Thank you for the video, I really enjoy your straight forward honesty. I have literally just taken delivery of this radio as my second field radio, the 817 being my primary QRP radio, and I am really just starting to get my head around it. Thank you for the very useful information. 73 M6KVK
+Wyowanderer777 Thanks for the feedback. I'm sure you'll enjoy this radio, they're so versatile, and they've been around for so long any bugs have been ironed out long ago. I'm actually considering getting another one for the shack.
A BIG thanks for making this video. I was surprised that your FMJ-945E had any effect on the 1080 AM broadcast given that tuner is only spec'd to cover 1.8 to 60 MHz. Have you tried the using the 945E when your 857D is set between 76 to 108 MHz (the FM Broadcast band)?? To my knowledge, no one makes an antenna tuner that is spec'd to cover 76 to 108 MHz.
Back in the 70s myself and some mates used to do medium wave broadcasts at weekends and on bank holidays etc. No exciting offshore stuff to report unfortunately.
