I can tell the pride you have in the work, thanks for all the explanations and pro tips, also like the pvc pipe stands to hold the pipe up. Nice job

Thanks! Ironically, I just posted a video today of some upgrades I did over the weekend. I ended up cutting a lot of that pipe out for the upgrades which drove me nuts to undo all that work. It's all a journey. But, the end result was better I think.

you can use acetone on a rag to wipe off those permanent marker lines.

Love the intro to all the setup and the practical way you have approached it all - love the property and view there with your neighbours- have just looked up Southern installed

Man I am glad I came across your video! I am purchasing a Pentair variable speed pump for our pool after just 1 full season with the single speed pump that the pool builder sold us. I was thinking I needed to have my head examined to retire a $600 pump after 1 year. I wish he would have set down with me and discussed the options out there. Considering the cost of the entire project, I would have easily gone the extra money and got the variable speed right off the bat. I too have learned a lot from Swimming Pool Steve and plan on making significant changes at my equipment pad this year (such as a by pass loop for our heater as well as a flow meter). Keep of the great work. You have a beautiful pool and I hope you and the family enjoy it for a long time to come. Thanks for the content!

I decided in the last couple years with everything going on that you need to live a little and enjoy this life while we can. So there ya go! Thanks!

Ha. Swimming pool Steve cost me a lot of money too. Did all my upgrades the following spring (this year) after we installed it last year like you. Drove me nuts they reduced to 1.5 before they split the returns lines. I also did the heyward to Pentair chlorinator switch like you. Also installed a c-m-p AOP because of him. But yeah I agree great resource.

Stay tuned. I just bought a Pentair CCP420 cartridge filter and Circupool RJ60 plus saltwater system. Install video to follow.... some might say I'm impulsive...

@@theaveragejoesgarage5418 I actually added borates and Steve was right it makes a regular pool feel like a salt water pool. Very soft water without the salt. May I ask why you decided to upgrade to cartridge filter? Having issues with the sand?
@theaveragejoesgarage5418
@theaveragejoesgarage5418 3 года назад
@@Bwyv55 I really always wanted one. The SD80 is limited to 75 GPM. Even at lower GPMs I am getting sand in the pool. The CCP420 is good for upto 150gpm. And, with the size of the pool and size of the filter I won't have to clean it often. Wanted to replace it when I replaced the pump but just didn't. Since we are cutting pipe anyway for the salt system I figured I'd just do it. The intelliflo pump is a beast. Figured I would take full advantage of it. Ironically it's a swimming g pool steve recommended combo (variable speed pump and cartridge filter). But more than anything I love tinkering with things....

Nice pad 👍 I’m doing mine with 45s instead of 90 as I couldn’t get pressure rate sweep 90s. I’m gonna copy your pipe stands 😊 🙏

Nice video and great organization. I am looking to tackle re-plumbing my entire equipment pad after a new slab is poured. Where did you acquire your pressure rated 90 degree sweeps?

I ordered them online but can't fore the life of me find the receipt or where I got them. One of the major pool supply sites for sure. I know that doesn't help at all!

the sacrificial anode needs to be bonded to function properly. ITs doing nothing just sitting there.

The anode is bonded. You probably just cant see it. The bonding wire runs behind under the stone to the heater. I can promise you everything is bonded correctly.

How well does that Raypak heat pump work?
@theaveragejoesgarage5418
@theaveragejoesgarage5418 3 года назад
Pretty well when the ambient temperature is above 55 degrees. Lower than that and the coils start to freeze. They used to make a version that self defrosted but I don't think they do anymore. It's been good for us though. I run it in the mornings when the water temp is down in toe 70s and it will be at 82 by the afternoon. Can't complain.

@@theaveragejoesgarage5418 I haven’t hooked mine up yet but the manual says to have a minimum of 12” clearance from a structure ,and I’m limited in space. I noticed yours looks like its less than the 12” just wondering if this affects the operation of the heat pump?
@theaveragejoesgarage5418
@theaveragejoesgarage5418 2 года назад
Sorry for the late reply. Yeah, the back of it is more like 8" I don't count the privacy slats in the front as they allow plenty of air through. Although it's closed for the winter now, I never had one issue thankfully for the whole season. Hope this helps.

I just put the pentair heat pump on my pad yesterday. It’s huge! I like how yours has the inlet and outlet at the same location. Mine comes out of opposite sides. It’s stupid. It’s gonna cause me to have two more sweep 90’s. I’m also going to do the makeshift bypass with 2 3way handy valves. I noticed on the 3 way valve the side port is marked inlet which it won’t be. Will the still operate properly?
