In this video i decided to record point play against 12.4 UTR. Here we will play 2 tiebreaks to 10 one where i serve the whole time and another where my opponent serves the whole time. This gives an opportunity to get into a rhythm of returning and provides a great point play practice.

It's the footwork that does it for me. So clean, so pleasing. Hard to believe that there are significantly-different levels above this.

Love the hitting! Thanks for uploading. He really got you on defense a lot with his forehand and serve - damn lefties! I also liked hearing you talking under your breath in frustration in Russian 😄 Maybe teach us some phrases in a video we can use to hide what we're saying from our opponents! 😉

Yeah Alex does very good job putting you in defense situation. I usually dont get mad and when i do, its only in practice and about as bad as just talking to myself a little bit haha

Alex really stepped up his serve through the tie breaker - as he warmed up he started pounding it heavier and bigger. Solid! Andrey - what is the one thing you'd like to be able to do better to reach the next level?
@andreysmirnov7461
@andreysmirnov7461 2 года назад
Alex actually have not played for like 2 weeks so he was a bit rusty and yeah he definitely stepped it up throughout the practice. As far as what i wanted to improve, its hard to pick one thing as i would love to improve everything. But i think becoming better in hitting while moving would be my next thing and developing better shot selection. Just becoming more dynamic overall

@@andreysmirnov7461 I'm excited to try them. They have a slightly thicker beam and softer stiffness.
@andreysmirnov7461
@andreysmirnov7461 3 года назад
The reason why i got the current version VCORE PRO is because i really liked the thin beam and the fact that its a little low for power. Now they added beam thickness and added flex which adds power. So i am curious how it plays but 2 reasons why i got the racket that i have are no longer there

Awesome playing! I am moving to Bellevue next year and wanted to ask if you knew of some good places to get lessons/play at? I currently take lessons at the USTA Orlando campus and been playing for about 4 months. Let me know if you have recommendations, I will be there by July 2022

Correct me if I'm wrong here but I noticed a few times, you would hit to your opponents backhand but the position of you is still on the left side of the court. From my knowledge, I thought it would be best to be on the right side if you hit these balls. For example, the backhand on 7-5, the forehand on 9-6, the forehand on 9-7. To be fair, a lot of these shots are fast and at best, you might have 1 or 2 steps to move before your opponent making contact but was curious if this is something you do intentional.
@andreysmirnov7461
@andreysmirnov7461 2 года назад
Interesting question! After i hit my shot i try to place myself to be able to cover 2 of the best shots that my opponent can theoretically hit which in this case is cross and line. A lot of people will tell you to stay in the middle of those 2 shots which would be like you said a little bit to the right, but i kind of disagree with that notion and i like to place myself closer to the better shot that my opponent can hit which in this case is the line. Alex has really good skill in switching direction so in this case i would be standing a little bit closer to down the line shot

The lefty's forehand technique is eerily similar to Mannarino's.

Both of you have gorgeous strokes. I wish American players would learn how to "free" their hitting arms like this.
@andreysmirnov7461
@andreysmirnov7461 2 года назад
I just need to make my strokes more dynamic and reduce unnecessary work with my legs at the same time making my movement "lighter". If i can learn those, i think that will help me get to higher level
