I used a straight (not L shaped) metal bracket I bought at the hardware store, stuck one end in between the base and the plate it screws on to, and clamped the other end to my desk with a C clamp. Gives me a lot of stability super cheap and simple.
For the wheel mounting plate I bought a brace (along with a ton of other bits) from Mark at Lowdown Shifter. Great product and a great guy. I still need to address the play in the hinge as in your video, but Mark has said he's in the final stages of developing a solution to that problem. My two cents.
Just heat the 3D print with a heatgun or a hairdryer. Then you can get it in position without sandpaper and after cooling down it fits very tight. Much less movement in the stearing now!! Very cool. I print it myself with the model on thingiverse - thx to the creator!!
Had mine 5 years and had no issues with it, you do feel the vibration of the wheel through the whole seat but to be honest I kinds like it ( especially as when playing in vr) as it almost feels like having a motion rig if sorts, I've only got a t300 on mine though n after using a mates fanetec n feeling the power I can see how this need to be made stronger 😂
@@PaultheSimRacer Do you feel the same issue could be caused with a Fanatec CSL Elite Wheel Base/Wheel setup? Or is it not as heavy/as strong as the CSW 2.5 to cause issues?
I found that the wheel bounce was more pronounced when the base plate was on the furthest or nearest 4 hole positions. Because the centre of the wheel base isn't supported centrally by the bar, it has a slightly levering action once steering pressure is supplied, creating more up and down movement. Keeping the wheel base plate in the central position reduces this dramatically. Just adjust the chair instead.
Yea it’s not possible with the csl elite either. I’m going to see if I can drill my own mounting holes in a different position so I can mount it in the central position.
You could probably just use an extra strap or something near where it connects part and strap it down to the bottom of chair bar just to keep it really tight
I use a playseat challenge and I run a Fanatec DD1. I have the same 3D printed parts for the wheel deck hinge but I have also added a support that goes from the wheel deck plate down to just behind the hinge using Ram mounts so I can loosen it and still tilt the wheel deck up. I have also made down tubes with camara mounts and ram mounts that go from the wheel deck hoop down to the pedal mount. all supports can be loosened in seconds and it all still folds up. I do remove the pedal mount from the rest of the seat to put it away at the DD wheel base 1.5 shifter and V3 pedals make it quite heavy if left as 1 large piece.
@Neonnite - any chance of an image or video of it, I'm really interested in improving mine further. Also how's it with the DD1? I'd love a DD but figured it wouldn't work with the playseat.
I've been using the playseat here for about a solid 4-5 years. Started out using the G27 on it and now i've upgraded. I definitly know what you mean by the flexing from the wheel. Like someone stated in the comments, i have my set up prop against the table to stop any flexing movement. My only problem now is thinking of a way to mount me CSL elite pedal. I saw online where heavy duty Zip tie cables work really well but i want thinking maybe hardmounting it using 2 long steel bars.
@@daviddanser8011I use to do this with my Logitech pedals but the the duct tape will not hold the Fanatec pedals from the force i'm braking from. I actually got these 200lb zip ties to secure everything in place. This thing is solid now and aint going anywhere
Yup I think either is fine. My friend is getting a CSL elite for his playseat, so will see what it's like when I try it. I like the CSW though, it seems to work fine with the playseat.
I've had playseat challenge for a while now, but just upgraded to a fanatec wheelbase and clubsport v3 pedals. I got my wheelbase pushed against the table, so it eliminates the movement and theres no problem with that. However has anyone made or found, or is it even possible to make a mod for the pedals so I could use higher loads with the loadcell? I think it would need a whole new base under the pedals and somehow mounted differently on the chair...
@Sebastian Stenius, I bought a luggage strap to keep the pedal base in place. The two red bolts that come by default with the seat are sh*t and don't stop the pedals from moving away... but the strap does a perfect job. Easy and effective!
How did you mount the Fanatec wheelbase? Did you drill holes? The only way I could do it was by moving the plate forward but now it's perhaps too close to me.

I then moved the plate back (which meant I could only get 2 bolts in and not the front one of the triangle ... I did it up tight and to be honest - it is fine, doesn't move at all).
@@PaultheSimRacer i did it aswell like you except i drilled a little piece out of the challenge plate/ where the third bolt didnt get in, works perfectly
this is a shame.......for 200 Euro you have to felx, clamp and mod this seat? Thank gof ive bought it used for 100 Euros. So im not that much angry like i would if i spend 200 on it.
Hey man Im using G29 wheel and want to buy this Playseat with Fanatec loadcell pedals to improve braking consistency. Is it flexing when braking? I wont use the Fanatec wheel until I move to new flat and buy a better rig.
Hi, how do i actually fit this? How far is the smaller piece supposed to go into the removable tube? And once fitted in said tube how far it is supposed to go into the larger diameter chair frame? Also does the button/stop mechanism near the hinge side still work with this in place? Fining it all difficult to visualise in my head and the pic aren't very clear to me.
I struggled myself at first too. The smaller piece goes into the end of the frame tube all the way up to where it flanges out wider (this confused me as the one I got sent didn't fit into the tube at all, so I had to sand it down to fit). The larger bit goes over as far as it can go (it stops at a certain point). The button / stop mechanism still works.
@@PaultheSimRacer thanks so the smaller tube with the new plastic part fitted goes completely inside the larger chair tube all the way to the same depth as it did before without the new parts?
This rocking motion on the playseat challenge just cost me a wheel rim. My fanatec wheel broke a pin off inside with the over rocking. Going back to my GT Omega from today...thankfully Fanatec ship quickly so my new rim should be here friday. Frustrating and costly though.
How can the rocking motion damage a pin if the rim is properly connected to the base? Just cant see it... Speaking of that does anyone if im supposed to use the rim fixing bolt that came with my quick release fanatec rim and base set? Its included but whats the point of a quick release if i need to also screw in a screw each time?

I just ordered these parts off ebay as well...Do they come with instructions? I'm still not entirely sure how these parts are installed? Any input or guidance would be much appreciated.
So it confused me too, but actually was pretty easy in the end. You push the pin on the hinge of the bar (which holds your wheel), undo it from the frame. Put the big block over the top of it, then put the small block in the end of it. Then re fit to the frame. (Hopefully this with the video may help)
@@PaultheSimRacer Finally got the parts and they were easy to assemble, assuming I did it correctly...The smaller piece, I slid that into the foldable / wheelbase tube until it was flush (opposite side of the turning locking mechanism), then slid the larger piece over it on the same tube. After sliding the foldable / wheelbase tube back into the chair and having the push pin engage, I found it to be more stable. However, just to make sure I did it correctly, I undid the pushpin to pull the foldable /wheelbase tube out of the chair and the smaller piece in that tube fell out and remained inside of the chair's tube (I know, a lot "tube" usage, it's hard to explain). I did notice that when installing the smaller piece it wasn't very snug, I probably should have glued it into position. That being said, I was still able to slide the foldable / wheelbase tube back into the chair where the smaller piece remained and am able to engage the larger block to stabilize that side. Again this all assuming I was installing it correctly....Maybe one day I'll have the proper tools and patience to fish out the smaller piece and superglue it into position. Hope this helps anyone else who gets these parts.
