In a referendum we explicitly voted to stay out of the EU (which is why Norway isn't a member). This wasn't a problem until we took in too many to help deal with their issues. There was/is no plan other than "sure, we can help an infinite amount of people", and nothing to follow through with properly integrating and helping people with all kinds of issues stemming from war out. Nah, rising costs of living, gentrification and poorly executed modernisation leading to parents having to do 2-3 jobs or find a new place to live as if getting a job isn't difficult enough from before when having foreign names. There are TONS of immigrants that are here for valid reasons and are honest. But ofc, if you get 5 bad apples for every 100 you take in, that's 50 per every 1000. In a small country like Norway dealing with 500 bad apples on top of the issues we already have it's going to be a problem without proper strategy. My country is nuts in how they're dealing with people and integration as a whole. Also paints a terrible image on all the amazing people that are honest and isn't involved in crime or despicable behavior. There's nothing wrong helping immigrants or taking in people in and of itself. It do become a problem if you take in more than you can handle without any proper plans for extradition. The Geneva convention states that you can't extradite people that'll get executed in their own country. A lot of people are paperless as well, so where do you send them to? The immigration services are swamped with work, and with rising tensions and helping out Ukraine even more than we can handle on top of it all is a surefire way for the children growing up in these environments to be neglected for years and years until they become teens and adults with unresolved psychological issues it's kind of logical the worst cases makes the most noise and acts out. The bad apples ARE NOT a representative of immigrants as a whole. Let's not turn racist and look down on immigrants in actual need of help because a tiny minority fucks it up for everyone else. I do believe we should be able to extradite people breaking the law back to their home country even if they are getting executed in their own countries though. It's the only way to deal with the people causing problems for EVERYONE else.
