I bought this on DVD cause it looked ballar... and it was.. so damn good! This is honest story telling in a world that stays true to itself. This is solid world building and story telling. Every once in a while someone tells a story who knows how to tell a story. Gripping and ripping! Dont even need anything before this movie
Agreed. We originally thought the Meier Link and Charlotte relationship was possibly a case of Stockholm syndrome but that scene really goes to show their love was real.
I think another interesting part about our relationship with these stories is when we attempt to interpret the world building through our understanding of reality. For instance, despite the high technology, we can infer that the turrets are not AI powered, but use extremely accurate motion sensors. Otherwise they would recognize D as the true target of interest. From this we might glean the understanding that there may have been a previous conflict with artificial intelligence in this world's setting, prompting a focus on more analog, though still highly advanced technologies. Note how the motion sensors are tuned to objects moving at specific speeds or distance from the building. They may have set it to target a specific stereotype of enemy.
Great observation! We think Bloodlust does a really good job of having multiple layers in its story. So much more goes beyond underneath the surface of what we're simply seeing on the screen
@@jumpreport I think Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie is my favorite movie of all time for the same reason. I wonder now if they hired some of the same staff for its production. Any chance you'll do a piece on it?
@@jumpreport Yep. Remember the scene with Tails's workshop? How he repairs the watch? I was remembering that lately, "Thinking on it now, that setup must actually be really great for avoiding neck pain. He can just look straight ahead at a monitor while his machine does all the soldering." Actually, might've misremembered that part, but still kind of the idea.
I think my advice for those that want to watch this movie is read the book first, if they are interested in reading the entire series. Since it is based off of “Demon Death Chase”, there are a few changes from the book to the movie. However, forewarning there is SA in this book series. So I highly recommend to watch the movies if this triggers you.
You've convinced me to give this a rewatch. I originally watched it when I was in my late teens and it left a sour taste in my mouth because I felt that nothing really happened. Your opening account for example could indicate what you said, or it's a guy with no regard for safety running through extreme danger as an opening display of plot armor.
i assumed the daughter in love with the vampire became a vampire when he bit her, they go to space, and live happily ever after as vampires. Now you're telling me she died!?!? WTF! I can't believe that... its a matter of interpretation ... in an earilier scene they literally discussed how she wanted him to turn her and he was hesitant to do so cause blood lust is terrible thing.
Not in Space* I mean, the Nobility built satellites, rocket ships, and settled all the planets and moons in our Solar System, but this film is set firmly on Earth roughly 5,000 years after the decline of the pinnacle of their civilization: Everything’s rundown, in disrepair and in ruins, and Count Meier Link may be the last pureblooded Noble left on Earth. So, TECHNICALLY not in Space!
