Hi there, Cool video, I picked up a 22 XCR this spring in the same color with red components all over, love it. It came with the glove box liner. I didn’t realize this problem existed, since I haven’t ridden yet. Good to know and I’ll make the adjustments as per your suggestions. I just subscribed to your channel. Thanks, I’m SO Excited to ride this winter. I’m 8 miles from Canada right at the trail head. Sounds like your from Canada or Minnesota with the way you said “about”. Thanks! Enjoy!
I'm sure this will reduce the amount of hot air getting in from the engine bay, but when you are moving, that air isn't warm anyway. It's cold and carrying snow with it into the box. Most comments I've seen about heat is that the box is not as hot as most would like. With any luck we may find that sealing it off actually keeps the box warmer without all that cold air and snow blowing in.
REPORT! I put about 500km on this weekend in perfect conditions for testing this fix. I can report that the problem is much improved but still not perfect. I'd say 95% fixed. It appears that with the airflow from underneath blocked you can now see a little bit of snow dust coming in around the door seal. Not sure why the stock weather stripping doesn't go all the way around 🤔. I will try a few things and report back.
I had it lying around. It came out of a hard camera case that had customizable foam padding inside. Some guys on hard-coresledder said they found some similar foam in a roll at Wal-Mart.
