Porsche GT3 RS - Buyers Guide (2016 991.1) 

i’ve owned one since Jan 2019 and have over 31,000 km so far with no issues to date 🤞🏼

I purchased the identical 991.1 gt3rs in lava orange this past April. It is my first gt3rs and I love it. It is so exciting to drive and it get's alot of attention on the road. There is no other car for the money that compares to it. Hands down.

OP can you the give production window between the "early" and "late" engine 991.1RS cars? The "mid revision" that had "DLC cam-shafts". Thanks!

Im looking at a lava orange and a white right now...used csar market looking good right now, going to hold out the next 3-4 months and hopefully pull the trigger snagging one around 190k. I have had a cayman S and a 911 S, porsche's are bullet proof. Beautiful Gt3rs and awesome review.

Had my 2016 991.1 GT3RS exactly like this one PCCB's and all.. but had sports seats. Now have a 991.2 GT3 in Agate Grey. Sounds different but I like. Much more faith in this engine. This is the story. I tracked the Lava Orange 2016 GT3RS and drove the car heaps on public twisty roads. Was superb. Tracked the car at least once a month - sometimes more often. Started having troubles on track day visits when the car had about 14000km. Problem was high rpm misfires. The dealer said it was a sensor and replace some sensor. Then had more high rpm misfires at 17000km. Was checked by Porsche again and they said all ok. Then at 44000km had another high rpm misfire while on the track and the engine died :( Porsche replaced the engine after about one month. My recommendation is buy a 991.2 GT3RS. But if you have to have a 991.1 RS make sure it's a later model and preferably with a Factory Warranty. BTW - I binned the car at the track with 88000km on it. Never had any troubles with the second engine.

what year gets the cam update? looking at a 2016 currently...

991.1 also drives better on the street. All later generations became sharper and stiffer in the name of all-out lap time numbers.

Is it worth buying a 991.1 gt3rs? Or a GT4RS would be a better investment since cayman ICE will not longer exist.
