Great work! Highly appreciated. Have a fantastic 2022.

Thanks for the video, it was useful to watch before attempting pad swap on my 992. Curiously on my 2022 UK car the front calipers have 10mm allen bolts - the rear are T55 torx though. Rear was easiest as only required the pad sensor disconnecting (and no 10mm bolts etc). I found the pistons pushed in easily by hand without pushing out other pots.

buy titan pad shims, its longer cycle for dust cover of brakes pistons but great job!

Thanks for the video guys! Do you know if this is the same procedure on the 992 carrera s/4s with iron rotors?

No caliper lube or anything like that needed? I'd imagine that would all just burn up?

Did you guys see what the weight savings are?

Dumb question. How would you back off the pads with the carbon ceramics. Normally on my other cars I would just use a large screw driver against the iron rotorface like what you guys did but I feel like that would not be a good idea against the ceramic face.

That is not a dumb question in fact it's a great question as you are correct - the CCM discs do not have the hardness of iron and thus you cannot pry against them like that. I'll ask Aaron as I am sure he has a clever solution without cheating. On a GM CCM system you can easily use large pliers with tape around the jaws to squeeze the pad plate against the piston/caliper - I'd assume you can work the Porsche caliper like that as well if you know the right angle.

Could just swap out PCCBs and just replace the discs (rotors) and pads or are the callipers different? Thanks

We worked on an 'iron' car. The PCCB's are almost certainly completely different. There will at some point be a solution for those.

Weight difference if any?

I'm wondering, seeing that as I understand it the braking forces are transmitted to the wheel via the hat, how durable is that thin aluminium hat compared to the standard steel items? My instinct would tell me there is a higher risk of the hub bolts shearing through that aluminium hat.

Hats almost never break. I'd say never but there has to be 1 somewhere.

How do you find OEM torque specs for brake hardware?
@knsbrakes608
@knsbrakes608 2 года назад
Great question. The 'correct' answer is the service manual if you can get one. For aftermarket parts we would consider engineering guidelines. What specific hardware are you referring to?

@@knsbrakes608 caliper bolts, the bolts that hold the rotor on/align center lock etc Basically everything for a complete brake change

@@jpleadr97 I will see if Aaron can cull that together. He's the real MVP (Most Valuable Porschelover!)

Weight difference?

Nil I would expect. That's not the point although someone could try to make lighterweight discs for that goal. We want more durable track discs at a lower cost to consume.

I think the dealership charges $16,000 for this.

We probably should have charged more then :)
