I had a 2023 model on order (still do in fact) but have opted for a pre-owned 2022 model with just 500 miles on the clock instead. Main reasons are pixel lights and 2022 wheels. No proper explanation from polestar as to why we can't have pixel lights in Europe but USA can even though they aren't legal there. Also have leather seats in this version. Little bit more expensive that my original order, but at least we are getting what we want. Around half of my 35 mile commute is country lanes, and we are frequent visitors not north wales and the peak district. The lights look great, much less stressful night driving.

Totally agree, the lights are brilliant and make it alot safer at night down the lanes, can see the kamikaze animals easier too :)

I used to work for the company that made that software/hardware as a test driver. Veoneer. There is a reason BMW got into business with them now. Mercedes has been their customer for ages, and now also Volvo and Polestar! 🔥

Superb! You captured the "blocking out" really well, especially with the car in front. Handover due in 3 weeks - almost a shame the evenings are getting lighter!

6:30 my old passat gte had projection units on motorised gimbals that automatically moved away from oncoming vehicles. I had a lot of people flash me way before I reached them because they thought I was going to dazzle them, not because I actually was dazzling them.

Interesting, thanks for sharing this. I just ordered my P2 without the Pilot Pack - Polestar have temporarily stopped supplying the Pixel Lights due to worldwide semiconductor shortages. However, even if these lights were available, I probably do over 95% of my driving on well lit roads, so I doubt I'd see the benefit. Your video helped confirm I made the right choice! Thank you!

@@SpectrumGeeks I'll look out for that, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts. My own view is that the driver assistance functions are not worth the £2150 asking price in the Pilot Pack Lite, and that the safety features (BLIS, rear collision mitigation, cross traffic assist) ought to be standard on a Swedish safety-focussed offshoot of Volvo!

@@TheWitchfinderGenral The video was more just to make awareness of what had changed on the pack and the rumours. I agree though, the safety aspects should be standard akin to Volvo.

The lights look impressive. Putting the camera on manual focus for these types of filming saves hunting to get focus.

Is there a difference between the standard lights and those found on the pilot pack? Is your car standard or do you need a specific pack to get these lights.

You need the Pilot pack to get the Pixel LED head lights seen in this video (I have all the packs on my car). Hope that helps.

I has a BMW that had something similar but it was poor at picking out traffic at T-junctions to the left/right of the car. How does this handle traffic joining from junctions and slip roads?

So far not had any issues with that, but at the same time with lockdown I have not been doing alot of driving. Overall they are awesome though.

Wow, that is really impressive tech, and making driving safer. I'll perhaps not check the price of a replacement headlight is though, it you happen to damage one!

Ive finally gotten my P2 and LUCKILY i got mine early enough to get the matrix led, is the high beam triggered automatically by the darkness outside? I did some testing with the gf in the other car ahead of me, and in the complete dark with no road lights the automatic lights wouldnt switch on the high beam, it did it randomly at some points and shadowed out my gf's car well but mostly it kept off the high beam. Is it also triggered by speed perhaps? We where going very slow, max 30 km/h.

In my experience its triggered by both speed and ambient light. Under 30 mph it seems to activate less, i.e in town traffic that typically has street lights.

@@SpectrumGeeks is there a way to make the high beam open at lighter point of the day with the automatic feature? Seems like you need pitch darkness for it to turn itself on.

I have similar tech on my Tiguan with matrix led but polestar pixel seem much brighter . Even Audi version is much better than vw . I had to install a led bar on my car for good high-beam

Yeah sadly they have been dropped from the Pilot pack due the to semiconductor issue, hence it now being Pilot Lite and slight price drop of the pack.
