POV: New Hermes Employee Reacts to Clients' Asking for a Birkin or Kelly

Hello lovelies,
In today's video, I pretend to be a brand new Hermes employee who gets asked by many shoppers for a Birkin or Kelly. As the day goes by, this very friendly and upbeat Hermes SA starts to become jaded by all of the requests for Birkins or Kellys with no sales made yet. By the end, she becomes an Hermes SA that may seem as "rude" to others but is just tired of customers who ask for a B or K with no real interest in the brand nor the store's other goods.
Note that this POV was inspired by Isaac's original POV video. Reference: Isaac's Channel - / alohaike .
This video was all in good fun, so I hope nobody takes it too seriously. Thank you!

I find beautiful purses at Marshall’s at great prices. I feel superior to the idiots who spend tens of thousands on a purse…a frikking purse! Only those who know the price of things but do not know true value of things, put up with the crazy behaviour of this store and their ridiculous prices. Plus, the purses look like old lady purses, so there’s that…lol.

@@Katrn30 nothing you will ever find at Marshall's could ever compare to the Art that is Hermés products but especially the bags. All genuine Hermés products are hand crafted using the best n most rare materials in the world. Take the Kelly or the Berkin handbags for instance, like every item Hermés sells, one artisan constructs the bag start to finish, taking up to 48 hours for a single bag contrary to anything found at Marshall's made by some machine or a child in a sweatshop. Plus, those two bags in particular retain their value better than most cars, making it a very safe investment with a consistent solid ROI.

I think most consumers are used to a company that operates with a business model that is focused on scalability and growth, and Hermès and other high end companies operate on a business model based on exclusivity and value. That’s why a lot of their handbags are considered investment items and go up in value.

@@aceimus5319 the quality of Hermes is superior to what other brands offer like Chanel (Went up once at the boutique, the sa tried to hide the scratches on the bag. Most people who own Chanel bags will tell you how the quality and finish have decreased), Dior (SA herself said that the quality of every almost brand has decreased).

oh my, i didn't know this kind of business model/culture exists. now if it's like this, the SA is put into bad position. Customers will blame her for being rude and not selling the bags they want, the company management will blame her for not making sales, tho they themselves are preventing her to sell the bags when she could.

Thanks for all of the love on this video! Just a quick disclaimer, I love Hermes and most of their SAs are quite lovely. This was just a creative expression of me portraying an SA transitioning from being super eager to please to more professional and curt due to the constant demand for Birkins and Kellys they must receive on a daily basis. I sympathize with both the customer and the SA in this scenario. Enjoy!

I am very “for” stores choosing who they sell to. It is about freedom for me. You don’t want to sell me an item, I am fine with that. Because I also have the choice to “not” want to shop from them ever. It’s called freedom. I have never bought a birkin, or a kelly, because I choose not to support brands that work this way. But I do think they should have freedom to run their business how they want. When I go shopping, I want to be pampered. It isn’t about the “chase” for me. It is about treatment. And if I am about to drop thousands I want the experience for me to be top of the line. That is the original concept of shopping at boutiques, right? The “personal” welcoming attitude. Hermes does not have this approach. So I won’t support them. Honestly, I don’t understand the hype.

This video is hilarious you have a great acting skills so basically Hermès is just a lying piece of crap where people have to pass some elusive test and are discriminated by the sales person mood and evaluate it and really stupid things just like how this sweet girl had to go back and check with her manager to see if the buyer is worthy enough rich enough has the right look etc. it’s disgusting. So then the sweet lovely girl has to harden her self and act like it’s the customer who’s “the problem“ for daring to actually want to actually deign to come in to buy these products that are really in the end just nice bags. What a silly stupid game people take so seriously. I find the whole “journey“ “game“ “wish list“ or Whatever nonsense you wanna call this crap silly. Basically you have to take a damn brand test. I don’t see other luxury retailers making you prove a point and a test if you have the money you can buy some thing that’s at the end I don’t know that Lamborghini or Porsche Rolex or other high end luxury Retailers prey upon peoples insecurities this way ridiculous. I know it must be very hard to work at Hermès. Not the vibe in life I roll with to prove I’m a valid person Maybe the sales associate should be pissed at the establishment and her management that she can only make commission on scarves Home Goods and perfume jewelry etc instead of being pissed that the customer actually asks for birkins or Kellys

OMG! This is despicable. These tactics are discriminatory and there is no rhyme or reason to them. I think that only very rich people are able to buy these bags and they are able to get anything they want pretty much. Hermes likes to screw with them and say, "you think you are going to buy a kelly or birkin bag? I'm the frickin' St Peter of Hermes and you ain't gettin' one. But you might if you buy a bunch of other things you don't really want. But don't count on it. If you want a bag you should be able to plop your money on the counter, order what you want, wait for it to be made and wait six months to a year for it but you get your damn bag!

I think of this is the way Gen perhaps the sales assistants need to be trained and have more experience in selling... and in particular being tactful and not letting out secrets. 😳🤣😁 for real though 😇

It's yelling at a wall. At this point, customers KNOW what the deal is, but they keep playing the game; hoping they'll be lucky, thinking they'll win, or wanting the drama for content. Eventually, your sympathy for the person yelling at the wall wains, which given the context, wasn't much sympathy to begin with. Great video.

Wow so it’s real true what they say!? Can you talk about why they do it that way? Resellers are making such a huge profit. Hermes would be making more money if they weren’t as strict and people wouldn’t have to purchase from resellers. Thoughts?

Hi! So, my opinion is that Sales Associates get tired of people coming in and just strictly wanting a Birkin or a Kelly. I think it is best to build a relationship with your local Sales Associate and not just focus on getting the bag. If someone only wants the bag, then it may be worth considering the resale market. For me, I love a lot of their other products and have had an amazing experience Shopping with my local SA. Hope that helps! I’ll see if I can do a video on this too

That's part of the problem. Resellers are getting bags and selling for double. It's not ok. I would think the supply is limited so they want to know you to stop the resale cycle.

If they just let everyone buy one they wouldn't be as much of an investment and people like the status of owning a Birkin. And people buy thousands and thousand of $$$ worth of stuff in the hope of getting offered a bag. They would probably lose money if they let anyone with coin walk in and buy a bag. I think it's really gross personally. I like the Kelly bag but I wouldn't want to give Hermes my money if I was rich.

Why would anyone even beg for a bag? What is it so special about Hermes bags anyway? I would just go to another great luxury house and find something pretty there. I could never beg and wait months and even years and embaress myself to that level over a PURSE. This is so wild🤣 have seen so many Videos about it and i still dont get the hype. What is the problem finding a brand that actually is willing to sell a bag for you without knowing you?

Tbh if it was my brand I would just straight up exclude anyone mentioning those bags from buying anything lol. I don't know if it's a realistic situation, but if someone came to my store and said they wanted to buy a bunch of stuff and then when they found out they couldn't get one item they suddenly didn't want to buy any of it anyway, I would tell em to F off and never come back. A lot of luxury brands actually have the same business model as Hermes, you will only be offered the limited editions if you have a history with the brand. Both in designer fashion, but also with brands like Rolex, Ferrari etc.. Difference is with other brands people will happily buy a lot of the other stuff, while with Hermes it seems like 99% only care about those two bags.

Exactly! Personally before even deciding if I wanted a K or a B , I visited the store to see if I like the brand in the first place. Actually, I ended up buying many things in that first visit. And now, Hermès is my favorite of all. I have a SA, I spend on things I love and we’ll see. But my first goal never been to get the famous bags. I bought two bags there that are not K or B and I am very much in love. I don’t play a game and I never felt like I need to play one actually. For years, I didn’t take a step in the store because of all the stories around it, I regret now. I should had went to see by myself way before instead of listening to random people that don’t even know the brand that well but still complain about it.
