Thank you, Porsches soundtrack has a large variation, something I really like. The sound of the 718 2.0 and 2.5 liters flat 4 is two tracks I like :-)

Thanks, Glen, thank you for the question. It is relevant. The base engine is lighter and when the T was introduced were I could option out lighter items such as 918 Bucket seats and PCM delete. The lightness I created compensated for the lack of HP. I hope I make sence.

by the way, in the end, you did not ellaborate why choosing 718 gts over base 911, lack of power and agility of the 'big brother'?

THANK YOU Gobberee!!!! I am worried about the upcoming autumn rain and winter but not as much as the darkness that starts creeping towards me. Without light, I WILL have a problem to make videos.

The Boxster GTS is a much more entertaining car to drive compared to the base model without rear axle steering. It has nothing to do with HP, the Boxster GTS feels quicker but I believe the extra kg the 911 carries around with makes the base model lose. Perhaps I will come back to this topic in a later video.

I think that JL will attract many Porscheophiles with the vid style.

Only the T model have the shorter stick. My suggestion is that you take the cars for a spin and make up your mind.

The SSkit can be bought from Porsche, I paid $760 plus installation for my 987 S. Of course my 981 Spyder has it too.

PTV is the most important option on a 718 regardless model or if you only going to daily. PTV is standard on the T model.

The Carrera T gearbox is much tighter, in fact, the base 911 is too. But we are comparing the best of the best :-)

The 6 speed is more precise but the gears are very long. The 7mt in the T revs much quicker in my opinion but 5,6,7 can be a mess as you are getting used to it. It gets better with time...

P Life Guess you'll have to stay on the twisties and never have to shift into 5, 6 and 7. 😂

Thank you, just changed the title. Will follow the statistics. My idea was to surprise my subscribers getting a bonus in the middle of the video. But perhaps that is the wrong choice?

It was a really good surprise.... I also wanted to mention it is definitely evident you put a lot of work into your videos. The multiple camera angles flow well with the the commentary and the filming is superb, particularly in this example. I think if you did a couple episodes on what equipment you use and how to film a car video, this would be very interesting and helpful to those aspiring to start their own channels. It might also open your videos to a more general audience. Your cinematography is among the best I've seen. Your reviews are excellent and entertaining as well. From a true porsche enthusiast as opposed to a general car reviewer.

I would say the views are going well, and they are truly deserved :)

If you mean heel toe you need to switch the Rev-match off. Otherwise you will get interfered in your driving. If you are eco-driving using neutral with the clutch released most likely you will have the car in normal mode to save fuel ⛽️ and as a consequence rev-matching is off. Did I answer your question?

Thanks, Janko. But when I test drove the 718 manual Boxster GTS in sport and sport +, it was not possible to turn rev-matching off; I found it to be quite irritating. In normal mode there was no rev-matching and that was actually more enjoyable. But what is the point of sport and sport + if there is going to be annoying rev-matching?Maybe I missed something? Thanks again for your reply as well as your excellent videos.

ed johnson you then need to program your own mode but I get your point it is valid.

I modded my 987S with exhaust, lightweight flywheel, ECU tune, short shifter, under drive pulley, Bilsteins. Traded for a 981 Spyder. “The newer Porsches are a better car but the older Porsche is a better Porsche.” True dat.

Hi tfleiter, Thank you for your comment. I agree the sound between prior generation and the 718 is a totally different soundtrack. That does not mean you can not appreciate the new songs... For me both soundtracks are​ beautiful.

When this video was produced the 4.0 GTS was not launched. Regarding the GTS 4.0 the gearing is not a problem.

Agreed. They KILLED it with the sound, and not in a good way. I had a 2009 Boxster and the sound (and steering) were so much better it’s not even close.

oskar j Same for me Oscar. My 718 CS was my 8th Cayman/Boxster, I kept it for 10 months but in that time never fell in love with it like I did with previous gens, and I think that was all down to the engine. I sold it two months ago and bought another 981 GTS which I adore. Yes it’s slower, has worse tech, is thirstier on fuel ... blah, blah, blah. But as soon as I turn the key in the 981 it makes me happy, just shows how important sound and the emotion that brings can be to the enjoyment.

Also agree OJ. I'm sure a nice drive but not emotionally connected.

Hej Trey, First of all, I welcome all suggestion to improve my channel. Where to start... THANK YOU for sharing my channel on social media, that I appreciate. I need all the help I can get to reach, as Phillip Kausch states" people who like the Porsche brand. I would appreciate if more viewer did the same, thank you Trey. When it comes to my channel picture I try to show a face thinking. I do not make a review based on statistics and performance data. I threw my thoughts on the model. Some of them my viewers agree on and others... Yes, the cars are the main character but its all about my thoughts and perhaps its more personal to have a picture of a person. I don't know Trey, I would think about it. The channel will not only contain Porsche I start to like making videos and perhaps some other topics might sneak in. But main focus as you all viewer noticed is Porsche and cars.

Yes, I know I'm the only one that appreciates the sound of the 718. That does not mean that I do not like the NA flat 6, I truly do. In the same way, I like different music. It's great of you, testing the 718, to make sure you get your view of the car. Please let me know how you felt. And yes it is a controversial video in many ways, I would like people like me, old Porsche enthusiast/drivers, to evaluate and if needed, change the way we look at the Porsche brand.

I am a lucky owner of a 718 since last February and I am very very happy with it. To me the sound is really good. It reminds me in a way of my dad's VW Beetle from the 70ties but a very sporty beetle :-). I can't compare with the previous sound of the Boxster though. Some say it sounds like a Subaru. Well, that's a stupid remark. It's like saying that a Golf GTD sounds like... a diesel ! Off course it sounds like some Subaru's because some of them do have a boxer engine ! Furthermore : a lot of people give comments and have not driven the 718. I am so happy with it, it is just sheer fun and drives very well. Janko : thank you for the good reviews and your honest comments. Keep up the good work !

The hardtop is the "Cayman". Identical but hardtop

Danimal Planet I know... I mean a hardtop convertible (boxster), like many of the newer convertibles. Something like the Mclaren 570s Spider.

I like to call it drivers man drivers woman to make a statement that there are many women out there interested in active driving.

@@charleslu7044 you are fine cuz you bought it and got used to it. To new buyers super long gear is never a good thing. Since you bought it you won’t admit it’s flaw. That’s normal human behavior

@@keking2178, Since you don’t have one, you jump to ass-umptions, normal behavior. 2,3,4 gears can be replaced by Sharkwerks in Fremont. The gear set is made by Guard transmissions. When I do my clutch I’d consider the gear set and a AASCO LWF. I mod my cars extensively, $20K in my old S6 Avant, $10K in my old 987. You wanna talk mods, boy? Why in hell do you need 3rd gear in town?
