I have an Eaton M 90 supercharger on my '98 Pontiac 3800 and the the thing is getting old and needs work. So, I'm eating up everything I see on the Eaton M90. Thanks for the video.

YOU GOT MY ATTENTION WITH THAT EATON M90 BLOWER SITTIN ON TOP OF THAT BOXER ENGINE. I'VE LIGHTLY PORTED THE M90 SC OF MY 03 BUICK REGAL. GOOD JOB ,YOU ARE GONNA NEED SOME KIND OF BOOST BYPASS VALVE OR IT WON'T BE PRETTY. KEEP IT UP 👍

You bring up a good point here ! Unlike the GM version of the M90, this Ford M90 has the bypass valve built into the inlet. You can see that get installed at the end of the vid. This enables the boost to circulate back through the inlet between the throttle plate and rotors, it is vacuum operated, and plumed very similar to the Ford.

On a smaller engine where it doesnt need so much blower speed, this gen 3 should kick ass. Gen V's really show their worth when you really start to turn them though. They stay pretty cool in comparison to some of the best ported Gen 3 cases.

I have had this gen 3 for many years, It was intended for a Supra I no longer own. Eventually I'd like to upgrade to the upgraded MP case & inlet. Those flow amazing ! Someday I will get a stronger 6mt trans and add a large Turbo making it a compound twin charged system

@@boostedproblems5139 For the money, m122h blowers would be a good option as well. Would have to get pretty custom with the blower inlet and outlet plumbing but they can support far more power than even a mpx case.

Just on M90 SC efficiency... Has the rotor blades had their epoxy coatings removed or are they aftermarket?

This is an older generation m90 blower so it did not come with the coating on the rotors. That turns out to work in my favor because I want to use water methanol injection and that would destroy the coating.

Never used it when it wasn't ported. Car used to be Turbo.

A few have hit 400whp but I believe that was gen 5 blowers. Mine is a gen 3 so more realistic 325-350. I may get the mp case/inlet in the future. I want it as effective as possible before I add a large turbo to feed it :-)

It has had the initial 20 min break in and an oil change. I'm actually about to go for it's first cruise 50 easy miles no boost and change oil again...

I used JB Weld on the silencer ports on a eaton m45 that I have on my twincharger, that little blower screams it's tit's off!! hahaa

I was started sealing them off with “Lab Metal” but when I saw how it softened when it came in contact with brake clean. I decided not to risk it! Esp since I spray water/meth into the inlet.

Every time I see someone block the Silencer ports on an M90 I cringe so damn hard. You just killed it's efficiency and added more heat to the intake charge doing that. Eaton Engineers had more reason to those ports being there than just making it run quieter. Also spinning the rotors faster creates more heat, not less. I've proved this time and time again since the early 90's playing with M90's on GM V6's. The GenV was a god send from Eaton as they basically took a look at what all the M90 modders were doing... including leaving the Silencer Ports OPEN!

Good thing I didn’t actually close them off. I had started to use “lab metal” to close them off but when I saw how the lab metal reacted to brake cleaner (it re softened and went back to a beige color) I cleaned it out and left the ports open. I had always planned to run meth through the blower so I wasn’t taking the chance of it reacting similarly & getting in the rotors and locking up. I don’t agree with the silencer ports being there for performance though. I’ve seen many people on the Supercoupe forums do it with no loss of performance. And all of the aftermarket superchargers like manguson with the mpx90 don’t have silencer ports at all. It’s my understanding that Eaton designed them for manufactures like ford/gm to be quieter, because new/stock cars come with mufflers on the intake and exhaust to appeal to the general public, and adhere to noise regulations.

If I was to install a 3rd power adder it would be NOS. For now 30psi from the supercharger and turbo, with methanol injection is good enough for me lol
