Plea Deal Goes Wrong When Judge Grills Defendant! 

Hopefully he learned that actions have consequences but I have a feeling he'll be back soon. I don't think he understands what probation even is... or how to check in with probation with out having an adult babysitter to guide him. Yeah I'm saying velcro instead of shoelaces.

He was trying to play cool with the judge. You see how fast he straightened up when she said “the court will sentence you to 10 years”. He dropped the goofiness fast!

I think he’ll be back in jail quicker than before the summer

He may last a month. He'll violate the day he's released. It will take about a month before he catches the attention of the police.

I see him violating for not checking in with probation. He should have told the judge his wife had 3 children but I'm not convinced he knows his own birthday.

I give him 72 hours

He thinks he's slick, is my opinion. He is used to charming women. Wrong judge to try that on.

Apparently there are women who find a mumbling, unemployable, aloof, ignorant buffoon who can’t site the birthdates of his two, so far, children, charming.

She's a POS Judge, always goes above the agreed upon plea, gives multiple stipulations for people who have issues following the simplest rules. This guy obviously has mental health issues and she's basically setting him up to fail like most of her cases. Most of her cases end up back in court. Give someone a little bit of power and they run with it. She'll be off the bench soon enough.

@@JP_IN_TX I'm very aware that she says it daily -- she's being pedantic too (I like her, for the record, so not just me hating). A defendant casually referring to their children as "kids" has no legal ramifications, that's a correct dictionary definition of the word

He is a classic scammer. He is doing that to look innocent, but he is thinking about his responses while he is doing it. It is how scammers hide their intent under the eye of those they are scamming.

@SupportTheArts-yo8ox she probably thought he had a defense. Even if he lost, he would likely end up with the same sentence as the deal he took.

She was not trying to help him by asking if he wanted a jury trial. He just wasn't saying he wanted to go along with the plea. Instead, he kept saying he just wanted to get out of jail as soon as possible. She asks direct questions that require direct answers. Typically, jury trials end up with longer sentences than taking a plea deal would.

She wanted to make sure he understood what his options were and whether his attorney explained things properly to him.

I get so sick of reading this bullshit, "From the brief video it appears he has some cognitive issues." I would bet my life that you're not credentialed to make that assessment. "This could be caused by trauma, substance abuse or perhaps he was born this way," yet, he's been proven to be competent to stand trial. Do you know what the standard is to use "cognitive issues" as a defense? Not everything is a mental health issue--some people are just dumb and others are dumb criminals--he's a dumb criminal. "He said he was innocent, so how can she accept his plea?" It's called an Alford Plea. Stop pretending you know more than you actually do.

All he has to do is not commit crimes, something that most of the population do without effort.
