The Hymer MLT560 is possibly my favourite motorhome although there are plenty of other motorhomes which come close. Find out why in the video!
I live in my motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
In my RU-vid channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. I couldn't agree more! In my opinion the Hymer 560/580 (Twin Beds) run circles around their USA counterparts. The basic innovative design of the "Elevated Sleeping Area," we like the Twin beds version, makes it possible for a tremendous Garage area underneath for Bikes etc. The German quality/engineering is another reason these models are separated from other models! When I first saw these models a year ago, I contacted Hymer and tried to buy one for our use. The plan was to take delivery, in Europe, building on one of the last run of US Spec Sprinters built in Germany and then travel around Europe for an extended period of time documening the experience in the RV magazines and RU-vid Videos. Obviously, the RV would have to be adapted to USA standard/Specs but the Chassis would have been a US Sprinter. Sadly, Hymer wasn't interested. LTV now make a version of using this idea, but unfortunately forgot to add the quality and Sprinter chassis.

This Hymer motorhome will clearly end up on the favorite list. Only 674 cm long and 222 cm wide but still a large wardrobe, large shower and a large garage. Thanks Alan.

I loved it. The only change I would make is get rid of that (what looked to be) uncomfortable seat behind the drivers seat, and table. Put in much nicer driver and passenger seats, much more padding, something more of recliner comfort when you have them spun around. Just have a pole table that both those seats can share, much smaller, maybe 3x2 rectangle, or round.

Niiiiice !!!I am just starting to seriously thinking about the whole idea of travelling around like that the last 2 weeks. After my (litle) reseach I've been thinking that a sprinter 4x4 hymer could be the best option to me... And here it comes this video :-) Great! :-)

I find these ‘German layout’ vans all the same. Not a bad lounge (Strangely the TV bracket usually behind you by the door. Minute kitchen and pointless oven, yet a large fridge. Ridiculously massive high bed, just to give you an enormous garage. I’d rather have a lower, better sized bed. And that gap to get through in to the bed, heck! Not easy to access at all.

"a lower, better sized bed" The 'Clever 540' has a low bed. As for TV - I think you really just need a van with a large pocket above the cab - store it in there on something soft and then pull it out and hook it on the ledge with a good DIY bracket for watching from the dinette and kitchen.. I think a 32" would fit in there OK.

Oh man, totally agree brother! So sick of the same old S___ in the U.S. where you have to pay exorbitant prices to get a lame MB Sprinter Class B like an Airstream or other (worse) brand conversion like Pleasure Way, Winnebago, etc. that all have the same silly layout with the same lame folding sofabed, microwaves, wet bath, two TVs, etc., while in Europe you pay less and get so much more. I thought Hymer was getting into the NA market when they bought RoadTrek (I can't remember exactly what went down)... hope they do and hope they bring this and the Grand Canyon S with them!

Once at a show I looked at a new US hugemobile. I lifted a bed cushion and a 12' long splinter in the wooden bed frame sticking out nearly pierced the artery in my leg. The tassels over the side window were falling off. I ran away to get my safety equipment before I dared venture into another one.

Price CDN $100,000. Few things I would change. Dining bench did not show under bench storage by pulling up the bench cushion access was a little cubby.

My favourite wagon also Alan👍 However I was told last year that Hymer would not be continuing the 4x4 AND they would not be doing any more Mercedes 560's😧😩... So I bought the new Mercedes sprinter van which I am converting myself... Had I not paid the slightest notice of what the Hymer dealer was saying OR just knew it was a means of them trying to sell me one of there last seasons vehicles I would have waited and got this one👍... if I was thinking of getting a Hymer now I would have gone to this show and seen what they have for sale, their new line up, then order it there NOT go to the UK dealers first, big mistake. However that is one pricey model😧 BUT it is a Hymer AND a Mercedes 4x4 so it's not really really expensive just a little expensive👍😂

This is a beautiful van with a nice price. There’s nothing in America that’s this nice for that price or any price in a class b. This is only around $79,000 and I haven’t found anything in America for less than $100,000. I love the storage and that a spare tire is included. I haven’t found a USA class b model with a spare tire. I don’t like cassette toilet but I would put up with it for this model. I’m going to wait for the Panoramic class b van that’s suppose to come to America in 2020 although I haven’t figured out how to carry a spare tire.

Open spices for salt and pepper. The small bin could be used for garbage scraps. Sky lights can be problematic for cooling an heating.

@@VanlifewithAlan They're great, I got a relatively cheap chinese kit and converted my folding mountain bike. I can easily do 50 miles or probably double that using less assistance. I'm in the opposite situation to you as I've got the e-bike but not the campervan (Yet!)

Nice van- I wouldn't bother with 4x4 tho. Do wish it was all one color- don't like it being black at front of vehicle and all white in rear. The shower is gorgeous tho!!

Never buy a van that has a manufactured outside,always buy a van that is a van on the outside,reasons why, if you have a crash it can’t be fixed at a panel beater , it is all waterproofed with silicone which will eventually fail and the damage is mould and mildew ,and again can’t be fixed at a panel beater shop , your welcome

A practical layout - much the same as your old Hymer transit. What I can't rationalise is the 60,000 euro cost of fit out on the basic Mercedes vehicle. Having looked at this vehicle the quality of materials and build standard is definitely more "caravan" than motorhome - faux veneers, iron-on edging and plastic screw caps - not the Hymer quality of old. Expect a noisy driving experience as all the fixtures start flexing and rattling.

Thanks Alan. Coming from owning a caravan, I still shudder at the prices of motor homes. But what continually surprises me is that Alde heating isn’t available unless you’re splashing out on the top end vans? So on these European vans, even a £70k spend can see with a Truma blown air system?

I don't know Murilo. One of the problems is standardisation which is a paperwork exercise. The next is the cost of the import, not only the freight (around USD2k) but also the import duties and purchase tax. I think the best people to speak to would be a customs agency which deals with vehicles.

I really love the ML-T but that dual color is hideous. Can the bench seat be adjusted to seat two people? It needs a folding mattress to go over the bench seat and the front seat(s) to add some more sleeping arrangement for two more and it can be a family camper.

There is a semi integrated Hymer motorhome on Mercedes chassis with a lifting bed above the table/seating area. The roof of the motorhome will be lifted at the place where the bed sits so it doesn’t have a completely flat roof

I am a bit disappointed because I own the Hymer T414 Crossover which is slightly smaller (5.99 m) but apart from the "separated" shower/toilets nothing really much better . Worse, I have the TV option which slides up and down at the entrance of the RV, a must, because it can be seen from anywhere ! Thanks for the video.

Electric bikes don’t work that way. They are all pedal assist and heavy. So you would be using the electric motor always as it’s too heavy to ride without it. You could however use it in Eco mode to get a work out and then speed home in turbo mode. But I always use turbo mode as it’s such great fun. They are a different beast to a normal bike. I got myself a Tern Gsd Cargo bike so I can carry shopping,kids, passengers etc. This is my main form of transport in the city now and I don’t drive very much at all. I just need the campervan now.

Based on the beginning, I was quite excited to see this. However, I must say, I do t care for this at all. I find the design to be utterly claustrophobic. Too few windows, way too much wood, wood, and more wood. And cheap wood, at that. There is zero need for a sink in a van bathroom when there is one literally 3 feet away. Uses up precious space. The bathroom is just too big, overall. Everything else felt very cramped. The mechanicals seemed to be quite difficult to get too and working on them through tiny holes drilled into cheap wood seemed shortsighted. The reviewer spent zero time talking about how it’s heated, cooled, Ho big all the tanks are, etc. Candidly, I couldn’t find much to like except the large garage.
