1. I will watch anything with Emma Stone and William dafoe 2. This is Frankenstein meets Pride and prejudice. 3. Overall, looks intriguing. Cautiously optimistic about the execution of this.

@Christopher Bedford it was horrific, and no warning. I adore artsy movies but that experience made me quite wary. Same in Labyrinth. They showed a man being tortured in graphic detail. I thought it was a fantasy movie and had taken my 12 year old daughter because it was an advance preview with no ratings. Needless to say we walked out.
The thing about The Lobster is that it was marketed - in a deliberately misleading way - as a quirky comedy. It was no such thing. Make a movie and stand by it. Don't lie about it to fill theatre seats.

Now that I've seen the film I've changed my mind. A great book adapted in to a terrible film, with an American cast & some strange English & Scottish accents.
I just finished watching it. Literally reminded me of Sweeney Todd and Frankenstein with a 2023 flair. Emma did an amazing job. Great performances witty humor and just great acting all around. Willem Defoe is awesome as well.
Yes the book Poor Things writen by the Scottish writer and artist Alistair Gray, published in 1992 won the Whitbread award and the Guardian fiction prize the same year.

the acting was brilliant but the movie was sooo disturbing! i think that was the point but at a certain moment, you get tired of watching a woman with a (child brain) getting r@ped by old men ... a bit disgusting and just weird. mark, emma and ramy were fantastic tho!

Emmas second Oscar and she is only 35, hopefully she will win 4 and wash away the taint of Hepburn somehow getting four nods for being the terrible pantsuit woman in every film.
@@riverhale6469 It’s not being simple minded to be turned off by grotesque and psychotic story telling; not to mention the explicit content that’s only there to titillate those involved with the filming and to further exploit women. It’s too bad Emma Stone can’t see the forest for the trees as she allowed herself to be exploited in the name of “art”. I’m no feminist by today’s definition but I can see why women are less respected now than any time in my lifetime, they bring it on themselves. It’s sad to watch the utter decay in our culture but it’s expected for Hollywood so no surprise really.
Throughout this entire promo she is hitting men. It's like 94 seconds long and she abuses men 4 different times! If this were the other way round this movie would be canceled before it hit theatres. Not seeing this 4 sure.
