This is a moderately difficult installation. This installation is not representative of the “normal” installation process in other vehicles.
Installation of a RaceChip performance upgrade in a Porsche Panamera Turbo (971) with the 4.0L Engine.
The installation is similar on the following vehicles equipped with the 4.0L Turbo Engine:
Porsche Cayenne Turbo (3rd Generation)
RaceChip is a plug & play add-on control unit for more power and torque for turbocharged and supercharged vehicles.

Looks doable to me. My 4.0T A8L was probably comparable as far difficulty in plugging in. Not as many plastic covering to remove though. Hoping to get the 971 Turbo soon...Let's see. Really happy with my A8L, the RaceChip makes a real difference too... Good job guys.

10 month update. It's coming off. Throwing codes. Start stop feature non-functioning. Worked fine before. Now it doesn't. I wanted to like it. I tried.

Just finished this task and here are my observations. This instruction video cleverly edits out the moments that are infuriating. The clips towards the back are incredibly difficult to reach on the 4.0 TT. It is astonishingly tight in there. You cannot see anything when your hand is in the correct position because your arm is blocking your view. This is unavoidable. You must look in the hole first and study.... And mentally plan out your arm's path to the place where it needs to be, then reach in there and feel the spot until you mentally map it out using your Braille mental map skills. It takes time and patience. It is 10 times harder than it looks in this video. I am an average size 6 ft guy with medium hands, and it was almost impossible. I literally used cooking oil and greased my forearms to get my arms to slide in there. It was that tight. If you have no experience doing stuff like this, I would avoid this. Take it to a shop. If you do it wrong, you'll break the clips, you're screwed, and you'll be flat bedding to the Porsche shop for thousands in repairs. IT IS DOABLE, but be warned, go very slow, do not force any of the clips, they are fragile and hard to get at. I would imagine a properly sized and experienced Porsche mechanic who has the muscle memory with these clips could do it fairly fast if he can get his hands in there. But people with no experience with these tight Porsche spaces or these particular style of clips are going to have a very difficult time. It took me about 2 hours, some scraped knuckles, and a full swear jar of coins.😂 This video WAS key though. It would be nigh 'impossible to find the plugs via the downloadable manual photos. So thank you. Good enough to get the job done. I'm literally going to go try it right now.

Funny, I got to that clip and spent around 45 minutes before I called it quits. Planning once again to install but before I do what is your opinion of the performance increase?

@@7zforceIt's actually coming off today. I have the sport chronos over boost option in the car so this is somewhat redundant. I was not impressed. It didn't feel that much faster to me. I think if I was going to do a tune again I would go full ECU and just forget the whole piggyback bullshit. It's not worth it. Think before you do this. I regret it.

Way too difficult. Then if you had your car serviced at Porsche you'd have to keep removing it and then installing again after, add to the fact it's not legal

that does not look easy

You are right. Ususally, the installation is very easy. However, the installation in a Porsche 4.0 Turbo is a little bit more difficult. This video should help to get the job done. If not, please contact our customer support or get it done in a workshop.
