I finally installed the Spyder tail lights on the G8. They look great minus a few things I noticed about them. But thats just me being overly critical and picky. Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!
Glad you posted. The G8 seems to have excellent fit and finish on all the panels, much better than the domestic built GM. That's one of the reasons I bought my GT. I have looked at those lights, I'm glad I didn't buy, that fit would drive me nuts. I guess I'll stick with my factory lights and figure out how to keep the condensate out.
@Yoda Wunn I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets obsessed with little things like the fit being off a little bit, but it just bugs me. The lights are nice otherwise. And yes, you can totally tell the difference on the build quality throughout the car in the materials, fit, and just overall design. I love it. Thanks for watchin!
My tails have the same gaps but I’ve had them on the car for almost 10 years and they work great. I haven’t had any moisture issues with the not exact fit. Nice GXP btw
Good install video. I'm more of a fan of the stock G8 brake lights, but your Spyder tail lights do look good. I wish they would have been an option on the G6. We also have an '08 G6 GT, and the factory tail lights are rather plain and boring. There are not really any options for the 4 door sedan G6 regarding brake lights. While you were in the trunk I was reminded of the factory amp for the two 8's in the rear deck. In front of your battery, or to the right of your battery when you are facing it, there is a black rectangle piece with two phillips screws at the top. You can loosen those just enough and slide the factory amp out of the bracket. From the factory the gain is only at 50%. We just got our G8 a little over a week ago and my wife said there isn't enough bass. I stumbled across this. Just turn the knob on the bottom of the amp to about 75 or 80% of the way while playing some music and you'll notice a nice difference. I turned it all the way to the right at first with no distortion. I just backed it up because the folks on the G8 forums said the previous percentage numbers are enough, and you don't want to risk blowing the 8's. Just a little F.Y.I.
@Virtual Vapes Whut?! I had no idea! Thanks for the tip. I'll check that out. The G6 never really got much love from the car community. I kinda wanted a GXP version for a bit but the styling was a bit much for me. I am thinking about getting a set of base model G8 red tail lights to see how that looks. Might be a little too boring or maybe it will look cleaner.
@@autovice Yes. Let me know if you do the amp "hack." I'll have to check out the base model G8 tail lights. I also found, after the fact a GXP with 40K original miles, but they were asking $35,000. SMH. You are so right about the G6's not really getting their deserved love. The GXP was a little too much on the styling for me too. I did purchase the GXP rear valance so I could run dual outs on the exhaust of our G6GT. That sounds better than our G8 believe it or not. Course the G8 is on stock exhaust for now.
@@autovice thanks bro, I appreciate your response dude. I have my eye on these lights. I found a pair online but I'm just doing all my research on making sure I get the adapter piece that connects the LED taillight to the OEM harness. I think I found the right one. ✅️ 🙏🏼your video had helped immensely. Appreciate it.
@zbib43 Right on. Are you going with the clear or smoke? I kinda wished I'd ordered these with the smoke. I like them, but I think they would look better with a smoke tint on them. I agree, these more than the new sequential. Those are nice and all, but these match the car better.
@Luis de Leon I'd reach out to Spyder directly and see if they can send you one. I'm surprised it didn't come with them, it might have been missed from the factory. If not, you'll probably have to get a universal connector from an auto parts store and hook up the wires that way. Bummer dude.
@@sergiomunoz9874 Oh man, Thats awesome! What kind of blower did you put on it? How I'm thinking about going with an LSA supercharger on mine. It's kinda common but it's suppose to be inexpensive, easy , and reliable. How much power did you put down?
