That was the best explanation of breathwork I’ve ever heard!! I love how you explain not just the how but the why and why not. And what breathwork is actually doing for you! ❤
Oh amazing! I am very anxious at present as we are about to go on a long trip and I always get anxious about packing, travelling, not forgetting things etc! But this has really helped me to feel calmer and in control. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Day 7, delightfully done! I had been doing this type of breathwork with the sound every night before bed without knowing what it was called. The small pillow on my bed finally became useful today. It no longer is just for looks. :D Thanks for a delightful practice, Tim. See you tomorrow.
56 year old uber-flexible recovering hot power yogi (joint injuries) enjoying your videos for about a year. Easing back to strength through your mindful prompts. Thank you.
Really lovely class today! I do meditation regularly for years now but not so much with breath work, more focusing the mind and clearing out the thoughts. I’ve done some breath work in the past including the more advanced stuff but nobody explained it the way you did. A therapist once recommended Wim Hof breath work so I tried it for a week or so but I felt it didn’t sit well with me. This was great and I wanted it to last longer! Please post more breath work videos. Much love from France
Your clarinet impression sent me into a fit of the giggles which was just as enjoyable as the breath work. I love your balance as a teacher, you don't take it too seriously and still convey the deeper meaning to the practice. Appreciate you 🙏
I was…oh no breath work, boring…but now I understand what breath work is and why,how to start doing this. THANK YOU for such a clear explanation and a great class!
Know exactly what you mean 😂I too found pranayam "boring" earlier! Now I love it... I hope to make more n more time for it in the future... Ideally everyday 🥳
Great practice. I felt the scar tissue and workaholic muscles at my shoulders and also felt a release through the 360 breathing upright. Much appreciated and will follow for more on the prana breath journey!
Thank you so much for this. As someone who is trained to facilitate the 3 part breath, I love getting to learn this pranayama practices to integrate into my day to day. You are a gift and thank you for sharing about breathwork.
Hey Tim! Last week I didn’t allow myself to take a pause out of my busy schedule to practice yoga 👎 . To start off the new week I decided that I will jump back into the challenge where I left off. Conveniently this was the perfect way to restart the challenge again!! As always thank you for the class.
#day7 a great way to finish the first week of 2022. It's easy to get carried away by times that pass at the snap of a finger, like first days of school or as we experience now, a new year. What is harder is to keep your pace throughout the course. That's why I feel breathing exercise is always reseting and reminding the basics. Thank you :)
I've done a ten day silent meditation (dhamma) and Wim Hof's intense breathe work exercises, I found this to be a nice exercise between the two extremes. I struggle to turn off my BS-ometer with 'energy' things, but I find when I open up to them, my body and mind loves it.
I like that you structured in the breath work into the course and at end of week 1. Breath control takes strength and flexibility that comes from the asanas that were covered so far. IMO, to realize full benefit of each asana, the breath incorporation is critical. Thank you for a very important session and at the right time. One observation, these breaths should be of comfortable length and size. Forcing air in our out will lead to distraction, loss of smoothness and a sense of hurry. All opposite of the purpose of breath control.
sent my only son back to college today so this pranayama practice was just what I needed last night🤦♀️💔. Somewhat I could gather I think Ollie was feeling it too. Keep doing what you’re doing… Thank you
Thank you for your slow, patient and clear explanation of this technique. I’ve been in bikram classes where people sounded like they were being strangled and I never knew what it was supposed to sound like. After a day of bad eating and stressful time with relatives this was like medicine! I’m a few days behind but going steady and loving every class.
@@yogawithtim I overheard my 12-year old teaching my husband how to do these breathing exercises! I taught my son to help him relax and overcome his fears at bedtime and now he does them every night. I used your "circular band" imagery to teach him to expand his whole ribcage and let air into his gills. Thank you!
How time flies when you are having a good time. This was excellent. I have learned that by focusing on my breath during meditation, it is very difficult for thoughts to float in. 🧘♀️ Ready to start my day with clarity. Many thanks.
I must admit I’m v lazy when it comes to breath work because when I’m pressed for time it doesn’t feel like “enough yoga” if I do JUST breath work but with your explanation of layering I’ve got a new found respect for breath work! Thank you!
This whole first week has been great. I love how you walk us through a well-rounded practice. I learn something new with each session. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the challenge!
Weirdly disturbed night sleep last night so when I saw that it was a breathwork practice day I was instantly calmed. What a wonderful way to start the day.
Really helpful guide to what I've always found hard and inaccessible. And really good to know that the advanced techniques that are getting popular now for cold water swimming etc would be better if they were grounded in these early steps. I'm white belt in the breathing department so this was perfect, thanks!
Dude this is one of the few yoga practices that i can consistently keep up without aggravating the recovery from a concussion. Thanks for sharing, Tim!
I’ll be honest, all of your previous breath work classes never fully resonated with me. I wasn’t sure I was excited for today’s. However, this was great. Your explanation and step approach made me really focused and feel connected to it for the first time. I appreciate you!
Chilled or what. So glad I did this and loved your whole explanation. I like to know why we need to do this and the effects on our body. Thank you Tim 😊 💓
I've been a student of Buddhism for over 20 years and this was the best physiological explanation for the value of bringing our mind to the breath. especially love your gentle approach and encouragement
During the class, I wasn't sure if I was following your instructions well enough to reap the benefits. Afterward, however, I was pleased to find that I felt more thoughtful, peaceful, and relaxed for the entire evening. I definitely need to make breath work a priority! Thanks again, Tim, for your exemplary teaching & encouragement! Happy weekend!
I would save this video and go back. This is one that is going to need to be revisited. Glad you were so relaxed at the end. Enjoy your weekend Steven. 🙏
Tim, I appreciate this video! I have been practicing breathing and meditation for over 3 years now and none of my teachers have explained not demonstrated these techniques as clearly as you did here. Very helpful! Thanks!
Thank you for your wonderful explanations and sense of joy and humor (those workaholic parts!). My ANS (that is currently so dys-regulated due to a head/neck injury) thanks you very much. :) This first week has been amazing!
This is a great introduction to breath work. I tried breath work once before but the techniques were too advanced for me. Thanks for teaching us. I feel so relaxed and energized at the same time.
Hello, everyone! Tim! I am so grateful that people like you exist out there, I used to push myself further from every position in the past, thinking that it would help me improve more, make me for flexible or even more aware of everything, this last couple days I have been following you were just amazing; I’m incorporating parts of the practice on my day to day basis also. I wish I could one day finally meet you and share some good laugh through the practice. Keep the good work!
breathing during my yoga practice always seems to be second to moving through the poses, then, oops...I forgot to breathe. Focusing today solely on breath work was just what I needed to better understand it. Thank you so much, I will try to be more aware of my breath during my future practices and I will try to work in this practice every day! Thank you thank you thank you!! Your explanation was so easy to follow and understand. I'm loving this challenge!! Thanks Tim!!!
Hi, Tim. Thanks for this clarifying Lesson about PRANAYAM. The example with karate was very useful. We must not go from zero to hero. Felt really calmed after the practice.Your voice helped a lot to archive that relaxation. Namasté ✨🙏🏼✨
I will continually thank you Tim, and keep saying that you’re simply AMAZING. Love your channel … but you’ve heard that already. Have a fantastic weekend.
I'm still working through the 30 day challenge. On day 22. I do miss your daily emails to remind and encourage each day. I am learning and improving each day.
This is my 4th year doing your 30 yoga challenge, and I have loved this first week. My main purpose for doing yoga is to focus on restorative practices and this week has been perfect. My very tight muscles are relaxing, and I’ve seen great improvements in my mobility. I especially loved today’s breath practice. I’ve save everyone of the workouts for this week and will revisit them often. Thank you!
Thanks for all of this man. I think i'm gaining some much needed body awareness from your teachings. I dig the the spiritual, mediative elements you reinforce all of your work with. You've definitely helped me feel less depressed. I've gotta stick with this.
I can't believe it's been a week already, I'm hungry for so much more. The classes have been inspiring, some challenging, some very relaxing and helping me to center myself. Love your work, Tim!
Started with a sputter, got to smooth. Your thorough explanation really helped understand and internalize the goals and mechanics of this practice. Really helpful and really soothing! Happy Friday all! 🙏
Interesting..breath work is not something that I have as a daily practice. Thank you for the introduction..I will have to seek it out some more 🙏🏻🧘🏼♀️
Breath work is so calming. Thanks Tim, perfect way to end this Friday and this week at work. I noticed today that when I practice Ujjayi breath, I feel a weird sensation in my tongue and my mouth cavity. I don't think it's tension, or of it is tension, it's something really subtle... I don't know yet. I feel like I need to explore that more. I notice that practicing regularly allows me to slow my breath a lot and when I notice it when practicing, it feels like a nice and unexpected surprise. Nice sensation and feeling. Thanks for today. First week completed. I'm proud of myself, finding some time each day to take care of my body and mind. I'll see you tomorrow.
Hi Tim! I was a day behind so I did this practice after day 6. Which turned out to be pretty awesome for me! I am left feeling expansive, alert, settled and calm. Thanks for another awesome class.
This might have been the toughest class for me yet! I have had meditation and breath work on my “to do” list for so long without doing it that a friend said “Wow, you’re really committed to not meditating!” But I know I will return to this video-I absolutely want to do this again, but am not ready to fly solo. Thanks so much Tim!!
Essential explanation for vital foundation! Thank you so much! I feel that through this simple breathing practice someone can be present in unity with his own self, and this is really invaluable. I m catching up to the challenge..Have a lovely day!
My physio dealing with an injury I have was emphasising the importance of rest and relaxation. I do struggle with ‘time out’ and have just done this practice. I tried to focus on areas of tension, the breath work has really helped. Thank you Tim x
