Taking a flight was smart. I did the bus from Medellin to Santa Marta and it was one of the hardest bus trips I've done in South America... we were at a stand still on the highway for most of the night, like 1am to 6am we didn't move almost at all. I took a plane to get back, haha. Can't wait to see the next part of your trip!
Elizabeth is truly a charming person. Security was particularly tight also because on January 19th of this year terrorists were able to penetrate the inner compound of the Bogota police academy. They detonated a car bomb killing 21 officers and wounding 68 others. The feeling is that the terrorists can get to almost anyone. On June 18th 2017 terrorists detonated a bomb inside the Centro Andino shopping mall killing 3 people.
