Funny story. I just purchased a 2006 Ford Escort. This morning I went out to go to the store, but when I tried to start the car, it would not crank over. I panicked. Tried to jump it with my other car and had no luck. Then I came in and watched your video. About a minute into your video, you mentioned the key! Well, I remember the owner saying they just replaced the battery in one of the two keys they gave me. I tried the other key and it started right up!!! It looks like I have to program the key. Thanks for posting. I was about ready to call a tow truck.......
Thank you! Widow neighbor's car had dead battery. 2008 Escape. Recharged battery, still no start. Turned key in door, locked and unlocked door with fob, and it started! Simple fix, but I was stumped. Your video got her car going!
Hey Clay I watched your reel last night ( 2/7/2004) because my daughters 03 ford escape has been sitting for several weeks not running .. after seeing your video I showed my daughter , she ran out to the car pushed the top of the inertia switch and put on battery charger after an hour it started right up!! All this took was a few minutes of research and watching a video .. while her bf was about to buy a fuel pump and who knows what all!! I think he was a little butt hurt when she told him I figured it out !! Lol!! Thank you so much !!saved us a lot of money!!

You and Tech Makuloco are the best when it come to teaching someone how to work on their own vehicles, first time ever, I had to change out my timing chain, timing house gasket, water pump and oil pan gasket. I placed each parts with their nuts and bolt in brown paper bags and itimize them just incase i have extra bolt left over, so I would know where that that belongs. been two years now didin't have to go back and redo my work all because of Mr.Tech Makuloco instructions.
Man I wish I found your channel sooner, my 2002 ford escape wasn't turning over, I replaced the starter, battery was good alternator was good. I have to check the other things you suggested
Thanks a lot i was at a Loss until finding this video. i replaced the fuel pump, fuel pump drive module, and fuel filter. Turns out it was the gotdam inertia switch

I found the switch you were talking about with the red cap. I have a 2003 Ford Escape and it is doing this same thing. Went to try to click back in place THERES no click. My cap is just hard plastic. What should I do?
As someone tries to turn it over, bang on the starter with a hammer it’s probably locked up from sitting or it needs to be replaced. You should be able to hear the relay click every time the key is hit to start
First thing to do is unplug the fuel pump driver module under the back of the car. The car should start and idle with it unplugged but will stall when you step on the gas. If the car starts replace that module and the vehicle is fixed.
My 2005 mercury won't crank or start, I install a new starter it still the same. If the fuel pump goes bad, would it still crank, or does nothing just silence? Thank you.
good knowledge to have . . . not the problem with my escape . . . the search continues . checked the fuses , all good , swapped out the relays from a known running vehicle . . . no success . it will start when i juice it with starting fluid . i'm leaning towards fuel pump . . . what do you think ?
@@sharpcarco . . . well that's good news and as i pretty much determined through the few tests i could think of . the bad news . . .fuel pumps start at $170.00 and go up from there . BTW , thanks for the super fast response , i really appreciate it , it earned you a sub .

Sir my ford escape 2008 model its cranck but no start i look to the spark plug and ignition coil no electricity cones out to the spark plug and ignition coil what is the problem sir?
Have a 2005 v6 Escape limited . Fix rack and pinion . Last year new coils and spark plugs . Last week put a new excide battery . Every thing was fine .one day when it was very hot all of sudden when turn on ac the car engine got very Heavy ,stop using ac .the engine got power back . After two days again while driving car made a jerk and seems engine stoped then again engine start working itself .next day all day things work good but at night the car while driving all of suddden engine died .all the dash board lights on .( this car just few days ago passed ny insepection needed to drive once car was ready ) any way all the dash lights on .and when try to start no click ..call a friend mechanic. .he checked and said .the scanner OBD is not getting connected .some how no current is going .he try with a long screwdriver to check starter .it was not working .tow the car to his workshop . Next day the car lights were working ,every turn signal power window alarm .the computer inside the speed o meter was telling oil % rear bulb not working ,brake system need service ,etc but it also says no information on fuel .also showing fuel 0 gallon .( the tank was almost full with 14 gallons .) today we again try to move starter .starter made just a zzzzzz sound but engine didn't move .order near starter change the starter .try to start the car nothing happened .again from outside touch the starter with a rod same zzzzz .call the guy who send new starter ,he said check the battery may be its low .( battery was put last week brand new excide sprinter 40 r 600 .) we put a boaster along battery ,nothing seems no current if going forward to engine .My mechanic friend thought may be the engine is seized ( which I doubt because it has only 127 k and as a dyalisis patient I took care of this car very much .best oil change after 3000 miles . ( the only thing this year was as car needed a rack and pinion and I had no money it sits 10 month in front of workshop .just before 10 month synthetic oil was changed .once last month when I put rack and pinion I did not change the oil as it looked golden just like new . Since last month engine was running super smooth ,any way mechanic friend check the engine rotating it with a tool .it keep on rotating showing engine seems fine .now we think there is a broken wire which is not allowing electric current to connect engine .. which wire is this ? Is it really a wire or something ..? I don't know .i only prayed God that since 2016 this is my only ride which I used to go to my dialysis center ( except those last 10 months when I took public transport MTA buses ) I feed a group of birds since the start of my dialysis 2010 now their grand grand kids wait at 3pm on that particular spot every day and I do my best to feed them no matter it's my dialysis day or not ( their homes are next to dialysis centre) also on this car since 2016 i teach a lot of people driving who could not afford driving school fees .( right now since last three weeks two more where learning initiall lessons? So I was very upset first time with God ?yesterday I questioned Him almighty why me .i spent $250 to put used rack and pinion,$100 battery ,$60 for tow ,70 for new starter ( my mechanic friend God bless him charged nothing ) .and still I don't fx my ride ? May be God is testing me as He has been testing since last 50 years .day after tomorrow will try to put the car on workshop lift and check may a demage wire is causing all this .Pray for me and my car ..you never know Whose Prayers God may listen ..till that time Buy ( any suggestions recommendations about this technical will be appreciated )
Well I think you’re on the right track is it being an electrical problem which means it’s probably not a major problem but can be difficult to locate. The next time it won’t start or do anything what do you need to do is have your mechanic do a wiggle test. I don’t know if you have Facebook If you do send me a message to my clays AC and auto repair you have to send a DM I will make a short video demonstrating the things that you can check. It would be extremely complicated and I don’t know if I can convey it over a text message I actually certain that I couldn’t because you would look underneath the hood and go “which wire do I start wiggling?” That’s about the only way I’m going to be able to show you how you’re going to need an assistant
Swap the coil around with another one, That’s very very common with these to have cracks in them and we’re stopped working they’re not that expensive you can also switch it with another coil if you can read the live data and see if it is misfiring and another one if it’s not visibly broken
Mine won't start and then anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes later it starts right up and is fine I noticed it didn't start doing it until start running the air conditioner and everybody says I'm crazy I might be but I'll turn it on and off with the key on and turn the fans on and sometimes that works obviously it's probably not it but I thought maybe a vacuum line somewhere or something to do with the air conditioner or the pressure built up or something .. idk I'm no mechanic but it's a four-cylinder and it doesn't run that great with the air on usually try to leave it off until I get on the highway or no hills around or anything like that it's a little lemon I bought for work to give it by for a couple months and expensive lemon and I overpaid but it's what I gotta make me last until I'm ready to take it back to the shady buy here pay here. I've had issues with my security system my five right now just quit working the buttons are going to order a new one and I'm trying to think I'm not really sure it might have started quit working so maybe I should get that also since I got the truck I'll always hear that beeping noise beep beep beep beep beep can I like the seat belt and I'll just do it randomly always does it when I first start it but it'll do it just driving down the road all the sudden just beep beep beep no clue what that is but it's doing it more more of the stalling are not starting I mean and that's what I really like to get down to because first month I had it and I don't want no expensive fixes I'm hoping I can't afford to more of those on this thing excuse my grammar and working and I had to use voice text my phone sucks
I have a mazda tribute and my car did a little more and had some spark when I did the starter fulid. Didn't start but it almost did. An i xant find anything or any help with my 01 mazda tribute 2.0 and I've tried the switch but don't have the tester for the gas tank but there is fuel coming out the fuel line and you can hear the pump and i even got spark when i did it. Xan you lead me in the right direction at all. Anything in the world would help.
Any ideas I took the power off my alternator cuz I was doing something I put the power back on and now my vehicle just cranks and won't start I took a spark plug out and I'm not getting any spark to the spark plug any ideas all my fuses are good it's weird ever since I took the power cable off that alternator and put it back on this issue happened
Well you probably accidentally somehow hit the crank sensor it’s located next to the harmonic balancer If when you crank the vehicle over there are no RPM showing on the gauge inside the vehicle then you’re more than likely definitely disturb the wiring somehow

Do you know what else I can check then on the vehicle I don't want to take it in and spend shitload of money I took the crank sensor out and looked at it put it back in I was not even around the crank sensor to touch it are you sure the RPMs are supposed to move when you crank the engine over I've never noticed it before
Well I am 100% positive that when you hit the key the RPM should go up holding the key for about five seconds I guarantee you that gauge will move. I would highly recommend you check your fuses every single one of them prior to taking it anywhere and also double check your connections I know this seems redundant but it is very good practice trust me I have to do the same thing to myself when I have head scratchers, I always tell my students that if it ran before you took it apart you did something to make it not run now ........ And I’ve never been wrong. I think that’s about the only thing I’ve never been wrong about ... Don’t let your mind trick you into thinking that it is something else other than what you have done the likelihood is very very small it is possible but very small nonetheless. Definitely not trying to sound rude at all it happens to me and everyone who has ever worked for me in the past we all make mistakes
@@sharpcarco well I've been on it for 3 days I'm about to give up I checked every single fuse even moved the relays around one shop I called so that I fried the PCM which I doubt cuz I unplugged the battery and everything before I touch the power wire on the alternator anyway thanks for your help
instead of rigging the key to the transponder, why don't you take the new lock to your local locksmith? they can rekey your new lock to the old key, then you'll just have to use the old tp ring on the cylinder.
Technically yes they can be , that’s the point of the channel to inspire and empower people to do things themselves . So you learn to understand an automobile , you understand more about life, kinda like reading the Bible you just understand more about being a human. Understanding your automobile will lead you to many more things. Because it’ll give you the ability to understand machinery and how things work.

Huh ….. Some people like it and some people don’t , these videos pay about 2/10 of a cent per view I don’t know who you would think I would sell this stuff to…. But I did that because I like it. Hence the reason my name of my channel is called the clayway and not the Dustin way. I’m not for everybody. I just do things the way I want to do them.
