A very quick sketch from imagination. The total time on this was about 25 minutes. I wanted to keep it very simple, focusing on color contrasts, like the yellowish skin in light vs purplish skin in shade, the green top vs the red lips, and black vs white. This is 7 x 5 inches, oil on hardboard. Bid on this painting here: www.dailypaint...

I really love your style, but I only recently noticed that you sell prints! I ordered a bunch of them today, and I would have done that way before, I just didnt have any idea you sell them. You definitely need to advertise those at the end of your videos so people know :)

yes looks easy, but can you take the picture beyond this without being shown.

I know, it does look easy but the time and effort to do something like this can be over baring especially if one doesn't have the patience to learn how.

Beautiful painting good sir. I was wondering what kind of brush you're using (hog bristle, golden taklon)?
@LarrivaArt
@LarrivaArt 6 лет назад
Thanks. I'm starting to play with some bristle, but usually I use soft taklon.

You should make a video on how you take care of your brushes
@LarrivaArt
@LarrivaArt 6 лет назад
I would, but I don't take care of my brushes. I just leave them sitting in a brush washer full of walnut oil. They never dry out. I throw out the ones that get too misshapen or gunky, but that can take years to happen.

LarrivaArt I dip my brushes in oil too when I’m done painting, now. I USED to wash them with soap and water and try as best as I could to get the paint out because I’ve always hated dirty brushes and that’s what ruined my brushes (and this was when I was new to oils) but after a while, I’m starting to just dip them and leave them.
@LarrivaArt
@LarrivaArt 6 лет назад
Also, I use cheap brushes, so it's no big loss if I ruin them. Honestly, it takes a long time for me to consider one unusable.

LarrivaArt soooo is that the kind from art stores. I guess with an acrylic primer.
@LarrivaArt

Dave B I cut my own from the big sheets at the lumber yard, but it's the same stuff. I prime it with acrylic gesso. I have a video on that somewhere.

At one point on the video where the painting was finished! Then you added white to it!!!

I added the white because the background was too similar in value to the face. :)
