Small cuts because the kitchen was a mess! Can you tell I'm stressed... There's plenty more coffee content on my other socials: TikTok- / connordoescoffee Instagram- / connordoescoffeee Subscribe for a coffee
OMG!!!! ❤ is this why i like watching the video? it popped up on my feed, caught my attention & stayed for the nostalgic feeling you described. despite it being a busy lunch rush, this in my opinion is very calming.
I didn’t expect it to be as stressful though- I mean papas pizzeria was 5 orders and by the time the third order came around I used to start panicking and messing things up
Also i have respect for the guy, its just that this doesent really qualify as a rush, good on him for managing everything smoothly, but I wouldnt even say any of this was stressful and wasnt anything close to a rush, just a couple peeps wondering in that werent even served super effectivly
@@bryanroberts7703you have to take in that he is on his own, which is difficult in the first place, and he had to do multiple orders at a time at one point in the video- which is very difficult alone as being efficient with your time is very key in those moments- taking too long will upset customers. i think youre underestimating the situation
@@Skyblue-bq6ev definitely not bro. in PL for example, some people would go out of their way to ruin his mood just because he looks "too relaxed", literally. i didn't work in starbucks particularly, but it did happen to me a lot as a cashier - someone would literally say something along the lines of "why are you so relaxed? don't you see how many people are in the line???!". maybe in starbucks customers are generally nicer. they came to just have a coffee after all:D
as someone who was a standard barista before becoming a starbies barista, watching your performance makes me miss the days where i was making drinks to this standard. now its just pressing buttons and making whatever colorful mess starbucks releases. keep up the fantastic work, you’re making a bootleg barista like me very proud
@@mariocota27you sounds so passionate about a small mistakes that he made. I don't think any human being can keep up or consistent on work with busyness, working alone and to make sure everything cleaned up. I'm not saying cleaning is hard but to maintain it cleaned, it's nearly impossible. Imagine ourselves work in busy cafeteria, non-stop orders and working all alone day and night.
Efficiency? Spent so much time taring the portafilter from the scale for each order. Instead of using the Tare function of the scale she could “zero” the scale with the portafilter on it once. Then and the grinds. It’s not like we are in an organic chem class here and need to be accurate down to the microgram. There was a ton of time wasted so it really is not efficient. But she does work hard and is consistent. Managers really need to get their heads out of … you know.
@@exodeus7959 The portafilters don't weight the same, design flaw of the machine that was amended for the version with in built scales. A dosing cup or two would fix the workflow issue though.
It's nice that you have thermometer. I've been learning how to make coffee for 4 days, and during this time I burned my hand twice😭. On the other hand, thanks to this, I have already learned how to make milk elastic
It's ironically so therapeutic to watch... I know how stressful barista work can be and I personally cannot handle hospo but you make it look mega easy. Seeing you get into the zone and the flow of going from order to order is mesmerising! Those dusting hand claps in-between actions, too 👏 just extra satisfying. Amazing work, my dude ☕
Man this brought me back. I didn't have a lot of love for hospitality when I worked it, but now I'm away I have some aspects of it I look back fondly on. A bit of kindness from customers never failed to boost my energy on a stressful day.
Being a software engineer myself, I often get that urge to do something physical with my hands. Watching you mastering your craft really is a kind of meditative experience for me. I love it !
As someone who is a bartender/barista at my work. Your efficiency and politeness with the guests are absolutely fantastic. You have a great attitude and people SERIOUSLY appreciate it without even having to say anything. Your latte art is absolutely amazing, and effortless 😤💯
You are an absolute rockstar. Not only are you great at working solo, but while you’re working on someone’s order, your chatting with the next customer and aren’t slowing down or getting confused at what you’re currently working on. Not to mention you’re so kind and friendly
I worked at Costa Coffee for a few months, and it didn't suit me at all. I felt incredibly overwhelmed and stressed. Watching this makes me really anxious because I feel like I would be absolutely panicking in that situation. But after 10 mins or so of watching you, it is really calming and almost empowering... I feel like I've been on a spiritual journey watching you work haha
@@MrKeyalisit’s not about making one coffee tho it’s about having to make many in such little time trying to make no mistakes and dealing with rude customers
im starting my first shift as a barista today.. really nervous but this is making me excited lol, ive worked in a bakery before and know some hours can become really really stressfull, the way your so calm yet so efficient and quick with your work really amazes me.
From one solo barista to another, I'm amazed by how well you work even during a rush. Also, coming from a small local coffee shop, seeing some of the exact same items but also with high tech coffee stuff makes me happy.
Hi can you help me decide on an espresso machine please??? You seem to know your stuff! I want to buy one for my daughter who used to work at Starbucks and she loves her coffee. Would you be okay with doing everything manually like weighing your coffee and using a thermometer. Or would you want a machine that helps a bit by giving you a perfect dose of coffee. Also helps with by steaming the milk for you if you want and has a built in thermometer. Basically I’m choosing between Breville Barista Express, Breville Barista Touch Express, and Breville Barista Touch IMPRESS. If Baristas prefer manual stuff might as well go with the lower price.
@@Nurse._.drea28I mean if she works at Starbucks I think she’d prefer not having to do her same routine for work at home, I Cook l, and sometimes I like to cook at home n sometimes I don’t depends on the day tbh ik it’s diff but I’d say go w both options or jus the one that provides the measured amount 🤣
I love how you gave the gentleman the extra few stamps for being a regular. I have been a regular at the location I go to and they had me start from the beginning. Not sure if there is a rule for some places on doing that though. That was great customer service there.
My regular place would give you a free drink at the end of each card, but I went so frequently (daily) that they started asking if that's the "normal size I get" and then they changed it from a free drink to a discounted drink. Lol
this is making me nostalgic for my barista days. i really loved your efficiency! you handled being a solo barista during a rush better than i did. we didn't have those built in washers for the jugs so if i couldn't run to the sink (which was in a room behind the counter) my counter was looking a mess! love your set up!!
love this! little tip, if you pour your milk or put the espresso in water right away once it’s done pulling, it’ll have a creamy, sweeter taste and texture. it preserves the integrity of the espresso ♥️
I greatly admire and respect all of you food service professionals. It's truly impressive how you handle each customer's orders with efficiency and maintain a sense of order, while also ensuring the meals are beautifully prepared and served in the right sequence.
This is hypnotizing. I just got a Breville espresso machine and now I appreciate even more your work, the incredible attention to detail pays off, it makes a real difference in the end. Your customers are lucky!
I've spent the last 30 odd minutes living through your POV and feeling like i don't have raging terrible dyspraxia and I could actually work in a job like this. Props! Efficient and natrually decisive movement. There is a craft in everything and you're a master of yours.
WOAH what are the chances I'd stumble onto this comment. I have dyspraxia too and I'm an absolute ditz doing anything hands-on for the most part but I'm a barista myself. I'll say it was a hell of a learning journey, doing latte art and the like is still a struggle sometimes but I absolutely love the job. Not even a massive coffee drinker but I found the step-by-step nature and repetition of making coffee made learning and getting better at it really easy and eventually my co-ordination caught up. Maybe give it a try someday, won't know until you do if it might be for you! And piling on to the love for the creator I'm absolutely floored at how effortless you make every aspect of this job look while under stress and making damn good coffee while you do it, props to ya mate.
I recently started a new career path after having been in the coffee industry for 4 years, as a barista, cafe manager, and consultant. I love my new job but I miss the barista flow. This popped up on my feed and I had it going on one screen while working on the other. You handled yourself great and looked like you were having fun even though it was a bit stressful! Thanks for the vid!
this video helps me feel calmer before going to work; I feel like it's like a warm-up or something. Watching him do the same repetitive actions over and over again and being in that flow makes it easier for me lol
This is just so satisfying and nice to watch, and it's really cool how nice you are to everyone and I'm amazed at how you manage to do all that stuff so fast!
Brother, I worked 9 and a half months at a Stewart's, I know the pain of solo working during a lunch rush. You kept your calm and just got through it, quick, clean and precise and you were damn polite to people as well. Cheers dude, I'd buy you your own Coffee to enjoy after the rush was over if I'd been there
id love more videos like this. such a comfy vibe, I love watching the rhythmic and artistic process you go through, and you deal with customers so well. also my only experience with coffee making is in a VR game, so it was fun seeing the real life of it
you did such an amazing job!! bro i would be so stressed but you kept it under control! :) your work is very much appreciated, from one service worker to another
I know that feel when you're stretched thin all too well working in an understaffed cafe myself, yet you still present and serve the coffees beautifully and took your time while also being efficient! That's a job well done at the end of the day.
How have i been sat here for 30 mins glued to my screen watching you make coffee. Thank you for the escape. The world is crazy and you make it seem more simple. I mean as a high complement
i did a little bit of barista work when i worked at mcdonald's, and that was so fun but so stressful. i eventually quit because the workload was so much, we had hardly any staff, and the staff we did have would yell at me for the stupidest things. they would also pressure me into working overtime. i worked 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, sometimes 10. i would get 3 hours or so sleep each night. so grateful i had that work experience, but i wouldn't go back in a heartbeat. edit: forgot to say i was 18 at the time, and this was my first job.
This video brings back memories. Some good, some not so good. I worked many a solo shift at the local bakery, and while I loved the customers and found the rhythm and flow of the busy rushes quite fun, it was definitely better when I had one of two more staff on shift. It was really, really unfortunate the few times I had to turn a customer away if they asked me to do something for them that'd take me away from the front of the shop for more than 5 minutes. An example I'll never forget was on Mother's Day. We had a steady rush of customers picking up cakes, buying cookies, breads, pastries... all very normal stuff. But then a young lady came in and wanted to buy 8 sandwiches. It was so awkward, but there was a line of 4 or 5 people behind her, and I knew her order would put me in the back for 15 minutes of more, so I had no choice but to turn her away. Normally, I'd have at least one other person on shift with me, or the manager/owner at least, but it was a Sundway during wedding season, and the owner often delivered cakes. My coworker who'd work with me on Sundays would have usually been able to help me, but I think he had either been pulled along to help with the wedding cake delivery, or he may have been pulled away to help out at the farmer's market (where we also sort breakfast pastries and bread every Sunday). Normally, situations like turning a customer away rarely happen, but regrettably, it DOES happen. I had to make a snap judgement decision that likely didn't reflect well on the business overall (and the customer was DEFINITELY not happy), but what could I do? If my boss or literally anyone else was there, the situation would have been different. Unfortunately, I had to choose the lesser of two evils.
Working solo can be tough, I've had some real challenges at the cafe with entire offices needing 30+ coffees on the spot or rushes catching you off guard. I think it's just important to communicate with the people waiting and let them make their own decision. I hope looking back you can remember the times where it was fun! Sounds like the harder parts of the job were purely management issues and you did your best. Thanks for sharing!
@@ConnorDoesCoffee Yes, you're very right. There were some aspects of my time working at the bakery (I was there for 4 years) that were extremely positive and impactful on the type of professional I became, but there were also parts that I look back on aghast (mostly management issues). All in all, it was very formative to work with the public, and to develop customer service skills. I loved that job, despite the aspects that weren't the best. The people I worked with were also some of the best co-workers I ever had.
Hey i'm starting to work in a bakery and I wanted to ask you in which way you turned them down? Like, I can't think of the most polite way I could do it and I wanna be prepared in case that happens...
This is amazing, helps me very much now that i'm still learning in my job, the latte art always make me nervous and you made it look soooo easy and quick
i'm not a barista but you are really comforting to watch!! i really wanna try being a barista sometime as it looks really fun, and i love the art of making designs in the coffee. also i really admire how easily you are able to talk to customers, you sound so laid back. this video is so relaxing- not really for you haha but you are so efficient and handle everything with such familiarity and ease. i dont know what it is but this video really grabs my attention and soothes me. thank u for posting it's really cool to see your amazing work!! ❤️
So much respect for the care taken in EACH and EVERY step.. these days people just leave the milk jug on the machine and let it froth itself :( The fact that you weigh the grind so specifically and clean the wand makes me have so much confidence in the quality of you're coffee. so good, keep it up!
Its hard to explain to my loved ones how much I can find peace in chaos or in busy moments but these video sums up really how i feel , it just gives me calmness, cheers mate ! Keep up to good work, I respect you so much !
wow your work flow around the machine is incredible! love steaming the empty milk bottles, super satisfying to squish. the way you interact with the customers is so great :)
I never would’ve known that watching a barista doing an absolutely amazing job would be so satisfying to watch if not for this video. I would love it if you were to make such a video again!
Great work my man. I have to do pizza solo sometimes. I run Mondays open to close and I usually end up calling one other person for backup during dinner rush. Lunch rush ain't bad. I can handle it solo. Serving slices and making pizzas start to finish while making sure customers aren't waiting too long is definitely stressful work, but super rewarding.
After I got out of the food service industry I swore I would never go back, yet here I am watching you with a sense of nostalgia for when I was one manning the ice cream store I worked at through High School.
Watching you work is so satisfying, I can def feel how aggrieved you are in this at times but you work through it so well. I also love how you try keep the station so clean even during the busy shift. Also your latte art is just beautiful 🥺
Massive respect!!! I learned alot in this 29mins than in 6 month's in barista job. The preciseness of coffee grams and customer service hand in hand is commendable. Thank you for the video man.
Hey there! I just found your channel today and I must say, you are a great barista on your own! You work so hard and I'm very proud of you, keep up the great work! ☕
I would be absolutely covered in coffee stains if I was in your position, I worked a coffee stand at a large Sydney coffee festival (first time making coffee with a proper machine rather than a stovetop cafetiera) and by the end of the day my light grey jeans had a strong resemblance to a holstein cow ahaha
Aaaand i got myself a new hobby, watching you work is so relaxing and also interesting. I work at a small shop that has natural/wholefood products. I worked alone there for 3 months and now we got some extra help, but dealing with the public and running the business, all the small tasks can be so taxing on oneself! anyways, linking your content a lot, keep up!
I started my first day as a barista today and this came up in my recommended! 😊 We use the same coffee machine and Im using this video as a reference :3 Thank you so much for your hard work!
Would love to see more longer videos like this. I've enjoyed having this on in the background while doing my own work (coding!) and house chores, and occasionally coming back for short breaks watching you whip up those lovely-looking cups. ☕ Just subscribed by the way. 😎
Awesome ! I watch all your video and the time has flown. Impressive. All is impressive. Your dexterity, your professionalism, your sympathy ! Thanks for this video 🙂
watching this i thought being a barista would be something i could do, then i saw the swirls with the cream and made me realize how i probably wouldn't. Keep up the work! ❤
