Potential school closures worry Inglewood parents

With the additions of SoFi Stadium and the RU-vid Theater and the soon-to-be-opened Clippers stadium, Inglewood has grown significantly over the last decade. However, parents said schools are feeling the opposite effect, with four schools within the Inglewood Unified School District closing since 2019. Bianca Rae reports.

As a Inglewood resident....I would NEVER send my kids to Inglewood schools...maybe ask why enrollment is so low..there are plenty of kids in the area...no one sends their kids to the schools.

The enrollment is so low bc the state and county are running our district into the ground. They are creating the issue and then saying we have to close the schools bc of the issues they created. Lastly, we have too many parents who are unwilling to fight for their kids education. They’d rather do what you did and take their kids to another district. However, that’s doesn’t help us and everyone’s tax dollars is still going into the pockets of the county and state. We will never win if we continue to run.

This why we need to make passive income. Then u dont have to work for nobody. Home schooling is for parents with free time. We blacks need to step it up

It seems like the drop in students might be due to them tearing down the housing in that area where alot of low income folks use to live. My family had to move from the area because the new shopping center and our apartment building was sold.

The State and County departments of Education are creating the problem and then saying the schools must be close due to the problems they caused. Their only goal is to close our schools to sell and lease the land to developers to expand their sports and entertainment complex. We need everyone’s support bc no CA school district is immune to this. Please help us!

Why not take existing buildings and make them into K-12? Last week Anaheim announced they’re laying off 100 teachers due to low enrollment and no money in budget for payroll and Anaheim is considering K-12 schools as option to avoid layoffs. J/S

Its a public safety issue. I don't know where you live or whether you care about the safety of the youth in your community, but gang violence is a very serious and real factor in our community. As adults, it is our duty to prevent violence, especially in spaces where we are trying to educate our kids.
