My Thoughts On The Song/Chart: MILD EPILEPSY WARNING. THIS VIDEO CONTAINS SOME FAST MOTION AND FLICKERING IMAGERY
A solid song off a fantastic album, being Bloc Party's 2005 debut album "Silent Alarm" this song IMO shows off some of the best work from the band, starting off pretty slow but slowly building up until it climaxes in such a satisfying way.
The venue effects are awesome but some of it can be a little excessive hence my warning at the top of the description.
Starting at 3:03 it starts to build up with some alt strumming sections, this is the most fun part of the song IMO.
Guitar Solo at 3:26 is amazing, definitely one of the best Solos of the bands career. This song is mad underrated despite being released as a single.
Song Facts:
Kele, the lead singer and guitarist of Bloc Party described the meaning of this song before performing it live at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in 2005:
"This song is about boredom - boredom and mediocrity."
He elaborated in a later interview:
"It’s a song inspired by watching Pop Idol. There was a shot of all the kids queuing up outside the audition hall, and I thought it was a really depressing image: clamouring after fame with no real merit."
It was released in the United Kingdom by Wichita Recordings and peaked at number five on the UK Singles Chart, their second-highest-charting single to date, behind 2007's "The Prayer".
The song also reached number 31 in Ireland. The UK 7-inch vinyl release contains "The Marshals Are Dead" instead of "Positive Tension".
