Here we see 1225 leaving with train at Washington St. Here is a lesson of when you stand too close to a steam train when it goes by under full steam. Feel free to comment on this video!
Yeah, that IS a Canadian sound! And the driver is really quilling the whistle, best 5-chime quilling job I've heard in a long while. I am so glad that this video was made. I would love to hear a CNR 4-chime step-top!
Yes!! Finally someone who agrees with me!!!! That origional whistle sounded like it should be mounted on a tank engine! Big Locomotives need a awesome whistle.
I live near Windsor been around 5588 most of my life, great little 4-6-2, big drivers, but no stroker haha. Nice to hear her voice, maybe one day will get to hear her stack talk as long as they get some muscles at the foot plate haha
That IS one wonderful whistle! Beautiful minor 6th chord, unusual for a 5-chime. I'm gonna guess CNR, older one. A friend of mine had one of these, we blew it and it sounded just like this.
@PereMarquette1223 765 has a Nathan six chime that once was mounted on the original Nickel Plate berkshire #700. 765's whistle was destroyed before the rebuild back in 1979.
Ill agree with you that the original PM whistle doesnt sound good at all. But CNR 5588's whistle just is SOOO beautiful! And 1225's crew wasnt afraid to exercise in this vid now were they?! haha!
