Check out this video on how my dad and I started building a couple of plywood aquariums and recorded the process. It's been a long time coming and we made a lot of little mistakes but in the end we are seeing some great results and now we are filling them up.
Make sure you come back to check out the 2nd part of this series as we fill the tanks, plumb them, and begin stocking.

Some of these clips were some of the first videos I ever recorded when I started getting serious about RU-vid. It's crazy to think how far I've come in the last several months. It really encourages me to keep practicing and improving more and more still!

Those tanks will be substantially stronger than almost anything you would've been able to buy. Buying those tanks custom and having them made would've taken a good bit of lead time I assume. As will be 3-4x the price difference for other tanks. High end tanks are not cheap. $1,300 for two tanks of that size is an absolute no-brainer... Build it!

Yeah it's been pretty fun to do it as well. Some very stressful moments but at the same time we've also had some great breakthroughs that have been very rewarding and worth it

Seen a video once from DIY King Joey that he had pvc elbows facing up in the inside of the aquarium which raised the water level a bit and also worked as a surface skimmer. I think u should try that. Especially if ur really not going to have small fish or any fish. Lmk ill send u a link Great to see you working side by side with ur dad. He seems so into it which is an amazing quality for a father to have. Awesome dude, just awesome👍

I can't remember what I said about the fish but we are planning on putting quite a few fish in there :-) I'm having a hard time picturing what you're talking about do you have a picture or anything?

I did my tank and i fiberglassed the seams as well...Are u guys going to do that? Nice vid as usual and keep em coming. Doing this with your pops is the big thing to me. I wish my pops was like yours...Family makes things better!
@aquaticbobs
@aquaticbobs 2 года назад
Yeah thank you :-) we didn't fiberglass the seams, we just dumped a hole boatload of epoxy in all the corners. Before we put the epoxy on we put a heavy duty glue to help seal and hold all the corners together as well

Where in Minnesota ate you? If you go on GLASS CAGES website you can build your own tank. I checked on basic 300 gallon 96L x 24w x 30T it was around $1900

Os reforços deveriam ser colocadas no lado interno da tanque. Ficou um excesso externo não agradavel aos olhos. Deveria ter feito estilo "Trava Francesa".

Hey bob if I was to use that pond armor on 3 pieces on plywood 8 inches by 39 inches how much would I need? Is 1.5 qts enough? Thanks
@aquaticbobs

I would definitely get the gallon, we actually had to buy more Because we wanted one extra coat just to be on the safe side

They are holding together super well, we've had some inconsistencies in keeping stable water parameters but everything we built has been perfect so far

@aquaticbobs Год назад
Yeah we wound up tearing them down and I sold one of them. The other one still works great too. We hadno issues at all for the time they were running! If we did it again we probably would have made them a little bit smaller because it was too much for my dad to manage when I wasn't there

People that buy new aquariums for thousands of dollars are crazy. I buy all my aquariums used off Facebook or Craigslist. I’ve seen 300 gallons for less than $1500
@aquaticbobs
@aquaticbobs 2 года назад
Yeah I can see that for sure, especially if you live in a crowded area there's probably a lot more options nearby as well
