This video came in clutch! Thanks to all the information, I was able to complete this myself. I have little experience working on vehicles as well. Good luck to anyone attempting this. Thank you so much again!

I believe this is the same line on my 2012 that's leaking. I thought it was the oil cooler. When I flushed my power steering fluid I put a dexron synthetic fluid and it was a bright red color I saw that same bright red color coming from that hose next to the oil cooler, so now I know it's a ps line. Thank you for your video I really appreciate it!!

Yes, helpful video. Im still in the middle of the repair. Ive watched the video many times. It took at least an hour to undo the 14mm nut into the rack pinion. It's hard to get at and you can barely turn it. Installing it is a nightmare, it has a mind of its own. I didn't think about disassembling it at the bracket as you did in the video. Ill try that and get back to the comments. Somebody please all this frustration is worth the savings on paying for labor. :/

At 5 minutes in you can see the fitting you can undo to replace just the rubber part that failed if your new line has the same short length. Save a ton hassle doing that. The rest of the metal line usually is fine.

Looks easy just hard to get to in a way.... All it is two brackets one by manifold one by rack and pinion and one line goes to the steering pump and the other goes to the rack and pinion.... The pressure switch is assembled when the new line is getting assembled with the new seals

@partsshooter
@partsshooter 3 года назад
Check your inlet and outlet o-rings at pump, Honda v6 had this common issue for reference. Aeration will cause excessive whining. If it didn't do it before, check over your work. If the pumps used, maybe defective... check everywhere for potential leaks such as pressure switch o-ring, high pressure hose and its o-ring.

one on one side closest to banjo nut and one on the other side after you put it through the ps hose hole...Might want to have the bracket on at the top first because its a biotch trying to get it on without dropping the rings

That 14 mm connector of the power steering line going into the rack is the only connector that is completely seized. Everything else was already a pain to remove except for that stupid 14 mm end. I've used a line wrench and tried my best to just barely clear the transmission while pushing away from me (towards the floor pan of the car) but absolutely zero luck. I've thrown Seafoam Deep Creep on that sucker numerous times. No luck. I want to cut out the line, but it's damn near impossible to even fit a small hacksaw in there. This was on the third attempt that has spanned almost 3 years. Unless someone else on here has other ideas to remove that 14 mm connector at the rack, I'm at the end of my rope here, and my car is left abandoned on my driveway.

With the banjo side. The copper washers go one on each side of that big opening? I dropped mine like you did and didn't get to see how it was supposed to go.
@partsshooter
@partsshooter 4 года назад
Yes... You'll install one washer on the end [mating the banjo bolt head to banjo eye or banjo bolt head to powersteering banjo eye, when inserting the banjo bolt toward pump] and the other copper washer between the eye of pressure hose mating to powersteering pump.

this is the only video on here that shows how to do this job... i attempted to do this job by myself with my own two sense today and i thought it was impossible until i seen this video lol.. i cant seem to jack the car up high enough so im gunna attempt to use my ramps tomorrow just to lift it high enough to get under and loosen up the hose from the rack... back up the car off the ramps and jack it up... im terrified the car is going to fall on me it makes me so nervous.... i wonder if i take off the air intake if i can reach the rack from the top?
@partsshooter
@partsshooter 3 года назад
Due to the pressure hose to rack position, accessing from the top may not be possible. I always have to go under to remove the line nut, however if you manage to achieve this, write me back! It's honestly not that bad, I hate doing these despite doing a handful. You'll manage to persevere, Take it one bolt at a time!

@@partsshooter I managed to take off the air Intake and get the line nut off. I got the new hose on and no matter what I do, I can’t get the new line nut into the rack! I worked on this all day and now I’m stuck with a car that I can’t drive LOL... it’s just not lining up and I keep turning the nut but it’s not going in. I’m beyond frustrated.. do you use Jack stands? I think my problem is I can’t get the car high enough with just this Jack.. Or there is a certain way the hose sits in position that lines it right up with the rack. I think I’m trying to screw it in a an angle
@partsshooter
@partsshooter 3 года назад
@@brianrussell5789 try all angles that's comfortable for you... My video shows the rout I use 100% of the time. Install the line nut 1st before you connect the hose to pump. Replacement line isn't going to be exact fit, metal line need bending to properly fit
@brianrussell5789
@brianrussell5789 3 года назад
@@partsshooter I got rained out today so I couldn’t work oN it but for just a little while and I thought I got it on but it slipped out on me.. I’m beginning to think it’s not the right fit... if I can’t get it in tomorrow than I’ll install the old one sense the metal part is not damaged anyway. Just the bendable rubber lookin hose is split at the crimp (I guess). I’m going to try to take the new hoses apart first and just try to install the metal hose without all the weight behind it and then hook it to the other hose. I managed to get my car up on my ramps so space isn’t an issue anymore. Have you ever had this much trouble getting the nut into the rack? I’m beginning to think it’s not the right hose sense I bought them separately

@bronsonfrench7945
@bronsonfrench7945 4 года назад
Whenever I do anything that requires topping-off the P/S fluid I always crank the wheel all the way to one side, then to the other. It helps make sure that all of the fluid gets where it needs to be in the rack. My guess is you hadn't done that yet, so the rack didn't have enough fluid in it to turn the wheels at a stop until you had driven it for a while.
