We are not asking them to only turn to catholicism, we are asking that Russia turn to Mary and Christ and leave sin behind. The Catholic and Orthodox churches are more aligned on theology than any other churches. They have the holy eucharist and believe in Mary's immaculate conception and pray to her for intercession. We are not asking them to leave Orthodoxy. We are asking that all of Russia turn to Christ and Mary. Many many Orthodox Christians already do this.

In the past, sometimes Pope Francis has say come out with statements that appear more liberal to me than expected, hence my certain concerns for my Church. In the early hours of this morning though, as I tuned into this broadcast, I felt Pope Francis was so extraordinarily sincere and humble, not just during the whole ceremony, but particularly as he went before the statue of Our Blessed Mother, and made the Consecration. It struck me that maybe God gives us a Pope for the times, acknowledging Pope Francis might seem more liberal to some, or spot on for others. This all said, my feeling was that his decision to regardless consecrate Russia now, might well give our faith communities a degree of unity, not always enjoyed. The ceremony overall was long enough, as I watched Pope Francis deliver the various parts, often at times when he needed to walk, (e.g. to the Confession Box), he bore, so it seemed to me, an uncomfortable gait, perhaps even in pain - and for the first time in a long time, I felt really quite moved for all the best reasons, by Pope Francis. It was touching seeing Pope Francis and the children put flowers at Our Heavenly Mother's feet, as a sign of our love for her, and God. I truly trust God will accept this consecration as sufficient to win greater peace in our troubled world. I really love my Catholic faith, and just wanted to say this. @@bainer3052 I was raised Catholic so after I learned the evils about it of course I left it. I however had a hard time convincing my mother that she too need to come out of it. She was raised in it also, even went to a Catholic School and she even stated that what was a sin back then was not now! She learned over the years of research that it wasn’t the Holy Church that they force its members to believe it is. Its foundation is quite the opposite. I had no idea that the RCC Bible my mother once read was so different than my KJV until one day I went to look up a verse while at her house and I immediately noticed something wasn’t right! My mother came out of that church even had a member stop bringing her communion on Sundays when she couldn’t get out of the house. This is what we venerate, and should show gratitude for; even sorrow when we commit sins. It might be reasonable that you might have photos that help you remember a special time with those relatives or friends. Photos are of course paper/ink/cardboard etc, (they do not replace the real family, suffice they just help you in various ways!). I can assure you that when you see religious people wearing little gold crosses around their necks, or pictures of an artist's impression of Jesus etc in their homes, or a statue etc, it has nothing to do with worshipping the statue's clay, or gold that the cross is made from etc. Those of true faith, know God knows everything, including in one's heart, hence He knows one's intentions, and this is what is most important. Just because a person appears to you to venerate a piece of wood (a Cross symbol for believers!) etc, God sees the potential benefit that these symbols can represent, to help people draw closer to Him; to even help tell the world, that we are followers of Him, needing to evangelise etc In the early days of the Church, artwork was commissioned needed to help teach people about God, because the vast majority of people could not read; nor was the Bible broadly mass produced, hence the use of sacred imagery, which I have no doubt in my mind, being so beautiful (Music, paintings, sculpture etc) were divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit. (A walk through the Sistine Chapel might convince of God's role in these inspired works!) As for your vulgar reference to the sacred Body and Blood of Jesus being as a wafer cookie in shape of Sun - well, I suggest you go and research Eucharistic miracles. I was watching another channel last night, and a dominican priest was saying that the dogma of the Immaculate Conception (which is biblically based of course) only became official dogma in our Catholic Church 'after' the original schism (meaning Eastern Orthodox don't necessarily teach this dogma, yet prayed in this recent Consecration effort, by saying this prayer in conjunction with Catholic bishops, consecrating Russia to the Immaculate Heart) Also, This Dominican Priest also said in effect that it was the way Pope Francis called on all the Bishops to be in union, needed to make the consecration (which in including Bishops in the Eastern Orthodox Church) it is as if all were one Church! (I'm probably not the best at explaining things); but will try and find that video for your possible interest, but I thought this must have been a first, and a good sign. My friend, I respectfully think your interpretation is wrong. Indeed, the Blessed Mother also had apparitions to Blessed Alexandrina in which she asked for the consecration of the entire world, so the Pope is doing both things, and one absolutelly doesn't make the other null, the same way consecrating your family to Mary won't make a personal consecration meaningless. Also, it's not a sacrament to exige a correct formula to be valid, but a prayer, a prayer that the Pope ordered to be universally made, but a prayer. Important to remember, as a fellow said above, he mentioned Russia specially. The Pope did call all the bishops to do this consecration in their own dioceses with their clergy. If some didn't, it isn't his fault.

@@marcotuliomacedobicalhomar8320 I hope you are right and this consecration is acceptable as the consecration requested at Fatima and my skeptical interpretation is wrong. If it is not acceptable, it is not totally fair to blame the Pope or the Vatican, since as laity we have fallen short of the requests of Fatima, so do we deserve to be spared the horrors of war? Unfortunately, probably not.

There is ONLY ONE Mediator between God and man, and that is Christ Jesus. The Bible also reveals that those who have died in Christ are still in their graves awaiting the resurrection.
