This video talks through how to stuff a plush to be floppy. But first, it's important to choose a pattern that would work well as a floppy plush and to use the right materials.

Oh my god the look of it from the front when you flop the front legs is literally to die for!! I personally love body pillow styled plushies which I've only ever had or seen one of aside from the cheapy 'meh' ones from japanese pages and shops. I absolutely love this 'furry' styling of a floppy plush. It's absolutely perfect!! I've really been thinking of mixing my two loves. I am super into art dolls but I have always been super intimidated by the clay side of it, but I'm not intimidated by plush. This sort of style could be amazing for bridging the gap between the two. You've opened up my hopes for plushy making so much!! Can't wait to see you hopefully talking about those mochi paws some time in the future, they are just AMAZING AAAGGGGHHHH

Is thread sculpting paws a bit more of a challenge with the beanie pellets in there too or is it about the same if stuffed normally? I love watching these videos!!
@makeshiftwingsplush
@makeshiftwingsplush 3 года назад
you can still thread sculpt and get some definition, you can't just get EXTREME definition since there's only so much that the pellets can move around 😅 if you still want to do a heavy amount of thread sculpting (like signficantly changing the shape of the paws with it), you can start by filling the paws with polyfill and then add the pellets in a pouch behind it, but then depending on the shape and placement of the pouch, the paws might not flop as much since you want the pellets to be at the very end for maximum movement ^^

What are your recommendations for a goat floppy plush, I'm having great trouble patterning the legs where they meet the body

if you dont have much experience patterning i'd recommend purchasing a floppy pattern and modifying it to fit your needs. here are a couple i know of: www.etsy.com/listing/487057310/floppy-fox-toy-plush-sewing-pattern-pdf www.etsy.com/listing/1221617122/pdf-sewing-pattern-floppy-vaporeon-plush alternatively here is a blog post on patterning belly gussets: whileshenaps.com/2011/01/elements-of-soft-toy-design-underbodies.html

Hey what do you do with all the prototype plushies? Do you get to keep them all
@makeshiftwingsplush
@makeshiftwingsplush 3 года назад

Hi MS. Could you post a guide on how to add darts, step by step? I found your old Tumblr guide on it, but I was left confused on some things, like wouldn't unfolding the paper also create a gap at the bottom of your pattern, increasing the overall size? I thought the aim of darts was to insert a gap without changing the pattern length? Think I'm overthinking the whole dart thing, but I'm currently stuck on a project and no where really explains the process without leaving me confused lol.

i plan on making a dart tutorial eventually. if you need something now, try out beezeeart's tutorial on darts here on youtube. it doesn't leave a gap because you sew the triangle together and that will bring the gap back together after its sewn. the way you pattern the dart should result in the pattern looking exactly the same as before you added the dart, except with a dart in the specific area. it should not change the overall shape or size at all.
