I don't know....a chipper smiling Brad raising all in is almost more intimidating. You expect the bluff from the shades wearing hood up guy. A smiling polite friendly young man, you almost wonder if he is all there.

I really like the fold with 10s. I see so many people call in that spot, where the bluff is so unlikely. Many people have a real problem throwing away pairs when the board is all under-cards. Even if you friend was bluffing (which I doubt), there are not very many river cards that would make you feel all warm inside.
@BradOwenPoker

Thanks man. It was a strange spot. I didn't feel like I was in a very good position to win it.

hahaaa..I should say I really improved my game watching you/andrew. I have a simple question Brad can you explain why pro's and most players buy for max limit always? if the max limit is 1500 they buy for 1500 and immediately reload if they loose any of it. It is just to extract most money when they hit premium hands or any logic behind this ??
@BradOwenPoker
@BradOwenPoker 7 лет назад
Yeah definitely. We feel we have a competitive advantage and want to be able to maximize value. The edge pros have is diminished as stacks get smaller.

Thanks Rick, definitely a hassle but it's ok. Things are good in life overall. I'm not sure if I'll do a recap again or not in the future. I kind of just wanted to do it once and get it out of the way. I certainly don't want to be doing that kind of thing all the time for several reasons. I may share how I did last WSOP when I played 200 hours and got smoked.

b-rad it's jaaaboyyy from Kuwait, i was excited to hear you had a new video up, the video resolution is still bad but i could still see you getting nothing but pocket pairs lol im no pro or expert but i think you should include some risk in your play, you play safe which is fine but sometimes you have to go hard in the paint and make that money, i know you booked a win but booking a win with great play and earnings must be a better feeling, please continue to post videos, i have about 3 other soldiers excited to see your videos now lol, good luck man ♠️♦️♣️♥️🃏
@BradOwenPoker
@BradOwenPoker 7 лет назад
Hahaha I hope to meet you someday man. Thanks for getting your boys to watch the videos too. Do you guys watch the movie Three Kings all the time out there?... lol. I agree with you about going hard in the paint, BUT... it's important for me not to force anything either. This session I got a lot of really strong hands and a lot of really bad ones, not too many in between. It makes for simpler decisions but not always the most interesting video. A few times I've tried to force it just for the sake of making an interesting video and generally that's when I lose the most (see Ep 11 - Trigger Happy At The Rock). I want to do some creative things here and there but it's my main source of income so I have to just take what they give me.
@sonnybravo6401
@sonnybravo6401 7 лет назад
Brad, love the vlog! I know you've been talking about starting a chat board. I have a good first subject and story to start the board. Two weeks in a row last Saturday and this past Saturday, I played in a deep stack tournament. About 3/4 of the way through the tourni with about 30 players left. I get dealt pocket 6's and raised pre flop. Both times pocket 6's both times raised preflop! I flopped at set of 6's both times. Bet out and got called both times. Both times I lost set over set on the flop. Hard to believe but it's true. I lost to a set of 10's and a set of aces. So here's the discussion question. How do you get off a set without going broke? I could take you step by step of each hand. Basically, I raised pre and got a call, flop a set, bet out and get raised. On the turn again I bet out and get raised and I push. Game over! Sucks both times.........I can't believe both times was with a set of 6's. I guess I shouldn't play the anti Chris number again. What do you or someone on the board think?
@BradOwenPoker
@BradOwenPoker 7 лет назад
Thanks a lot for sharing. When you get set over set you're just going to go broke. There's not much you can do - especially in a tournament. There are going to be too many other hands your opponents might have that they're willing to get it in against you with, like two pairs, overpairs, draws, and sometimes top pair. If you're folding to or avoiding all in bets with bottom or middle set (except under extreeeeeemely rare occasions) you're going to be losing tons of value. I hope you start running better. Also, in tournaments depending on the blinds and your chip stack you can fold a lot of small to medium pairs, particularly in early position. This will cut down on the set over set occurrences, which you shouldn't worry about too much, but also it'll keep you from being in difficult situations like when you don't make a set.
@sonnybravo6401
@sonnybravo6401 7 лет назад
thanks for the reply! I know my circumstance I describe is extreeeemely rare! I try to raise preflop with any pocket pair, as to not be to predictable and to isolate and weed out those limping. I play for set value like most players. I will c bet depending on the villain and the board. It all depends on timing and circumstances. I just can't believe I got beat set over set two weeks in a row on the flop. Like they say, that's poker. Happy Memorial Day!

I really have to compliment your vlogs, they are fun to watch. Just some advice from a fellow 5/10 and 10/20 grinder, your bet sizing needs a little bit of work... you size too small every once in a while. And you should not always see the nuts with your opponents. A little bit of increased aggression would probably be a good addition to your game. Wish you the best of luck at the tables and maybe I´ll see you around during wsop. Greetings from Germany

I think folding the TT hand on the turn is a bit nitty. I don't think you should show your cards unless you have to. (what's the point of showing your quads?) In the first hand because you're new at the table you want to create a tight image. Don't worry about it, your entire session creates that 'image'. Happy hunting.

That's a good question. Perhaps soon. It's been fun to video at different places though.

Hey Brad, I noticed that you do not really play 2/5 much anymore, is there a reason behind this? I feel like you should make a video about the different stakes and your experience of what kind of players you seen and how wild the ranges are and what stake you play most and find most profitable and why...? just a question and suggestion, after all, these are the comments ;)

don't open only 3x when the table seems to be loose enough to call a bigger preflop raise like 4x or maybe 5x.
@BradOwenPoker
@BradOwenPoker 7 лет назад
I started out with 3x then bumped it up a few times and everyone folded so I went back down to 3x and stayed there.

Great vlogs Brad. FYI I used to work for Adobe and still have many friends that do. Let me know if you need a hookup on Premiere Pro (or Premiere Elements) for video editing.

Enjoyed the vlog as always. Love your humor brother, you crack me up. I know you put a lot of time in to editing and I wanted to ask just how much recorded content you have to go through to get a 15 to 20 min video?
@BradOwenPoker
@BradOwenPoker 7 лет назад
That's a good question. It's usually around 1.5 hrs of footage or 2 hrs. It just depends. If I go on trips then it's usually a lot more because I film all kinds of stuff that I never end up using and sometimes I'll keep the camera on for a half hour to film a time lapse.

Thanks for the quick answer. I find what you and Neeme do to be fascinating. The extra work involved takes a lot of dedication. As long as you upload, I'll watch.

Posting a hand forgive me.... pocket jacks in the lojack and raise to 15 in a 1-3 game... straddled pot the button and small blind call. Flop comes 6-8-10 rainbow. I continue for 40 and the button smooth calls and small blind folds. Turn is checked with a 7 of hearts. River is a king of hearts. I check the button bets 55. I tank thinking he is repping a straight or a ten or a flush. Only two hands that make sense are 10-9 and king ten. I do find a fold but he is repping multiple holdings it was a very close fold for me....thoughts???

Probably a good fold. I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. Better luck in the future for you.

Hey Brad, I was wondering when you wear sunglasses at the poker table, can't your opponents see your cards through the shades?
@unvmee2
@unvmee2 7 лет назад
Quads or better doesnt happen often, so my question to you: What do you do with a quad or better hand on the flop if you are first to bet, and it's heads up? If the other player has been betting, do you lead out on the river or do you try to check raise the river? I know it depends on the player, of course, but in general, what are your thoughts.
@BradOwenPoker
@BradOwenPoker 7 лет назад
Like you said, lots of variables. It's tough because you want to create a big pot and get maximum value and it's hard to do that by checking and not putting money in the pot. Typically your opponent won't have much since you have everything so when you check it's going to get checked back frequently. I still think you have to check first most of the time when out of position. If your opponent has bet two streets and it's now your turn to act on the river I'd check again. Since we have quads, he usually can't have much/is bluffing pretty often. We want to give him an opportunity to bluff again on the river. So many things to consider though, it's hard to give a blanket answer on that.
@unvmee2
@unvmee2 7 лет назад
I know it's hard to give a blanket answer, but I appreciate your thoughts. I know you had quads in this video (not on the flop), and you bet it when it hit the turn. I would have done the same thing. No one is expecting you to have a 2, so I thought it was the proper move even though the other player folded.

What events are you planning on playing in the WSOP? I'm driving up from AZ this weekend, planning on playing the $400 Venetian deepstack. Hope I get to meet you while I'm there!
@BradOwenPoker
@BradOwenPoker 7 лет назад
Very cool! Perhaps I will see you around. I'm not really sure about which events I'll be playing yet. I'm being sponsored and doing a giveaway for the Colossus so that should be fun. It'd be great to get sponsored for some other events. I'm not really sure if that'll happen or not though. I really like the Monster Stack and Millionaire Maker events. I've played those the last few years. I'm gone for a week in June and haven't looked at the schedule lately to know when those are. It should be a lot of fun this summer. Good luck in the Venetian DS!

Thank you for making the leap and commenting lol! I'll be playing the Colossus. That'd be great if we both make a run in it. I'm not sure which flight(s) I'll be playing but probably one of the first ones to see if I want to keep firing. Good luck to you too man!
