Hello Tucker, I hope you are going to reinforce the frame on your cool custom Jeep your building. Back in 1978 my brother and I had an 1958 FC-150 that had the flathead 4 in it. We were going to install a Ford 302 with a 4 speed. Then we were going to ad a third axle under it to make it look like a tandem axel semi truck. But one of the main things that we needed to do was extend the frame rails & ad some cross members. But reinforcing the paper thin C channel frame rails were a real priority. But just boxing it in & adding a few extra cross members would probably make a big difference. Good Luck👍

Something to consider with the create diesel. Will you be forced to use DEF fluid? On the 4L60, the 4L80 was built for bigger gas and obviously the Allison for the GM and other diesel manufacturers.
The only thing that bothers me is how long we have to wait to see your rig moving. Not your fault. There is just a lot to do. Good luck and I will be watching.
You can get an om617 for $500. I put one in my jeep in highschool 10 years ago. Part are an issue. VW 2.0 tdi 2009+ is a great motor, common rail injection and variable geometry turbo 140hp stock 230ftlbs stock. It will do 170hp with just a tune.
there aren´t pure mechanical diesels available? cheap, reliable, no electronics/computer... the old mercedes are great. there are 4 or 5 cyl truck engines, om352, om314, om 355/5....
