Pokemon Sword/Shield (Nintendo Switch) is filled with new things to learn, as well as some nuances that only hardcore fans will know going in. Here are some things we think you should know. Subscribe for more: / gameranxtv
Okay, milcery evolving from spinning is so cute. It's cream, when you spinn/whip cream it gets fluffy and turns into whipped cream. Which is basically it's Evo.
To me it makes sense and is a nice little detail. If your baking something you clearly got mix the ingredients. How do you mimic that with movements? Ya spin. But still it's nice that there seems to be some more experimental evolutions that aren't "Give your this Pokemon this one item to evolve it" cause it adds a little more charm into what may of otherwise been another within 812+ Pokemon.
A small thing I thought was adorable: When you play with and cook for your Pokémon, you'll get more exp and your Pokémon will get closer to you. This said, when you get to a certain point in battle, and the opponent gets a crit or something of the sort, and KO's your Pokémon, sometimes it'll stop at 1. After, a heart will float out from them and text will pop up reading "[Pokémon name] hung in there so you wouldn't feel sad." Which saved my skin because I'm doing a blind nuzlocke and he was my MVP
I wanted to cry because that happened to me and my Cinderace and Excadrill, I didn't know how that happened but I was so happy and it was so wholesome-
I am very much so aware that this is a year late but I checked Sobble's and Drizzile's moveset and they only learn U-turn at lvl 24 for Sobble and lvl 30 for Drizzile which is a bit of over lvling and Scorbunnys entire evolution line can learn U-turn tho from Tm
I know its very easy to lvl up your pokemon. Im saying that if you want to use Sobble/Drizzile against the 1st gym leader, you have to over lvl and if your lvling your pokemon almost 10 lvls higher than the opponents then I dont think you need to worry about getting a super effective hit.
I would argue that some of the Megas were a mistake. Stuff like Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Rayquaza snapping the game and even competitive play in half is clearly a design flaw. I still prefer Megas as a design philosophy, but hopefully, Dynamaxing will keep things more balanced.
Nicolas Warren Dynamaxing is very useless. There are many fights where normal pokemon do the same damage of a dynamax pokemon. I’d rather have them balance Megas and Z-Moves rather than introduce bs that no one will use.
@@3ftninja132 it wasn't unspoken, during the e3 trailers, they said zacian's name multiple times. it's also pretty easy to google the pronunciation lmao
Except the super hardcores that could literally only use like Mega Kangaskahn and/or Mega Rayquaza, and the Primals (Groudon and Kyogre) Like there was like 3 or maybe 4 more pretty good megas. But Mega Kangaskahn was broken. They needed to nerf Mega Kangaskahn, and buff some others, and ofc add new ones. Giantmax or whatever the stupid shit is, is stupid.
2:48 actually the game does tell you this, when you are walking on route 5 you'll see one of those red information boards, it tells you that auras around pokemon are better. So if you didn't know that then it's kinda on you for not reading the information boards
@SnowPea just so you know, some people don't pay attention to those so don't go around making others feel like crap for not reading those or seeing where the board is.
Why is the title called "10 things that the game doesn't tell you" when these are things that you find out as you play the game not any secret things that you cant find out by yourself.
I guess because you can keep playing that, thus it adds to the content. If you've done everything you could do in a pokemon game, you'll buy the next one faster.
I don't remember if it was Masuda or Ohmori (probably Masuda), but he said that they don't make the Battle Frontier anymore because children nowadays have smartphones with access to a lot of games and won't dedicate much of their time to Pokémon, yadda yadda, basically: "If only a minority of people will use X feature, it's not worth including it".
I adored the battle frontier in pokemon emerald, and was really looking forward to seeing it in pokemon alpha sapphire and omega ruby. Only to find that when I got there, it was mostly un-built, with the tired battle tower we have had in every single game in the past. I really liked the unique battle rules pokemon emerald's battle frontier had, and would love for it to make a come-back.
I wish there was more exploration in the region. There was always extra towns and routes to explore and more trainers to battle in the older games. Well they took out the national dex, but how come the game makes me follow a straight path?
What I hated the most was when anything interesting started happening, Leon or someone would just be like, "keep completing those gym challenges and don't worry about this," then at the end we have to clean up a mess we weren't even involved in pretty much. Like I was told to beat it noob and now I'm expected to save them all lol
@@MeanyBooters hey at least these have been the only bunch of adults who tried to do something rather than the other adults in prev games expecting children to save the world
I thought I was the only one. Personally I enjoyed the gyms (even though they were easy) but the story in between was so short and linear. I wish we could explore more but I love open world games so maybe that's just me. Minus the Wild areas there wasn't much to explore. Not really side quests either.
Actually, if you're willing to do a bit of grinding, Drizzile - Sobble's evolution - learns the bug-type move U-turn at level 30. So you'd be okay for the first gym if you did a bit of leveling.
Few missed things about brilliant pokèmon: •Brilliant pokèmon give you watts when they're defeated (usually about 200-300). •The chances of getting them is increased with encounters, not captures. •Brilliant pokèmon actually hsve a higher chance of being a shiny because they roll for it several times. This also increases after a few encounters
Missed something with remembering moves. The moves you can remember aren't just ones that you replaced or skipped over. They are every move that your pokemon could have ever learned up to that point. So it doesn't matter what level you get your Eevee to evolve at, you won't miss any possible moves.
Do you mind clarifying that? Is it the combination of battling and catching or is it just battling? I've been trying to do as much spoiler free research as I can....
@@crystaljewel8906 It's just battling. Gamefreak released information about how Shiny hunting works and how to get Brilliant Pokemon. The only thing you need to know is that the charts for the shiny chances for battling pokemon are always constant (no combos that increase shinies exist). The other thing to note is that if you chain the shiny that you're looking for, the Pokemon will end up appearing more.
Iirc a guy in another video explained that it is 500 battles with a single species (which dont have to be after one another) listed in the pokedex as fought and then a catch combo where you catch 25+ Pokemon of that species in a row for the highest chances of getting a shiny. Combined with the shiny charm that would be the highest odds. So basically you cant go for random shinies that way anymore but instead have to farm one species at a time. Edit: you still can go for random shinies with enough luck I guess.
Honestly, your video is awesome! I have been playing pokemon Sword addictively on my Nintendo switch and i have never played pokemon apart from dabbling in pokemon Go at one point and I figured, "this probably makes sense to people who have played the previous versions" lol! Thank you for this video! Everything now makes sense
Depending on the moves sets you pick for the fire type you can beat every gym leader except for the water and dragon with just the right moves. I recommend one normal, 2 fire, and one fighting move to increase your chances of beating your opponents in the gyms.
It's a bit flawed saying that in order to increase the chance on finding Brilliant Pokemon, you need to keep catching them. You don't. You just have to keep battling them. The more battle encounters you have with a certain species of Pokemon, the higher the chance of encountering Brilliant versions.
I have two fun facts I found on accident. 1: There is, for some reason, an animation of throwing a pokeball at a trainer’s Pokémon. (Thanks drift) 2: In Galar mine No. 2, if you whistle in the stunfisk areas (pressing the left joystick), they will pop out like a bear trap, letting you know if that’s a Pokéball, or an fake one on a stunfisk
Yeah this was just an untrue comment on his part. Brock was the first gym leader regardless of which Pokémon you started with. I remember how much of a breeze it was with my Squirtle
I have loved this game so far. It's been a ton of fun. I was able to do a raid with a friend, trade a couple pokemon, and just enjoy seeing it on the big screen so our son could watch, and play along too. It's so much fun to react so excitedly when he catches anything... like... his 8th wingull... but to still react like he caught a shiny Mewtwo has been great! It's really instilling an enjoyment of the game for him as well, I hope we can always share.
*Did you guys know that if you press the right side joystick like how you would press one of the buttons you can expand your view of the wild area as you move and if you press the left side joystick like how you would press one of the buttons you can whistle to call a wild and a flying overhead head pokemon to get their attention and run towards you to encounter over-world pokemon easier than just chasing them?*
Being able to learn old moves from pokemon you caught at a high level is the best thing they've added to pokemon outside of the wild area which is basically a safari zone that levels with you
Haven't finished the video yet, but Scorbunny is great for a first run pretty much all the way through, not just the first gym: About half of the gyms consist of types weak to fire. The only two the evolution line may struggle against are the ground and water type gyms. However, most Pokemon in the ground gym are weak to fire, but Scorbunny's evolution line is weak to majority of the moves used in that gym, so a double-edge sword essentially. That, and it learns a handful of fighting type moves which do well mixed with fire type, in my experience. Just thought I'd throw this out there.
6:18 when you said Zackian I about died oh my gosh. Zacian (Zā-she-un) I guess it’s fine if you want to say it weird, but that’s the official pronunciation, so now you know 👍🏻
There have been multiple official pronunciation for multiple pokemon from multiple generation. Now, gaze at the official anime, and weep, as they screw up the official pronunciation!
That’s okay. For the Ponyta you can get it via the surprise trade. I got mine like that. I even got the three starters like that. For the gym leader that’s bad luck but don’t worry about Ponyta 😉
@- FrogGurl - dude i posted the comment a year ago 😭😭 its not my favorite, i dont like how fast the main story is, and i dont like that it was so much more expensive for less content, but i still think other people can enjoy it
Charizard (Gold) > Copperajah (Silver) > Milcery (Bronze) > Wobbuffet > Koffing. I've only made the Wobbuffet class curry when alone and seem to always make the Milcery whenever I'm at another trainer's camp. Not sure if I need to add more berries or what.
Move Reminder can also unlock certain moves that are usually referred to as hidden starting moves because they don't learn them without help such as Piloswine needs needs help getting Ancient Power before you get Mamoswine (Ancient Power isn't earned through levels) But in the past games it wasn't easy getting items to pay those reminder persons and even worse trying to find them. They weren't in Pokemon Centers before Gen 8 Brilliant aura also grants higher experience and free watts if you defeat them.
Gba games where the most balanced between battles and non cramp inducing non-battle content i love HG as nr next kid that had GoldN but some of that stuff is just flat out party game spinn off material...
@@cdixon198 try using 'myboy' emulator app from google Play Store. I use it and works great and is stable. I didn't had any issues playing any GBA game on it. Works smooth.
Aside from the night and day cycle introduced in Gold and Silver I hope they also add a mechanic where the game would match the weather where you're from.
tbh that would be pretty cool, but it would make getting weather exclusive wild area pokemon a pain. instead of just changing your date to lock the weather, you'd probably have to wait for a while. and imagine trying to get pokemon that only can be found during snowstorms in a really hot place...
@@c_alam1ty here in Canada, we would get both. Only need to wait a couple of months. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. IT NEVER ACTUALLY STAYS ONE SEASON THE WHOLE TIME. So, every week we would get different climates.
So far I like the new experiences like the Dynamax-Battles, the wild area or the new Pokémon. What I personally not dig is the fact that you have to pay for a membership to use the online service like Online-Trading. In previous games I could easily trade online for free to get Pokémon which I can´t get otherwise because I can´t find people to trade localy.
Bro I was searching for eevees and the frat one popped up had brilliant aura I was confused but I’m glad I caught it anyways cause it’s a tank on my team now
@@paleoleft from what the Nintendo article said the combo is for fishing only and effects your chances of getting a brilliant pokemon. So yeah it does still matter technically... but not for shines or non fishable pokemon so it doesn't have as much use as people thought it did
WittyPractitioner no it still counts, not encounter combo but every 100 you deafeat the higher the chance, and if your catch 25 in a row your chance gets skyrocketed.
Dataminers have found that the Kanto and Alola Starters as well as most box legendaries and mythicals are in the game, most likely to be released as event specific pokemon later.
as a person that has only played the fire red-BDSP poke games now trying to under stand this box of noodles,,,giga max ? raids? so much to learn lol better then the 10 min I had on lets go pika tho
The Move tutor also has something most probably dont know, if a pokemon learns a move from a TR and forgets it, they can relearn it at any time from the move reminder guy as if they naturally learned it from level up
I love the new games sm but am kinda sad they didn’t add in giratina or darkrai (favs) I just hope maybe they’ll update it and make it so you can transfer over more pokemon from older gens (or at least all legendaries cause that’d be hella cool)
My experience in the game is that you DO NOT HAVE TO beat the game in order to get Charmander. You can find him in a raid den, Look up some videos on it, I have 2 Charmanders that I didn't beat the game or trade for, just using the raid dens
Is it weird I hope this game bombs so they can take extra care with the next game and bring back National dex, mega evolution, battle frontier and Pokemon followers with multiple regions and capability to catch every Pokemon? All they need is a budget from after the 90s and a bigger team, which we know they can afford. A decent production time couldn't hurt either. Wishful thinking I know.
Idk. I'm havin a great time. Also I really dont want megas back. It was neat for a bit but just got so obnoxious after a while. At least dynamaxing doesn't happen in EVERY battle in the game. And I'm fine with not having all pokemon. Sure some pokemon i liked got cut, but I'll take quality over quantity. Also fuck having to balance 800+ pokemon. I think Gamefreak has done pretty damn well with their first try on the Switch.
Thank you for telling me about the brilliant Pokémon, cuz I didn’t catch a brilliant Pokémon and I saw like 27 of them and didn’t bother to catch one =(
David Evans yeah, he was just saying the shiny percentage goes up with those Pokemon being caught as well. So the most efficient way is combo catching the same type of Pokemon.
What are you smoking fam, the only fighting/fire was in gen 3, gen 4 and gen 5. Gen 7 starter is a wrestler not an fighter and gen 8 starter is a football player. Get your facts right.
