Acting like that matters. If anything the game will be so easy you won’t do either of those and if you do I’m sure there would be a way to battle the legendary again. The recent games aren’t as unforgiving as the older ones so auto save might just be better left on
Charmander is the only starter to make it out of every other singe starter from all the other games. And with the Legendary Pokémon, Mew is the only one staying, all the rest are cut from what I've seen.
The recent datamine says bulbasaur and squirtle as well as 33 other pokemon are being added as raid battles so the total amount of pokemon is going to be 435
Calling the current dex count a "strong lineup" really shows how little you know about Pokemon. Over half of the current pokemon aren't returning, despite being available on a handheld console with significantly less power, and of those that have been cut are tons of popular pokemon, including every single starter (except Charizard line), every single legendary (except paywall Mew), and a ton of other frequently used heavy hitters. For a game that's A. on a console as powerful as the Switch and B. the series' debut core game on a home console.
It's because all the OU shit in competitive. They want better competitive without people using the same ultra strong pokemon like every other pokemon game in existence.
King Keltic correct, in fact most competitive players ive heard from welcome the change, it forces you to make different teams and with no Z moves and no megas it’s definitely gonna be different, looking like weather wars are gonna be a standard for this gen early on
@@baconbaconbobacon Hell yeah you get it. That's why I'm excited most OP Pokemon are gone it's gonna make competitive fun again. I haven't done competitive since 4th gen so I'm excited to get back into it.
King Keltic great to hear your coming back and with a fresh new slate it wont be hard to catch up on, though even returning players are gonna have a while to learn what this meta is made of but it will be fun to see. There are definitely some cool stuff like the new item, room service for trick room and that galarian weezing is gonna be pretty fun to use as well.
King Keltic that is complete bullshit. You can balance ou and all that shit without cutting Pokémon. Just like in literally every single other game, you can ban certain stuff from being used competitively. Gamefreak would just have to put a certain “tag” on Pokémon that can’t be used in competitive and it’d achieve the same thing without butchering the dex
Just being as unbiased as I can be, realistically the number of people who are upset by national dex is significantly less than the number of people who don't use that feature at all. Even if 100% of the people who move pokemon between games were to not buy this game it would be a drop in the bucket of sales. Of course these people are also the most vocal so it can appear as though everyone is upset when it's just that one group.
@@metanightmare4454 im glad people with brains are in the comments. so many people are just passively accepting having over half the pokemon cut from a game. anyone uninformed about the roster amount should know this has NEVER been a thing.
They should just make a pokemon game where you can go to all the regions and get all the pokemon specific to those regions instead of making a newer region each time.
@@rawrespada4158 actually the box art legendaries and starters are Shiney locked, ik this might count as spoiler, but I thought I'd let you know so you don't reset three k times trying it
@Pokémon & FF fan no way have I heard anyone go: "hmm I sure hope we get a cooking simulator in pokemon, better yet, remove pokemon to make room for cooking!" I get thay they wanna make new experiences and all but thats not an equal sacrifice. At this point nothing in the game is. Personally, if there was like a battle frontier or 120ish new pokemon then I'd be like "I guess the effort went there".
ahem* 400 Pokémon is not a “big amount” of Pokémon. The last game had more than twice that amount. Always having shared experience is BAD because it makes the games easier and EV training harder Autosaving is not a good feature as reloading your save file is basically an integral part of shiny hunting, catching legendaries, playing Pokémon in general.
@@turtato2155 "you're not even gonna use all 400 Pokemon" is a dumb argument. Everyone has their favorites and them not being in the game will definitely be a disappointment. I know I'll be disappointed if Cyndaquil, Sandshrew, and Kabuto aren't in it's just ugh.
He clearly doesn’t play the games and understand why some of these things are not positives. Like only 400 Pokémon is a small amount and WON’T take long to complete. Perma exp share makes the game too easy as it has in the past.
Mustapha El Saytari no we just want all of them to be able to be transferred over, even if we can't do it until the story has been completed so the main story isn't steamrolled by over leveled Pokémon.
@PikaCinema small using previous standards of pokemon yo. Compare the game to previous entries is what you do. Haven't been this small since about gen 3.
My Scizor isn't in the game and I spent hours to breed a perfect 6IV Scizor. Oh well, time to try out different Pokemon for ranked. I might give a sandstorm Ttar and Excadrill team a go!
I don't get why, they brought back a lot of crap people don't really like but leave out fan favourites. I thought they would just cut out the rather crappy Pokemon, the voltorbs, the trubbish, vanillish etc. Bring back all the cool and fan favourite ones.
Preferably another company to be honest. They're just going to end up being half-baked games with lots of past content missing. I don't trust GF, not after what they did to the Battle Frontier.
They are referring to the fact that u can now switch their nature's and stuff to make em viable even if they had garbage stats/natures. But yeah, wtf is the use of "sentimental value" when they butchered potentially many players favorites.
and know english or japanese chinese or any of other leanguuge im from slovakia and sk languge will not be ther or czech only languge i kow read is english and write and speaking is hard for me
@Sakurai so yes the number did creep up over time as they put more emphasis on completing the national dex you need more and more copies of pokemon to complete the dex (explicitly speaking in terms of pokemon you can catch in the game not receive over trade or something like wondertrade)
@@oldfag_adventures No?? Platinum which was 11 years ago had like 210 in the regional dex + in the post game you could find even more, the whole dex was at like 493 and could get all of them by transferring, so a decade+ game has almost 100 more Pokemon coded in it than SwSh
You guys forget those older games used mainly flat graphics to animate Pokemon. This game is a lot more detailed so the comparison is unfair. 400 is a lot if they are better designed and rendered than ever before.
What other games on Switch have 400 unique monsters to catch? I seriously think people are overreacting about the dex cut. Those that have completed the national dex, sure, they’ve got a reason. But a lot of people just hate for hate’s sake. I even saw someone who never finished a Pokémon game angrily criticize the cut. It’s spreading like an epidemic, while in reality, only a small fraction of these people will actually bother to collect even those 400 mons.
See, The level of voice over work I was expecting was something a little less than BotW. Not the cutscene parts, just the grunts and the aww during regular talking points. Grunts and awws are universal, no matter the language.
I would find the grunts and aws kind of out of place if that was it. sometimes things are better if it's all the way or not at all. botw had a lot of dialogue in cutscenes
@@lerbyn I looked up rural city on Google, turns out it might just be an Australian thing. It's basically somewhere that's too big to really be called a town but not urbanized enough to be a full fledged city. So... culture difference I guess... and no idea what Falcon was thinking
Gag1800 I mean, the region itself is based on the UK with the first place having major inspirations from a pretty cool city Manchester which, when in visited, was basically old meets new
Frankly i don't feel like you were the one to do this video, i always like your videos but i feel like you were completely out of your element on this one.
@Games Cubes I don't, its just frustrating to watch someone be so pointlessly rude. I'm sure this isnt representative of who you are, and I hope whatever is troubling you gets better soon.
And don't dynamax or gigantimax any pokemon that can learn explosion or self destruct (voltorb and electrode) because they will wipe us all out if they use those moves in giant form
400 isn’t a lot. Sun and moon had like 800+. They literally wiped all legendaries and starters. All of my favorites like garchomp, suicuine, and darkrai are gone. I don’t even think it’s possible to add them later as dlc.
It is a great thing in terms of level design. Before they had to factor in for if people kept it on or off, often reducing levels to ensure people who dont have it on can have fun. I know it's a long video but try to check out the 7 hour oras analysis video someone made. It is a deep dive into the franchise as a whole and does a great job at explaining where the franchise currently is along with pointing out things like what I mentioned.
Sorry gamranx. I love ya"ll but I don't think think you thought some of these through. Xp makes sense when comparing to other jrpgs but in pokemin you only have one "party" member out at once. Where as in most other jrpgs you can have more than one out at once. Also, autosave is okay? Let me know how you feel about the autosave when you accidentally KO legendaries, try to reset, and oh guess what auto save happened after the KO.
Pretty sure they're also going to allow you to re-battle legendaries if you KO them at this point. There were already cases of that in Sun/Moon. Tapu Koko at the very least off the top of my head, which was great anyway if you didn't want to re-battle the Champion every attempt for shiny/nature/etc.
I'm going to have a blast with this game. Went and caught most of the Pokemon in the last couple games and I'm sure I will enjoy catching what's available here.
@PikaCinema so it's just 10 things you should know that's chronologically posted during a time that happens to be before you purchase the game? How is it not a before you buy then? Oh because it's half of one, this video is all fluff without the "oh yeah, *you only get 400 Pokemon*" smh
cheeseonyomama Apologists defending gamefreaks terrible decisions and lying to the fans about why they made the decisions they did. But gamefreak doesn’t look at us or the fans as fans or even people. They view us as money.
They said they don't intend to ever do a national dex again, so I guess our best bet is buy this used or not at all, if we want Gamefreak to reconsider that choice. :(
I agree but it ain't laziness, seems more like greed if you ask me. More Pokemon and better graphics equals less money due to more investment, but when your IP is one of the most profitable of all time, there's little excuse.
They will probably fix that with the time. If they don’t make that, the Japanese Community will make something. And I’m afraid that they are pretty extreme when it come to games... And I am happy, cause I love the game and want GF to go fuck himself and lose a lot of money to learn what they have!
Their voice no voice acting excuse is “there’s so much text it’ll be hard”. ... fire emblem?? Literally every single bit of text is voiced. This sounds to me like they’re just lazy. Also the “painting a picture of the character” is bullshit. If the character has a design and stuff they say, they have a distinct personality. So no, their arguments don’t make any sense and they r just lazy.
@@aldinp6341 I'm not talking about the voice acting. I'm talking about the fact they cut a lot of Pokemon and the graphics could be a little better. I most likely will buy it still but they could have done a little better.
Lmao I respect Falcon on every game, but now I'm starting to doubt him, it's like he doesn't know anything about the pokemon game so why did they had to make a video, I didn't see he make a video about Aterlier Ryza.
So you can save before an important encounter or battle and soft reset if you don’t like the result without being concerned the game will save a result you didn’t want
removing options is never a good thing. The EXP share was given to you and automatically on anyway so the only thing this really changes is that players that don't want to use it can no longer do that. Recent interview with GF state that if players want to train only 1 pokemon then they should just remove all other party members to do so.....
Reason for no autosave when you waste all your pokeballs etc. While trying to catch a legendary and not wanting to waste the masterball on the games regular legendary.
@@kingkeltic4228 I am relaxed. He just said there was no positive but I'm sure we all remember at least one time like that. Autosave is a great feature especially if you've been playing for hours but unfortunately forgot to save.
@@estebanmartia8698 it doesn't autosave constantly. it's when you're changing maps/going in and out of buildings/etc, so if you are in middle of a battle and run out of pokeballs you can just turn off your game and turn it back on and you'll be at the battle again (if you saved in front of the battle). so you can have auto save on and still be able to save before legendaries like before.
Imagine running into a shiny Pokémon in the wild area, but you can’t catch it at all because you need the next badge lol. Those new catch restrictions are so dumb.
J.I.N. The new restrictions save this game. Imagine walking into the Wild area and throwing a lucky pokeball and then you’ve got yourself a lvl 55 machoke.
Kylonal _ Who needs a level 60 Hydreigon when you can have a level 60 starter by your first badge lol. The amount of exp the wild area throws at you is insane. I admit it’s awesome for leveling competitive Pokémon, but if that’s possible, then why restrict catching?
I was super excited, I had even got passed the fact that some old pokemon were going to be cut. Then I learned bulbasaur and squirtle were both cut while gamefreek gave charizard another form. The only reason I could think gamefreek cut them is for balancing against the champions charizard. He is going to used the charizard in Godzilla mode and squirtle would make the fight too easy and bulbasaur too hard. Its bullshit.
@@kevincarter1919 Developments? Animations are glitchy, graphics are horrible and they included less than half of the total Pokémon in the Dex (the ONLY starter from all the other regions that isn't Galar is Charmander, for example). Gamefreak is lazy AF.
8:07 The mints are new, and access to the box away from the PC too, but the vitamins, the stat-hexa-grid, exp gain from Rare candies, have been around. Egg-moves between the same species, also, breed an Eevee with something to get egg moves, then that Eevee can pass those egg moves down regardless of the partner. As long as one of the two have an Egg-move the mother can pass down, it will pass down.
Sucks how i wanted to get this game. But not all of the pokemon are gonna be included. My fav isn't gonna in it. So i wont be picking the game up at all.
But I don't get it? Don't you need pokemon home to get your old homies in? You would have to wait a couple of months regardless of if they were coded into the game or not. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of bringing over old mons?
What? The only difference are some species of pokemon, a few gym leaders etc. for each game. Its always been this way...You can search it up yourself to see which ones
@@NailujG And I would have liked to know the particulars of this info, so they should have been included in this video. Like you said, the games always have 2 versions and fans always wants to know the difference between them.
My favorite hypocritical thing i heard about this game is from both the Pokemon cut and forced exp share- Sheeple: "Well with not as many old Pokemon you have more chances to play with the newer ones!" Same sheeple: "Alright, forced experience share off the bat, now I don't have to swap out my main pokemon anymore!" T_T
1: Graphically speaking, it is one of the weakest if not THE weakest 60 dollar game on the Switch. 2: It has visual glitches galore, such as terrible pop-ins, sudden frame-drops and glitching or even missing shadows. 3: Several of the features it is proudest of have been done many times, more often than not better, for many years. These features are very limitted in this game, even then. 4: Like before, you don't actually change the story, so it is a true JRPG where you experience the story told to you. You only change your looks and team composition. This is the least grievous part about this game, since it's up to standards. 5: The new feature "Dynamaxing" and "Gigantamaxing" does not feel like something additive to the game when you consider Mega-Evolution was dropped for it. 6: It does, indeed, not have voice acting. Even in the old Zelda way with some nonsense words suited to the emotion so make re-recording the lines in different languages unneeded. 7: The game has been made significantly easier by allowing you to use drugs to alter your pokémon's personality. Some of these changes are good timesavers. Some of these are bad as they are not optional, such as the EXP Share. Some you can fake, like a party limit. Some you can't, again, like the EXP Share. 8: The character customization is featured so prominently because it had been absent from the series for years, and even when it came out it wasn't as well develloped as several other games on the same system...years before. It is better than all of their previous attempts. It is NOT better or equally good as most games with character customisation on the Switch today. 9: Game Freak tried to make the game seem bigger by adding the story that the region has 18 gyms, but you can only fight the 8 THEY specified for you. But there really are 18, more than twice as many. You just don't encounter them or see them or fight them. Basically, it's invissible, unprogramed, unplayable extra content and you should feel grateful to experience such a big and varried world. 10: It has the smallest available pool of pokemon at 400, where even Diamond and Pearl had 493. Of course, several of those you had to transfer from other games but you could then breed or use them however you wanted.
@@naturestonesmusic592 It's an everyone game here. Kids and adults cherish the Pokemon titles, and there's a far larger audience for it than just kids. Blowing it off by saying it's a kids game, especially after making a really dumb insinuation about someone is just asinine. I was actually going to buy the damn thing, but because of everything he talked about, I no longer am. I'll spend my money elsewhere, thank you very much.
@Mustapha El Saytari you are telling me not to be a little kid after making a very accurate joke. Why do you feel the need to attack and insult people because they don't suck Pokemon's pole like you? Only one that sounds like a little child here is you my friend. Adults move along when someone says something they don't like. Children get butthurt and lash out. I'm Just Saying!
I’m definitely disappointed I can’t move my favorites into this game. I’m gonna miss them. Personally, I’m really hyped for this game besides that, but I definitely agree with you that the fact you can’t move some Pokémon into this game definitely sucks.
This game will be the first time I put my foot into the realm of Nintendo Switch. I haven't played my 3DS for years now and after being on PS4 as my primary gaming device, it's nice to go back and play some Nintendo games again.
John Smith thats me. I need a really good game(or group of games) to give me a good reason to keep playing my hand held console while i have a powerful console(PS4)
elite power Of course not every Pokémon is available to catch in one game. That isn’t the point. You have always been able to transfer over all Pokémon into one game though until now.
I’m not sure about using the regular joycons for the game but I don’t have the money to buy a controller pro. Do you think using the joycon controls will be okay? I know it’s nothing like the 3DS.
I’ve never played Pokémon before besides Pokémon Go, would this be a good one to start, since I know absolutely nothing? And what’s the difference between the two games?
I don't like many of the new features and leaks of glitches are starting to leak, I'm not gonna go over the whole anthem situation all over again, I'll wait until the game is fully reviewed
