, he was the all-time leader in Receptions and Yards. Jerry finished with almost double the amount of receptions and TD's as Largent, and just less then 10,000 more yards. Just incredible...13 x Pro Bowler, and still had over 1,000 yards Receiving at age 40. More pass happy era for sure, but still just amazing.
@raymagsoudlou7609

Rice also dropped more balls in 1 game than Largent did his whole career. Rice was great. But if you don't think being on great teams didn't help him you are dreaming. Also the game started changing then. Now almost every team throws the ball 40+ times a game. Passing numbers don't matter now. If your up 40 points keep chucking that football. Up 40+ point starting QB is still in the game chucking the football. It's actually boring to watch. The rules changes make sure defenses can't play. Rice was great. I love the Steve's! Smith Sr was always a baller, I loved watching him get defenders off their game before it even started and every time I hear about or see Largent the song "Believe it or not" just pops in my head. Largent was so fun to watch, he was like the Larry Bird of football, you just couldn't believe that little guy was accomplishing what you were seeing. Of course, Jerry was great and so was Michel, I was waiting for Jerry to say he also sprayed stick em' on his tennis shoes as well. As much as I admire Mike and Jerry they would sometimes bore me. Jerry was like a machine, automatic. He was so fast and precise it's was like watching elaborate domino schemes, it's fun to watch a few times and then you kinda know what's coming. As bombastic as Irving is and was on the field, it was kind of the same with him. I like listening to them talk about their careers, you gotta give it to Mike he's not boring when he talks football. Having read Bill Walsh's book about the west coast offense has certainly help me see JR and MI's game in a much better light, especially Jerry Rice. It's amazing How many teams used that system. I used to think it was just the perfect assignment sheet or something like that. To hear it talked about back in the day, that's what I always pictured it was, but it's way more detailed and at the same time accessible. The system is so nearly perfect that once you understand it within your team, creativity becomes part of your physical game and execution equals greatness. The way Bill wrote the book, it really is the greatest revelation of the modern game. The variants and combinations within the west coast offense are endless and the more you engage with it, it starts to become like a matrix (I use this term loosely) in which you can view the entire game, kinda like putting virtual reality glasses on your brain instead of your eyes. Once you start understanding how it all goes together it becomes a way of thinking about everything you do and the system can be applied to every aspect of your life. It certainly makes you love football all over again.

I remember those Brown's teams of the 80's, they were tough I believe they were referring to were Frank Minnifield, and Hanford Dixon. Talk about how time's have changed, from the Brown's being what they were and are now vs the New England Patriots who in those days were the Brown's of today. Not to mention Bill Belichick actually coached the Brown's, before ending up in New England.

Steve Largent deserves more credit hands-down than all of these receivers, he played in a different area. The 5 yard bump rule was not introduced into the NFL, as well as what linebackers could get away with as far as the violence and physically n the game was much different and Steve Largent did not wear gloves the technology was not as advanced as it is today factoring all this in there can be a case made for STEVE LARGENT was a beast.
