Very nice car that brings up memories, when i was a kid we believed the number at the end of the tachometer was the max speed the car could get to. This car would go up to 260km/h and we were amazed 😂

Well this brings back memories! My very first car was a Mk2 Golf GTi 16v in Oak Green with the Big Bumpers, a 1991 model year. Absolutely loved it, everyone wanted to race me, Renault 5 GT Turbo, 205 GTI 1.9, Astra/Kadett GSI, Escort RS Turbo’s etc.. The Golf never let me down and wish I’d kept it! Clean examples are fetching decent money now. Some fun times had with that car! 🥰😎👍🏼

What a memory stirrer. I had a Monza Blue 88 16v with 4 branch manifold, stainless Janspeed exhaust and a Stroeve induction kit. Made 172 brake on the rollers and was a joy to drive.

Sound 1a, über Heimkinoanlage ein Genuß. Aber das geilste, Öltemperatur, Wassertemperatur, alles im grünen Bereich. 80% der anderen Videos mit neueren Autos ständig eine Warmlampe an etc.. Top Golf 16v

Now I wish a Nurburg ASMR channel existed. Hearing all the different cars through the open window was so enjoyable and really immersive. But alas, Misha is usually too fast and we never hear the other cars. Lol

It's amazing how capable and competitve this car still is. You don't need much more HP, 180 maybe, and some less weight and you'll comfortable get along with rather new cars with much, much more HP. Great video, loved it :)

Brings back memories - I had a 1998 16V from new - did about 60k km in two years and it was driven very hard :-)

a 1987.5 GTi 16V was my very first car (in Canada), which I bought when it was two years old. I had the good fortune of doing a co-op work term at Porsche in Weissach, and had the luxury of driving the European version of the very same car, which had much hotter cams and larger intake bores. That car, and the drives that I took in it remain memorable!

That 16v runs lovely and cool... mine goes over 100 degrees just on the motorway! :)

Crazy a whole car load of bambinos can fly around a speed unlimited track with zero protection whatsoever! Here in Australia we cant even drive with one other passenger on track. I had a 1988 Golf GTI 16v which I put a 2.0 bottom end in. Still the car that I remember most fondly out of maybe 30+ cars that I have owned over the last 50 odd years.

It's a Mk2 Golf, what's not to love 😍 Quite probably one the best cars ever made. The lap made me smile too, and reminisce about my old 1989 valver, which I moved on in 2008, but caught up with last year, and is still going strong! 😎

I’ve owned 3 mk2 GTI’s over the years, two 8v and a 91 16v. Loved all three and really wished I’d kept the 91. They’re so fun to drive and make phenomenal daily drivers. Some day I’d like to get another late gen Mk2 and maybe slap a TSI engine and trans to make a fun little hotrod.

A co worker of mine had this car new when i was a teen. He delivered pizzas in it and i loved riding with him! We were on 3 wheels more than we were on 4 wheels😅 Great car, great memories

Wonderful Golf, it's right at home on the 'ring. Hope someday you get to try a Mk5/Mk6 Golf with the NA I5, but I don't believe they sold them in Europe so it would be a rarity indeed.

Hey - 16v mk2 was my first car. I bought it as 19 yrs old -> my first earned money, for exactly 666 euros :) I had KR engine 139hp but it shows 154hp after 420.000 kilometers. this 16v You are driving is PL I guess so it has 129hp. my was 88 production year too - but 4door. I miss it - thankfully I bought mk1 Karmann cabrio last year - what a fun to drive - no screens no electronics - just us and the car. I think that gear box in this car may not be original or its PL Gearbox - mine had 2nd till about 125km/h thx U that U 4 film older cars too! I wonder how much faster it will run with only the driver cause car weights like 960kg only so every extra kg matters - here You have like 180kg plus :)

Nice ride. Gearbox isnt origine 2Y. Normaly 5th gear @200 is around 6400/6500rpm.
