My Pool Tiger (1.5 seasons of use) on my saltwater pool and incredibly impressed. Huge reduction in water evaporation. Phosphate plague issues GONE. Have bad silicate scale (only sandpaper will remove) issue from bad chemical management (never add calcium) - each filter cleaning I see the white scale washing out and slowly being removed. The water is amazingly clean and appears to be carbonated-lots of bubbles when disturbing the water. During the peak of the summer, 30% on the chlorinator was the highest setting needed.

Great to hear. Thank you for commenting. I know the manufacturers of the Pool Tiger would love to hear that. If you haven’t contacted them via their website and shared this with them, please do.

Hi Kenny, thanks for all the great information. I've learned so much. I want to make sure you get your Amazon credit for the Zodiac Multi Use Union Tool/Wrench. You have listed the wrong link You linked it to the 18" Combo Brush: by mistake. On another topic, I would be most interested in advice videos for major equipment recommendations. Such things as pumps, filters, chlorine generators, pool heaters etc. All the best to you.

Hey Timothy, thank you for the heads up on that. I will definitely take care of it. Unfortunately, I believe the zodiac multi union wrench does not have an Amazon affiliate link available but I will double check and thank you again.

Hello Kenny, can you please answer my question. Every expert has a different answer. I put 6 lbs of DE into my filter at the beginning of the season. I live in Rockland County NY. I told after a proper backwash I should only put back 3 lbs. I put back a 6lb bag. I have a salt system. My average backwash lasts about ten minutes. I usually backwash after a heavy rain and backwash until the water level is at the waterline.

OK, first, watch my video on backwashing and recharging a DE filter. Here’s a link. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2lQX2xtG7FE.htmlfeature=shared Also, depending on the size of your filter, that’s gonna tell you how much DE you’re gonna need to add to your filter after you backwash and recharge it. But watch that video. It’ll pretty much explain what I’m saying, but please watch that video. Typically for every 10 ft.² of your filter area you want to put 1 pound of DE in there. Also when I backwash a DE filter , I backwash them every four weeks during swim season and every 4 to 6 weeks during the off-season if you’re not backwashing that often then you are backwashing way too few times. Lastly if you watch my video, you’ll see that I cycle the backwashing three times and that’s what I found gets the most DE out of the grids when I do backwash. So follow that process and manage with better results. Oh, one more thing, once a year, you should have someone take apart the filter and actually hose off the grids because no matter how well you backwash the filter there’s always residual that accumulates

kenny, why do I see a yellowtrine?! i thiught you dont like algaecides! jk 😊

You’re right, you did see that and you are right I don’t like algicide. But I have one Pool that is surrounded by eucalyptus trees, and is constantly full of them in that situation. Unfortunately, I have to use the Yellowtrine on the pool. However consolation, is that the yellowtrine does not contain any heavy metals. And to deal with all the phosphates that all those eucalyptus leaves release in the pool unfortunately cost my client a ton of money so we have chosen to go this route instead.
