“It hasn’t been driven. It’s literally just been sitting for years and years and years”. That kind of statement when it comes to a drivers car like this is actually quite saddening.
I always struggle with these low mile cars, WHY? Drive the damn thing, that is why engineers, designers and auto workers at the assembly line spent so much time and effort - so you can enjoy DRIVING the car. A car in German is Fahrzeug and that means drivething - that is exactly what it is. Great work as always Larry, is that Bricklin next?
Because now hes gonna cash in profits. Like you said, engineers and designers and other works made a work of art, why is it bad to preserve a couple of them as art?
Well. I was waiting for the F1 Belgian GP to start, whose start has been delayed for over an hour now due to bad weather. 😅 And I was looking for a way to kill time. So a perfect time to sit and watch a new Ammo NYC video. 😄
I don’t know why Larry, but when I hear the opening montage music (don’t ever change it!), I get chills. Weird, I know. But it gets me prepared for an amazing video every time. Maybe it’s nostalgic from your older videos, but I absolutely love it. Thanks as always man.
The “Pray for bad weather” ad is perfect for these C4S models, an opportunity to use one of the ultimate driver’s cars year round! Unfortunately the owner of this one only had one goal in mind, of selling the car for more than he paid for it. It’s a shame, but still a fantastic video as always Larry!
Those kind of people should invest their money in art if they want to hide a thing of beauty away from the public. Better ROI, little to no maintenance, and a beautiful car doesn't go to waste.
Thanks Larry for explaining your thought process. The new owner will probably have to shell out some big bucks to buy it then have to spend another fortune replacing hoses, gaskets, belts, etc. which have probably deteriorated over time. Such a shame that he just let the car sit 😞
Larry, that was sublime. The internal mental debate required to achieve that finish without too much touching was immense. That's what separates the true experts from the week-end warriors! Congratulations! The car stands as a testament to your years of experience i n the industry.
I'm still loving your great videos! I've had some medical adventures and several surgeries but I'm going better. Thanks again for sharing your expertise!
@@AMMO-NYC I appreciate it Larry! I'm getting back on my feet financially, thank goodness and it would be awesome to buy another pair or two of shoes, if you're interested 👍 I sent you an email on Ammo. Thanks, man! I totally appreciate hearing back from you!!
Hint: It isn't. However reliable a Porsche is, any car that sits for years without use will have massive issues with fueling, worn rubber in hoses, fittings and suspension. The car increases in value from low mileage but loses driveability and has sky-rocketing maintenance costs associated with the low mileage. Care and love for your car while driving it consequently maintains the best value and enjoyment from it.
@@willkeen5010 With the cost (and limited availability) of components on these cars, questions like yours truly have their place, it is well worth wondering.
Very encouraging video. I just had a client complain that I didn't perfectly correct the paint on his 1980 something Mustang Saleen. I tried to help him understand your Mona Lisa comment about doing as little damage to such an old treasure but he didn't seem to get it. Anyhow, thanks for affirming that I was right; 'first do no harm'. All the best brother, thanks as always.
".. was encouraged to not lift or remove the wheel if not in desperate need.. " Man, the owner must really want everything to be almost untouched, right down to the nuts and bolts. I think the 1100 miles probably comes only from the occasional test drive around the block to make sure the engine is not dead 😂
After watching you for years, you are living your dream. I'm amazed at the hard work you put in for the awesome restores and barn finds. Love how informative your, not afraid to bring in different experts for teachings and advice. Keep up the good work, I'm from eastern CT., Down the street for UCONN, Go Huskies.
I’m the original owner of a 1998 993 C2S that I bought new in December 1997.. It has almost 70,000 miles and I regret that I haven’t hit 100,000 yet. These cars need to be driven.
I see one of those every so often in Sarasota. Navy man with a plate that says something along the lines of MyF18. It's always filthy and he drives it A LOT! Same color yellow, same rims, same red calipers.
Wow I didn’t know there were less than 1000 ever produced, I knew there were less than 1000 in existence as of today but man this car is VERY special. And it turned out amazing! I’m baffled as to why someone wouldn’t give this car the life it deserves and instead, it just sits in a collection…
I had the identical car but in the deep metallic blue. I’d buy one again today if I could find one here in Australia 🇦🇺. Keep up all the stunning work you do on all these cars, at the end of the process the cars seem to breath free again.
Man that car should be getting driven in the canyons and enjoyed, such a shame when collectors stash these cars in warehouses for no one to enjoy, detail came out awesome though and man a Porsche doesn’t look any better than in yellow 👌👌
Quite the opposite of a disaster detail and yet you still managed to make it interesting and satisfying to watch. A good example for other channels to follow.
Larry, Keep up the great content! Fantastic job. I appreciate the “detail” put into your decision making process when trying to find the best next steps on each project.
This the car that made fall in love with Porsches (neighbor had one) and couldn't wait to buy a Porsche one day. Unfortunately I grew to 6'9" and just not a comfortable fit for me :(
I had a r32 44k miles bought with 10k .90% stock a true beautiful example. I babied it and only took it out on weekend /dates stuff like that, after 12 years it was totaled in an accident and I’ll never regretted something like never driving my damn dream car. You only live once !
Pretty common sentiment, glad I’m not alone. Hope its eventual new owner drives it like it deserves to be driven. I love low-mile examples like this but I always prefer seeing a car that’s been well-loved!
I have a 991.1 2014 and in Racing Yellow with on 9k miles….of course there are lots of wealthy people in Scottsdale, Arizona with 911’s that never get driven. The women I bought this from had three 911’s in her garage. Understanding it’s a private sales, you don’t pay taxes in AZ on a private sales versus a dealership used car sale. I get a lot of great compliments on this car
I have the coupe version of the Gallardo you have coming up. I'm excited to see how you detail it, I still haven't found anyone locally to help me clean this car with the care and professionalism you have. Hoping to learn some good stuff here soon :)
After watching your Vids l spent 4 hours cleaning my Wheels. The one wee thing l had to do was steal my ďugtrs black nail varnish to touch up some wee scratches. This worked a treat.
Detailers take note of this type of content. He gets to do these types of vehicles because he is constantly showing how good of a detailer he is. As well as how he thinks during the process, you can see that the customers concerns is literally the job. No more no less. Also I low-key said this as a way to teach myself. Lel.
Despite ripping this guy for not driving his 993, thanks Larry for all the great videos as I have learned a lot from you and Kevin (as well as others and a shout out to Pan as well), and were key in my paint correction journey.
*sigh* it is such a shame this car has never been able to fulfil its purpose... such a beautiful machine left hidden in storage vs being driven, enjoyed and loved.
I for one, am grateful for low mileage, mostly “undriven” vehicles of this caliber. The further away we get from true driver’s cars, we need pristine examples like this to remind us what a performance car is supposed to be.
What a shame that such a Iconic car just sits and doesn't get the use that Porsche designed it too do ! I am all for preservation of older cars but still get them out there and truly enjoy what these engineers have given us. Look at Jay Leno and his collection of cars all of them are drivers none of them just sit and collect dust. I'd rather have a Pristine 930 that has been driven and enjoyed than one that is Pristine and not driven.. All those seals and gaskets need lubrication. Awesome Video loved your take on keeping it looking great, hopefully the new owner gets to really enjoy it !!!
It needs to be driven, so we can all enjoy it being driven by someone who likes to give enjoyment to us all, by driving past us, with our jaws dropped to the ground.
Larry love your attention to detailing ! What do you charge for this type of level of detailing plus interior, dash, steering wheel etc.? Keep up the great work and videos ! 😎💯👍
I love this, I don’t know if I would be able to control myself with my detail dilemma, my twin brother wouldn’t know what to do if this came in for a detail🤣
For only 1100 miles and having a cover on it seems to be not in Perfect condition. I would say the owner missed out of actually owning that car and the value that would be asked for the car if it went to sale would not justify the cost based on imperfections of the car because it sat around so much. Always love your detail videos the new garage space looks amazing!
Porsche- "Let's make a turbo charged engine that'll take serious engineering to do 0-60 in 5 seconds" Owner of the car- "Yep, into the garage you go for the rest of your life"
@@TBendez perhaps non turbo Porsche's should be in garage. All that road safety testing, keeping engine cool on high rpm's, aerodynamics for that? Owner is a moron mark my words.
@@itsnotfunny8257 I don't disagree with your remark regarding usage, only that the car in the video was a ram-air naturally aspirated C4S and not a Turbo.
