One of my relatives just picked up a dark grey manual one. It is such an odd sensation hearing the engine right behind your head with the top down. First mid engine car I have experienced in person.
The maintenance is, can be done at affordable prices, diy , and search around for another Porsche mechanic enthusiast. My 2006 boxster s has been pretty full, reliable, and it's so fun especially in paradise, HAWAII! Nz , Polynesia is made for this convertible. Do your research, homework and get that Porsche....... cheese huuuu! Do it, aloha from Hawaii!
2009 = new engines AND transmissions. My 2006 2.7 tiptronic had better sounding motor at 5k+ than 2009 2.9 PDK. Suspension pre 2009 was better too. Yes get manual but manual shifting PDK is decent. 1999 cable throttle 911 manual IS more engaging/involving but if going to get stuck in traffic, 50+ clutch engagements loses its charm
PDK's are not reliable after 100 K Km cost a lot to repair and still won't feel OK, on the other side, a manual can have clutch issue and it is way cheaper, easier to fix. my opinion after 2 manuals (boxter-996) no prob against 3 pdk (718-cayenne-911turbo)first 2 dead and turbo sold at 80K to give the hot potato to someone else.. the next one will be manuel for me !!
