Glad you caught that Basculin. I took a chance myself when I played the game for the first time and came across a shiny Starly in the second area and saved, but it flew away, but I did the same thing you did by taking a chance and turning off the console and luckily it was there again for me to catch it.

I think the packs in those starter kits are intentionally stacked to not have super rare cards since it's more about learning to play with the prebuilt deck than customizing too much

The PM7 guarantee of shiny odds increase, while watching the VOD I was doing some hunting (and beforehand during a Mikey shiny montage) and I've gotten five shinies in Legends today, but before I was about to put my Switch into charge and go play MH Rise, I saw an Eevee outbreak and lo and behold do I hear the sound of shiny once I arrive there, now I shall finally have my shiny Umbreon!

I restarted my game and… while i was collecting Eevees for my fox army (dont question me, I consider Eevees foxes and Im a fox queen) DURING the tutorial part that I was able to explore the first whole area I can explore, I found my first shiny, a Starly. :D and i didnt talk to the professor until I caught 8 eevees for each eevee, so i caught the starly WITHOUT its pokedex filled

I could never do a full shiny living dex for PLA but im just trying to make every pokemon in the dex show up as the shiny on their photo thing (if u didnt know you can press the minus button thingy to make a pokemon show up as shiny and itll stay like that even if you close the booklet. But it goes away if u deselect so dont worry)

(hey! hey! i dont know if youve gotten the burmys yet or not, OR if this trick even still works but it may save time while being... on the line of legitimate. you go in a sub area after getting the right shiny burmy (female, since you can get mothins elsewhere) and you wait until the tree is reset and the same shiny burmy should be there)
