2024 Pokémon Orlando Regional Championships had one of the strangest fails I have seen in Pokemon. Also there's still tons of Pokemon VGC Cheating and proven cheaters being shown on the Pokemon VGC Livestream. Great.

Its not a few. Worlds 2022 second place said over 95%. Every top player and regional winner over the last few years has been caught through datamining or DQ

99% of non shiny Pokemon are hacked. As history has shown, full shiny team 99.99% cheated especially when used by someone who already gens

@@Verlisify yeah, if there's a history of genning it's likely. But a team of non-legendary shinies isn't evidence of cheating by itself if obtained in this gen since it's easy to get them with sandwiches IMO. Now, a team of full shinies where all the special attackers have 0 attack IVs or the trick room sweepers have 0 speed IVs is a lot more suspicious (for example). The fact that it's way easier to get shinies this gen makes cheating even less "excusable"... Yet the developers can't be let off the hook here, it should be easy to legitimately set IVs to 0 in-game (probably the big reason for hacking competitive mons this gen) and there should be better hack checks. In the meantime though cheaters should still be punished as defined by the rules, whether one likes them or not.

@@wat0n A team of all shiny non legendary Pokemon is literally the most proven consistent way to confirm cheating no matter the game. Making a regular competitive team takes enough time, then changing that team constantly for the meta or season progression, the odds of having all your competitive Pokemon you end up sticking with being shiny doesn't exist and there has been no known legit player perform at VGC with a full shiny team. Its aDrive's job to shiny hunt and he still hacked for leagues

@@Verlisify it depends on the meta, some pokemon are going to be good regardless (e.g. incineroar, rillaboom, etc). EV resetting isn't hard, it can be done without genning and I assume some players are more careful after what's happened since worlds.

I was in a discord that said this wasn’t funny, but it kinda is. I honest to god thought these were players who borked rather thn the company. If cheating weren’t such a big deal, rental switches wouldn’t be necessary in the first place.

TL:DR If it requires or uses illegally obtained data, it’s bad. If its use and development uses data available to players, it’s fair game. RNG manipulate a Shiny Wimpod? Bad. Use a camera and button masher to automate the shiny check of a Wimpod? Fair. Use a save modifier to get items? Bad. Use a turbo controller to farm the Academy Tournament for money for those items? Fine.

Ok with this I played this weekend went 1-4 drop. I caught bred and soft reseted for all of my legendaries (well besides flutter mane legitimately. I can say I was not happy with my result but I got a shiny tapu bulu in a Pokémon go raid. Oh well I may try again at NAIC.

To be more exact cheating in Pokemon is like taking Steroids i.e. they can recover faster. In the case of Pokemon they can test and iterate at faster pace than people playing legally. Plus they can hand craft mons that are near impossible to get via normal gameplay (0 iv attack and speed legendarys) for example.

I play VGC and don't cheat. ALL of my Pokemon were obtained IN GAME. I even bought a copy of Scarlet, played through the story again, just to get myself a legit Raging Bolt. (I started with Violet.)

@Leif3GHP I don't compete. I'm not a competitive player or person. I just like my pokemon journey to be casual. That being said, I enjoy American Football. If the playoffs were this much of a disaster, I'd be criticizing it too.

The tera thing was pretty funny, but interesting that you touched on the overall production as well - not only the VGC talent is overall garbage, but they're really adding these redditor-humor things like on-screen texts and break time segments... it's just awful, completely boring, uninteresting, really solidifying how dead this "competitive" game is.
