I’ve been an armor modeler for 40+ years and since watching your videos you convinced me to delve out of my comfort zone and move on to car & truck models . Keep up the good work!
Great job Chris and congrats on the 52 builds this year. Building that many kits, while filming, editing and uploading each one is something to really be proud of.
My main genre has been aircraft. Finished a '32 roadster I have been working on for 3 years and really enjoyed it. Watching your videos is sparking the car builder in me!
Great review Chris! The wife and I are sitting here watching and now we have to get one! Oh my it is pretty cool. Well done as usual...Thanks for sharing...
Hey mate, I bought this same kit to try out as a beginner. Your video really helped me with the build. It didn't turn out as mint as yours 😉, but I'll get there. Only issue I had was with the decals, they kept tearing apart 🤬.. Thanks for the video, Cheers.
I don't think it's about wanting to do a snap tight. If you want a Pacific car for your collection and that's what it is then you have to build it or go without. Why not though? A nice easy build once in a while does the mojo good.
I bought one maybe a month ago to make into a post apocalyptic hearse. Just got a Lionel cow catcher to put on the front. Needs a lot more but I'm liking where it's headed.
Me and my dad found his that he got back in 2003 and now I have it in my room I need to paint it though since my dad only put the stickers and put together the ecto 1
GREAT job on this model!!! Very detailed!!! Can I ask why you black washed the wheels? All reference photos I see don't have the Cadillac hubs blackwashed
I never thought much of the PL Ecto when compared to the AMT, always thought the AMT had sharper detail. But man, you built up the PL great! It looks like the waterslides may be more extensive than they were previously. If Round 2 is smart, they'll eventually come out with a new-tool Ecto with full detail, opening doors, engine, and especially clear head and tail lights!
Can you do a demo on tints from Tamiya (airbrush?) and Testors tint also. Thanks! Working on this as of June 2020. Also working on the Greased Lightning 48' Ford Convertible.
Thx, Chris. Another wonderful build. You know what they say, "Less filling, Tastes Great." That's what I see time after time. Wonderful actually. And ALL this from a snap kit. Really impressive. Didja air brush that smoke or brush paint? Won't just painting the inside glass flat blk work just as well? Another gr8 job, Buddy. Really enjoyed it. I'd buy one of those. Thx again. God Bless, take care, be safe, n have fun. Tom out.
Thanks Tom! I hand brushed the Tamiya Smoke. Yes, you could do flat black but I wanted more of the tint look and in person it looks like deep tint but you can see through it a tiny bit. On camera it just looks black.
*I just finished this one. This snap kit was not a Snap to put together! A lot of the snap parts are really tiny. Along with the really tiny decals! The two antennae snapped off trying to get that part in. I had to replace them with metal rod. ***
Excellent work! I never really noticed the windows were heavily tinted except for a narrow strip left clear, looked at a number of photos online of the restored vehicle and the massive 1/6 scale Blitzway model and they all have that feature. Why did they do that, was there something in the car not meant to be seen?
I just got my first two issues from the Hero Collector's 1:8 Ecto-1!! I look forward to 2 years of dealing with Eaglemoss along with the Delorean! Eaglemoss is more than frustrating to deal with! LOL
I've always loved '59 Caddies! I have a Franklin Mint '59 Eldorado Biarritz that's made of metal. It must weigh a couple of pounds! It's so big, I haven't found a model car case big enough to fit it! I'll have to get and Ecto 1 for myself!
another beautiful build, i did some extra bodywork and did mine as a plain jane retired ambulance in light metallic blue, always wanted to do a real one like that,
you might know as you build so many of these kits, who released this kit as an actual ambulance before it was the ghost busters car, it is a miller meteor ambulance, i just wondered if the gurney and accesories might be found
great video! I just got given this kit - going to use this as a guide. (New to modeling.) noob question: do you scrape out the door trim seams after painting, but before the gloss layer?
I don't scrape them out after paint, too easy to make a mistake. I rarely have to do it but if they are super shallow I'll scribe them deeper before I start building.
Hey, yoy said " i rubbed tge windshield with future "... i have dipped parts but never heard if rubbed them. If you have time, in your next build could yoy show this technique (or discuss whats involved(. Thanks.
Love this build! Unrelated question- I saw one of your videos that showed a specific glue you use for prepainted kits that dries clear similar to superglue but I didn't catch the name. Trying my first model as snaptite batmobile dont want to mess up body paint with bad glue! Also is your tamiya clear paints acrylic or enamel? Please advise!
Hmm, you'll have to be more specific, I'm not aware of what I might have shown before. I use all types of adhesives for different projects. The tamiya paints are all acrylics that I use.
It's pretty much the same as the Ecto from the original but with some rust. Unfortunately, this model is no longer produced. Round2 lost the Ghostbusters license.
@@terrybaptist795 Then I'll be looking forward to seeing your build of that kit and you adding the sliding door and all the changes when you post it on the hpiguys Workshop Facebook page. Can't wait to see your work!
@@hpiguy Thats going to be a while im still working on the ghostbusters Ecto 1 from the first ghostbusters movie as right now and its not going be a curbside.
Hi Shawn! I'm flattered that you would like to hire me on a commission build. At this time I do not build for private customers but if I should ever get some time to do so we can discuss the project then. Thanks for watching!
